Final update: this little reel is the little engine that could ru-vid.comUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e . It performed flawlessly and was easy to adjust drag in the moment while I was battling a 35lb bat ray behemoth. Mind you, this reel is spooled with only 25 lb braid and 25 mono topshot. It's paired with the kastking telescopic heavy power rod and the two work well together. This has now earned my respect and confidence when traveling and fishing. If you have ever hooked into large rays and sharks, you know they pull extremely hard and can run forever! This thing clamped down on the fish and was easy to adjust during the fight. It has a nice decently fast retrieve as well. Twice the fish went on mad runs and I was able to gain back line quickly to avoid spooling.
I used to be a stickler on shimano. Now because of Lews equipment being so DAMm good, ill never go back to shimano. Absolutely the best for the buck and its made in the USA.
I just added this reel to combat my fear of backlashes when skipping and after two days I can honestly say that my failure rate has drastically decreased because I do not have to constantly figure out how to dial in the reel to eliminate backlashes. So happy with the quality of this reel.
That's right Mr hux I live in Missouri I'm near Stockton lake I did some fishing this past summer on table rock lake and boy does that place look like a good skipping lake with all the docks I bought one of those skipping reels from Lew's so that should help me out a little bit but still takes practice. God bless you and your family your pal fisherman Mike. Ps hey Mr hux this is the year your going to catch a 10 pounder .
Sometimes the skip gets the attention of the bass. It mimics a bait fish going across the top of the water. I’ve had several bites come at the end of the skip before I start the retrieve.
