Great RU-vid clip. Had the same problem with passenger side window not working. Managed to fix the wiring harness myself by soldering the wires and lengthening the joints. Thanks 👍

Thanks mate! My left passenger side window was not working yesterday. You got me thinking- so I used the depress open on key fob to make windows come down. This morning both work! And when I use switch (when ignition is on at least 1) it also works. No need for trip to garage. Thanks again.

Appreciate that! I cringe when I look back at this vid, there was sooo much waffling and stalling lol. I seem to get comments trickling in over these window issues, I may do a summary in the comment over this. The key fob function was something I was not aware of, as I am not sure my particular fabia did that. Thanks for viewing.
@@MysteriousDrJ try it ..m what's the worst that can happen (Skoda explodes). You hold the lock for about 2 seconds before the windows try to close - both front. And to open you unlock the car with fob and hold for 2 or more seconds. My reasoning was only the drivers side should operate. Imagine my surprise when both work. After that the window switch started working.
I am well aware there was way too much waffling and stalling in this video, so below I have listed the summary of the 4 different causes of the window fault I had expearianced, and shortcuts to that part of the vid. 1) Door wiring harness - 1:10 2) Faulty window switch - 2:18 3) High glass friction (hot weather) - 4:14 4) Bad motor adapter plug pin connections - 6:20 Hope this helps everyone.
I own this car too. This particular Skoda had the moisture problem from the factory itself. Have seen a lot of them facing this similar issue. Anyways just need to give you a temporary tip if at all you are struck in a situation where you have to close the windows and you can’t. Remove one of the battery terminals for at-least 1 hour and connect it back again. This resets the memory of the car and every will start working normally for a while again.
I've got problems on my Skoda roomster 2006 passenger window won't go down I was going to buy a new switch but I think I will try what you said. Cheers mate
first of all Thanks for such a useful video. Useful video . there is an issue almost the same with my fabia combi 2003. Mine the driver side buttons include side mirror and central locking. The central lock works but with the remote key, and i checked the fuse that was in good condition and i checked the wires there was electric just at one wire that is all. What could be the prob. Thank you.
As a bonus, now your windows are water repellent :) My driver door switch stopped working, can't open or close any of the 4 windows, and the buttons light doesn't work. So I'm guessing it's probably a broken cable.
@@Nicodomse Hello. First I took the switch module out and tested for continuity with my multimeter. The switches were all good. So Ive removed the rubber boot that covers the wire harness near the door hinges, and I found out a few of the wires were broken. So I did order a new wire harness, replaced and the problem was solved.
They are abit of a failure of design in my opinion, I did waffle on in this video I must admit. If you don't mind me asking, what are the most recent symptoms do your cars windows have at the moment, do some work or none work etc?
got fabia mk1(EU steering),left window don't work ,right work at right doors,door lock/unlock works,try with new switch parts,don't work,now it is electric worker problem :)
Hi! I have the exact same car, and it’s driving me nuts....... Both windows and mirrors have no power, I’ve checked the fuses, checked the wiring (no breaks) the motor is good, I’ve changed the switch. Not sure what else it could be? I’ve literally spent around 8 hours trying to discover the problem and it’s seriously making me want to smash it up with a hammer 😏 any clues?
@@NinjaBlade012 Hi, after checking both fuses for the electric windows (which we’re fine) it turns out that there was a fuse (number 11) missing which operates the electric mirrors. Somehow they are linked, so once I had put a new fuse in for the mirrors, the windows started working again. All that messing about for the sake of a fuse 🤪
It was on eBay. I just been on and typed 'fabia 2 window switch' the exact switches are listed under £10. Most are less than £7. Have a look. Hope this helps.
THIS IS MY THIRD FABIA IN 16 YEARS, THEY ARE A GREAT CAR BUT HAVE DESIGN FAULTS AS THIS DISCUSSION THE WINDOW SWITCHES ARE CHEAP AND NASTY CAUSING REGULAR PROBLEMS TO OWNERS AND WIRING LOOM THROUGH CAVITY BETWEEN DOOR AND FRAME / CABLES GETTING DAMAGED, THIS IS A DESIGN FAULT AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN PICKED UP BY SKODA /VW, AS SUGGESTED WHICH IS A GREAT IDEA SPRAY WINDOW RUNNERS WITH SILICONE SPRAY AS I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM IN HOT SUMMER WINDOWS JUDDERING DUE TO EXPANSION, THE OTHER PROBLEM IS THE ALARM COMING ON FOR BLOCKED CATALYTIC CONVERTER, ITS SUGGESTED YOU RUN CAR AT 50 MPH FOR A FEW MILES IN MY EXPERIENCE IT WORKS SOMETIMES, YOU ALSO NEED TO ADD RED EX CAT-CONVERTER CLEANER TO FUEL LASTLY, IF THE HEAT PLUG ALARM COMES ON, CHECK YOUR BRAKE LIGHT BULBS AND DON'T GET CAUGHT OUT THINKING IT IS THE BREAK SWITCH AS I DID CHECK THE BRAKE LIGHT BULBS, FOR SOME REASON IF THE BREAK LIGHTS FAIL A HEAT PLUG ALARM COMES ON , PROBLEMS PROBLEMS PROBLEMS BUT IT'S STILL A GREAT CAR.
SOMETHING ELSE I FORGOT TYRES WHEN YOU HAVE ALLEY WHEELS FITTED, ALWAYS FIT NEW TYRES WITH SIDE REINFORCING / HEAVY DUTY TYRE NUMBER NORMALLY FINISHES WITH 84
Recently had an issue with power to the drivers door. Guess what it was?? Chaffed wires. Exactly where you pointed out. Crap design. Car is up for sale. Not having that. Very very poor.
