@porschefan2003 And of course, Favorit, as a completely new concept, was developed in 2,5 years, so there was not enough time to cure the tieving problems correctly, whilst the 105 was a car based on a car from 1964. That is also why the engine and gearbox were always the most reliable part of the Favorit - they weren´t new....I think when the problems were solved it was a great car, which my Felicia from 95 confirms :)
@classicczech Well, I read a book by Petr Hrdlička, who was the chief-constructor of the Favorit. He said, that the 5speed box was just an ordinery 4speed box from the 105/120 with one additional gear and a bit different reverse. As far as I know, Porsche helped in the suspension and engine mounting, aswell as in other areas they sadly couldnt reflect due to lack of time
@porschefan2003 Hey I must tell you, that our Favorit suffered all these problems aswell :D The problem was beginning building a new car under the comunism. All the people didnt want any change in their lined up work, because they were scared that they will fail. And also many foctories supplying components were against new technology.
I owned one of the first once as a 23-year young driver. I was so proud. My car actually was on the Dutch Motorcar show when it was introduced. This way I managed to get s great value deal I think I bought it for around 15000 NLG in what I think 1987/1988. I need to see if I can get more info. It was white and honestly one of the best driving cars I had. As I was told Porsche developed the gearbox based on an existing one from Skoda. They seem to have also inspected the first shipments to the Netherlands. Not sure if all that is true :)
