@@CrownWreathCreative Wrong John Wooden is an example of how to lead without using bullying tactics. He won 11 championships, won with a small team and won with a large team. He had few rules but these are some of them, no profanity no criticizing of a teammate and be on time. His pyramid of success is a blueprint for life that can be used by everybody. Bullying is basically seeking to intimidate or coerce someone perceived as vulnerable. Jordan saw Steve Kerr as vulnerable but he knew Robert Parish and Bill Cartwright wasn't so he didn't have enough nerve to try to swing on one of them because he would got bows dropped on him. Bullying is not leading. Leadership is the ability to guide others without force in a direction or decision that leaves them empowered and accomplished. That's what John Wooden did throughout his coaching career.

Charles Williams: it also helped John Wooden to have Lew Alcindor and Bill Walton (2 of the 3 greatest college basketball players of all time) wearing UCLA jerseys. It also helped that John Wooden had a UCLA booster named Sam Gilbert, who payed UCLA players more than the Boston Celtics got paid. Fun fact: John Wooden started coaching at UCLA in the late 1940s and didn’t start hanging banners until almost 20 years later (once Gilbert got there). But that’s just a coincidence, right? Here’s another example, Bobby Knight won three banners with basically Isiah Thomas and a bunch of midwestern farmboys. Bobby Knight had the same approach as Michael Jordan. As a matter of fact, Michael Jordan played HIS last college basketball game against a bunch of Indiana farmboys. That 1984 UNC team had a roster of McDonalds All Americans (and four future lottery picks) on it as well as the National Player of the Year (and future GOAT) on it. Besides a freshman Steve Alford, name another player on that 1984 Indiana team (without going to Google). As far as talent goes, North Carolina’s BENCH could have ran that Indiana team off the court. Players that played for Knight (including Isiah Thomas) was pushed to their very limits and a lot of them have championship rings to show for it. Unlike Wooden, Knight didn’t have his players on any payroll either, but I digress. So yeah, Wooden’s way wins, I guess. Only once you start putting future NBA players on the payroll and those teams constantly have 10 times the talent of any other team they play. Btw, there’s a reason why Bobby Knight is going to go to his grave claiming Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player he’s ever seen. There’s a reason why Michael Jordan had Bobby Knight at his retirement ceremony in Chicago. They’re kindred spirits. It’s well documented that Bobby Knight had Michael Jordan in tears when he coached Jordan in the Olympics btw. Iron sharpens iron. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

Yes he’s been reading the article’s, just because he’s not playing does not change his passion for the game.He had to get them at least close to his level. He should shed one more tear, they should when they look around and see how God used him to set them up to do what they love and be prosperous( PIPPIN!) If you really appreciate what fun!!!Michael brought to us and still doing, don’t buy that foul book. He should be ashamed of himself fareal. The Wizards years showed that while Jordan was still a good player, his talent couldn't bring them great success and everyone just got tired of him. His style works but is very limited in how it works and only works when you are uniquely talented, are secure in your position while no one else is secure, and you have to bring great success to others around you. The thing with Kobe was he so introverted in the beginning of his career compared to MJ that he isn't perceived as the same kind of "Bully" as MJ. He also was perceived more of a selfish ego maniac vs the Bullying type of leader(though he did do the same things as Jordan most likely). There's always levels to things. Just like Kobe is perceived as a MJ clone/imitation, this aspect doesn't usually get the same kind of spotlight when it came to comparisons.

@@ENB90 Good points. I'm a Lakers fan, big Kobe fan, but I can admit to and see how people would call some of Kobe's antics, bullying or toxic. Toward the end, no one wanted to come to LA, maybe due to his age, but I think more so due to the fact that they knew they would have to answer to Kobe. The way he handled the rookies and new Lakers, the way he dealt with Dwight, the way he dealt with and pushed Andrew Bynum and Odom. Also the way he went back and forth with Shaq jocking for the Alpha spot on the Lakers...I can see a lot of Michael in Kobe, not only in their games.

It's simple, Jordan challenged his teammates to ween out the ones who didn't have what he thought it took to go all out in the name of winning. Call it bullying or motivating or whatever. The formula worked 6 times. Belichek's formula has worked 6 times too and a lot of people don't like his style. Professional sports is strictly about winning. This ain't Sunday softball. No room for "having a good time" and winning simultaneously (until my Bucs change that this year).

Shannon please stop it. What Jordan did was not bullying. I was always a shy boy as a kid. This was at a P.E class and we had this dude who was like Jordan. At first I was like "What?" but thanks to him I got better at playing basketball very fast. We all did. Later coach saw me play and wanted me to try out for his basketball team. If it wasn't for him I would be still a shy kid who had the skills but never able to use that skills.

The documentary is bringing that entire team top to bottom down to earth. Its eliminating the GOD like memories we all had of MJ and the team. I'm very surprised this is what it turned out to be. It's more a behind the scenes of what we didn't see or don't remember. He is being humanized...MJ was a unstoppable scoring machine who ruled with fear by bullying, insanely competitive and very much enjoyed gambling. Jerry Krause built the perfect team around Jordan and also ended it too soon. Pippen complained, Rodman left for Vegas for 48 hrs, odd personality but a rebounding genius...so much in this...

Firstly, it’s not war... it’s basketball. Secondly, not even army captains do this to their men. Back in the old days (not even that old.. like during Vietnam), a captain/lieutenant would catch a bullet in his back if he treated his soldiers bad. Mike was only able to do this because he was enabled. It was bullying, by any metric of the word, don’t be voluntarily blind because you wanna be ‘like mike’.
