I used to have a mk4 Ibiza 2003 same pd130 engine. Wouldn’t call it a hot hatch more like a warm hatch with really good mpg. Just remapped mine back then made just over 170bhp and over 300 ft lbs of torque

Birmingham racing it’s an interesting subject, and briskoda have a rather lengthy discussion with people for both hot and warm. It feels in power delivery and handling like the Valver we’ve got, yet like yours the Fabia is far more economical, thank you.

I used to have one of these, had it remapped with an exhaust and all that jazz, it had 210k miles and it never missed a beat, just kept going and going. Loved it.

They literally are bullet proof these motors, do you miss it? This is why we still have our Mk2 Golf GTI old school power.

Planetauto true, they will just run forever. I upgraded to a bmw 330d from the fabia but I just missed the old 1.9tdi too much, so I recently purchased a VW bora (pd130) for mile munching.👍🏼

Nice car the 3 Series, the Bora is now little seen sight around here, they always appealed as did the Lupo, we’ve a C124 MB for cruises too.

my mk1 is running 240bhp 380 lb-ft has a 1756 hybrid turbo and still gets me 55mpg :D

None of the cars we drive get close to states mpg, maybe the Series 2a 😆

Planet Auto I get roughly 45mpg that’s with 235bhp and 360ft lbs of torque so I can’t actually complain to much haha

Always annoys me people forget the Ibiza tdi sport that came out before the Fabia. The Ibiza cupra tdi 160 was probably the first proper hot hatch tdi

As did the Mk2 Golf Turbo Diesel, we didn’t mention that either and that’s seen as a diesel hot hatch even today

Best bet is to join a club for vRS, hot hatches or modified cars, they usually have offers for certain insurance companies.

i have one of these and do really like it going to be getting it mapped shortly because i had a go in a friend one what was mapped to 170 ish hp and it completely transforms them so much more enjoyable what then makes me think why didn’t they just put the pd150 engine in it to begine with🤔

Ah yes, fun cars -this Skoda heritage model was a lively machine, make sure you do your homework on mapping, what did the remap improve? The PD130 was ample we expect and tuneable too.

Planetauto im going to take mine to someone called fadr they are pretty well known in the fabia group for doing good maps and my friends one what is mapped it just seems to get into boost a little sooner but the biggest difference i noticed is that it seems to not drop off as much in the higher rpms he is getting it put onto a dyno soon to see how much it is actually making but it should be roughly round 175hp and about 390nm dont really want to run much more than that because the stock clutches are only good for about 400nm

In the Fabia as a conversion? That’d be interesting, we’re currently putting an ABF in our Mk2 Golf, we’ve driven the Mk4 with a PD 150, briefly nothing more than a quick drive though. What do you think of the PD170?
