We used Cocktail size nest box, and DNA test is the only way to tell sexes with Conures.. 🙂

It depends on the day she lays the egg. 21 to 24 days to hatch..so I think there is 5 day difference. Aww it's tiny. Good luck with your babies 👶.

My first time too, I have so many questions. Will the male help with the babies? He doesn't help her now. He gets mean with her. Is that normal. I need help soon.

This is cockatiel size box. I don't have the exact size approximate 8"x10" .May I also add the shavings are Aspen Shavings. Low odor and low dust.

Hi we fed Zuprem baby formula.. we had to mix it with water heat to 110° F and we used a syringe. It's very tricky, we had an Experienced lady teach us how to hand feed, if you don't feed properly you can kill the baby.. Once the babies are starting to eat, we gave them Millet. Once they are about 4 weeks you can introduce pasta, fruits, vegetables other seeds..

@@ballistic350Ithought about this all night.. I read yarn can get caught on the babies and cut off circulation..and possible death I used Aspen shavings, it's not dusty and the birds can chew on it..I've heard of shredded paper too. Also millet in the box while mama was sitting on eggs.. Hopefully your male is ready soon..

@@rose1957 possibly..I'll be looking in to it..if I did use yarn I'd cut up it good..but yes the Aspen shavings makes alot of sense too..just a thought. We'll see when the time comes

Do you know how to candle the eggs to check for life? Or if there is "pipping" egg getting ready to hatch.If there is no sign of life I would take the eggs away, a couple eggs at a time, over the next couple days. But if she's sitting most of the time and rolling her eggs, she knows there is life, give her til the weekend, if no babies remove the eggs.. she'll be fine..good luck🐣

david garcia I used the coffee cup hooks little J hooks. at the top of the box and hang it to the cage over food door.

The parents regurgitate yo the babies for about 2 weeks, then we humans take over the feedings with baby formula, around 3 months we ween into pellets seeds, corn, spaghetti and vegetables til they are eating on their own.. it's a big job..

@@rose1957 I thought so I read up on it and it said to formula feed them from the second day after hatching ,but do you have to change the parents diet for them to feed them

@@demil3067 not really.because they were on soft food as well as millet..also the adults liked formula..lol

Hello..Conures are very hard to tell apart. The best way is DNA especially if you want babies..

Hi..well you can't really count days for birds after 1st mate.. ours mated for 2 years before she laid her 1st egg. When she had real watery poops for 5 days ish? she was getting ready to lay..once the first egg is laid, it's every other day til she's finished laying.. That's how our experience worked out..

Elvis Tong Hi Elvis. If someone is breeding untamed birds or nervous parents, they should let the parents alone. You can see in this video, nobody appears to be agitated. We were part of their flock!!

i have 4 green cheeks, 2 of them laid 8 eggs and 2 survived. I felt that I bothered them too much by looking inside their nest :/

Elvis Tong Or the babies weren't getting enough food from the parents? 2 babies are good, easier for the parents to raise. I had to change the poopy shavings every couple days.. so lots of handling.. also we fed the parents baby formula then, they would feed their young.. lol it was a real family affair.. (their we're a lot of babies here, it can be overwhelming for the parents, we ended up taking 2 older babies to raise)

@@rose1957 yeah definitely but the problem is, the climate is very cold here where i live, and my local pet shops dont have or sell Conure and i dont know the reason. im not sure if climate is the problem or not, since they sell Cockatiels.

@@TuuguuSMD oh.. I live in eastern Canada. The conure would not survive the outdoors.. The Conure is not a real popular bird at pet shops here either.. perhaps try local breeders..or even ask the pet shop if they can being in conures?

They should only breed 2 times per year, however you must watch for over breeding..he will kill the babies so she can mate again..

My friend has a pair that started mating under a year.. and had healthy babies. My Female Ruby was almost 2 years.. nature takes it's course.

I have better information now. They play mate, at an early age 9 months, but nothing develops until 1 1/2 years.

If you want babies? you could put a nest box on now, it's mating season, (north america) or just wait til they start to mate then introduce a box,,cockatiel size Aspen Shavings, (better on their respiratory system) I left a millet in the box when she started to lay eggs. Babies are alot of work, for humans,, Conures love to wait til the babies are almost a couple weeks old and let the humans carry on from there. really? yes!! then we get to raise them for the next 3 to 4 months. .it go the point with us that Skippie was mating Ruby to death.,, 3 clutches in one year.. nuts, WE were worn out. LOL.. Any website on Cockatiels, is 99% the same for conures. and hand feeding videos.. Breeding is a huge commitment, please be sure this is for you.. :)

Rose C Thanks alot . Yes i would love to breed them thats my hobby to breed birds I will attach a box and lets see when they start ... Do i need to put the cage where there are minimum disturbance or they dont bother if people are around them?
