Not really. I'm sure he would have liked to coach longer. He's had a great career. The Rose Bowl will be a great way for him to go out. It's a shame he's had to deal with all the garbage that the "media" has put on him this year. No doubt, this is health related. He could have kept coaching OSU if he was able. Hopefully he can get his health situation took care of and go on to a long happy life. Forget about coaching and go relax. Time to turn the page and look at making life contributions in a different way. May God bless him.

15-17 with the Dolphins in 2005, 2006. Chose to send a 2nd round pick to Minnesota for Dante' Culpepper who was washed up rather than sign Drew Brees as a free agent because of fears his right shoulder wouldn't heal properly. It did.

These people don't understand Urban Meyer at all. Ohio State is the end all be all for him (and for most people in Ohio, unless you live in Cleveland, in which case it's the Browns, followed shortly by OSU). He went to Ohio State. He coached as an assistant at Ohio State. He coached as a head coach at Ohio State with a ruthless approach towards Xichigan (that is THE most important thing to us). The man has a cyst in his brain that he's been dealing with for a long time. Because of his competitive nature, I think there's a very good chance he may coach again in the future if his symptoms clear up. But if you think for one second he's leaving for anything other than health reasons, you just don't get the guy.

While the shot at Saban from Skip was unnecessary, Shannon needs to stop acting like Saban is a god. Yes, Saban is probably the best coach of our era, but Alabama is a historic Blue Blood in CFB. It's damn well easier to recruit there than many other schools, so don't act like that his ability to recruit talent there is solely from his "charisma".

Most of the coaches appear to be in poor health. Bruce Arians, Andy Reid, Matt Patricia, Mike McCarthy, etc. They all need lap band surgery during the off-season.

Reference Chris Carter, who is a very close friend of Urban Meyer (He was Ohio State's wide receiver's coach when Chris played at Ohio State) … Urban WANTED to continue coaching for another 4 years, but couldn't because that damn cyst in his brain was leaking and causing very serious complications, the least of which was/is migraine headaches.... He already had brain surgery, and opening him up again for another brain surgery so he could coach football could have had catastrophic repercussions.... He will not coach football again, because for Urban Meyer, there is only one way to do that and he is physically unable continue on and remain healthy.....

Urban Meyer is ALREADY one of the GOAT college head coaches, but he is young enough -- if only he is healthy enough -- to within ten or 15 years completely OVERTAKE NICK SABAN AS THE ACTUAL GOAT of all college head coaches ever. Won't be easy, but it is definitely within the realm of possibility.

That team from up north is licking their chops! Is the tide turning....i remember the 90's with the Cooper years....oh brother. Recruiting is gonna change. Next year many are leaving for the NFL. Next year = rebuilding. Agh!!!!

Urban made the SEC the way it is now and he made the BIG 10 the hardest conference in America!! Saban might be the GOAT, but he is up there.

Urban absolutely made the SEC Conference what it is. Nobody cared about that conference till Florida beat the brakes off OSU in 2006. If you don't agree your lying to yourself. Urban Meyer makes the conference better wherever he coaches.
