I just love your videos they remind me of my grandma she was born in Campbell town. As wee kid she took me there . I worked in Canada I was more Scottish .🏴 When I came home I felt more Canadian
Not sure how I came across the music of Skipinnish but this became my instant feel good hit the first time hearing it. A right old cheery upper. All the best from the big Scottish contingent down in Cambs 😍
@@iainmatheson5190, actually, myself & siblings are the first generation of our family not to be born in the Highlands since the year dot; (hence the (clan) name 😂... In fact that's how our names are on our birth certificates but the Anglocised version was used for the everyday. Not being raised in the Isles like the cousins we weren't surrounded by the language & were not taught Gadhlig, but am making the effort now to learn it 👍. (Edit; I have a question that perhaps you could answer for me? I've heard that with EU interference & money that Gaelic has been taught in schools throughout Scotland for a fare few decades now. In a bid to keep the language alive as it was only the older generations that could still speak it. The same in Wales with the Welsh language. I was lead to believe from the grandparents that Gaelic was only ever spoken in the Highlands & Isles & never was a Lowlands language. So the fact that it's now taught & portrayed as a 'Scottish' language confuses me somewhat? It's like teaching the Cornish language in London/Birmingham/The Borders!!.... It makes no sense?! Can you shed any light on the matter for me please? Are you yourself, your family/& ancestors of the Highlands or Lowlands? And why was it decided that these pockets of areas in the Highlands that spoke the language would for some unfathomable reason be rolled out across the rest of the country? Two different peoples/cultures/historys/& language merged under one flag! Sounds like 'cultural appropriation'?) And as for your issue with the spelling of the Gaelic version of my name?; I emailed the Clan Chief & he gave me a brief history of how the name came about & the merging of two clans eons ago! Be reassured... It's quite correct in the spelling... 'Son of Finnian').
@@iainmatheson5190, hmm, no reply?? Did you know that your surname has its origins in Old English & Hebrew before being taken as a Scottish surname? Where as mine is just pure Celtic, (Irish, the Isles & of course Scandinavian Viking)?. Interesting? 🤔. Maybe keep the 'nationalism' notched down a tad? Especially when attacking someone on RU-vid ends up making you look a wee tit of yourself? It could get embarrassing for you otherwise 😂
Its 2021 now. This song is very much needed after the tragedy that has struck humanity. It's been a year already. And we still dont see a clear end. At least there is music like this to make it bearable
And now that the pandemic has receded to a more reasonable level (albeit not withdrawn altogether), this song is important in another way: to help us acknowledge, perhaps even celebrate, making it through to another day...another year...another life. Not forgetting those who did *not* make it through, but remembering and celebrating the time we shared with them.
Amazing job guys, I would love to see you perform live one day, but it's almost impossible cause I live in Argentina and it costs so much money to go to UK :( but at least I can enjoy your work through here. Keep doing great songs like this one, and keep videos like this please, showing people, normal people, nice landscapes, and friendship. Tell the director of the video he did an amazing job as well. :')
Loving Skippinish ever since I listened to you guys for the first time, and not really being sure about the new version of "December" (which, in my opinion, just couldn't get any better than it was before), I was really looking forward to this release. What can I say? I just love this song. It really lifted my spirit tonight - I love how much it appreciates life and just living it to the fullest. It could well become my motto for 2017... Thanks!
Scottish bands like Skipinnish ....RURA.... Manran....Project Smok....Talisk....Breabach..Kinnaris Quintet... .Elephant Sessions,..... Lyrics Alive (Angus MacPhail) We may not see tomorrow but today the earth is ours Unknown the new horizons in the hands of higher powers But now we bear the blessings when the golden stars align - Feel the grace and hold the wonder you're alive. You're alive, you're alive and the stars are on your side Feel the wonder of the world, you are alive! For the days, for the days when the world's in your hand The silver dawn is waiting. On the hallowed ground you stand. When all the gods are giving and Polaris is your guide, Feel the glory of the gift you are alive. You're alive, you're alive and the stars are on your side Feel the wonder of the world, you are alive! When fortune gives the glow of peace and plenty on our way Surrender to the ocean and ride the seventh wave. We sacrifice our solace in the struggle to survive But now you're on the wave and you're alive. Our battles with the tempest in the dark unyielding skies The giver of our wisdom when from the fight we rise Hold your dreams and passion and again you'll find your fire When the storm passes by you'll be alive. You're alive, you're alive and the stars are on your side Feel the wonder of the world, you are alive! It's a warm night in summer on your island of the grain. The sea reflects the moonlight and the magic comes again. There's music in the air and a promise on the tide Feel the bliss wash your being, you're alive. You're alive, you're alive and the stars are on your side Feel the wonder of the world, you are alive!
Love the new single !! , will be seeing you soon ,I hope. First two lines of You're Alive are going to go on my new tattoo!! My new Anthem ,Thanks Guys
Tha an ceòl seo glè mhath. Bho Condae Dhoire ann an Èirinn a tha mi agus bha mi aig Fèis Eilean an Fhraoich ann an Steòrnabhagh ann an 2015 agus 2015 agus tha mi ag ionsachadh gàidhlig aig an mhionaid, s gàidhlig na hÈirinn mu cànan mhàthaireal.
Alistair Campbell brought me here after saying he introduced Tessa Jowell to this band while she was dealing with her terminal cancer. RIP Tessa, and Alistair, lets stop that idiocy that is Brexit.
Why bring politics in to it? Can't people just enjoy the music?... (IndyRef for Shetland, The Orkneys & The Isles 👍🖐️Freedom for Highlanders! Howz that?).
