This review weighed the scale towards the scala and I bought it - it is amazing, thank you. I have to disagree with you about the size though... The scala is significantly bigger than the VW Golf :)
Keith Isaacs thank you for your comment. The Skodas compared to their rivals always come out on top when it comes to value. Plus dependability is a huge plus. All cars are getting more expensive as new models emerge. Something we can’t help with.
Already bought one, so (nearly) totally agree, just looking for other opinions. I've want for the SEL & where you get slightly more kit you also seem to drop a few things your one had, but that aside I wasn't looking for a GTi or a Ford St, I was looking for a good family car with plenty of room...& I've found one. Loved your review btw.

Good review and a lot to like. I have the Fabia estate which is cheaper, although the Scala is a more up market and modern car so many may be happy to pay more for it. The Fabia estate is however 10cm shorter which is better for city driving/parking but has a bigger boot (with seats up) and looks to have better rear visibility. The Scala appears to have a narrow looking rear window in your review (at 17.15).

I am looking for a replacement for my 2010 Astra. The Scala caught my eye. The only thing that puts me off compared to buying another Astra, which would be my first choice, would be the cost of parts and servicing. I know Astras have cheaper parts. Although the Scala is excellent value. I am interested in your advise, thanks
Quite enjoyed your presentation albeit with a few mistakes put right with messages on screen. The scala looks decent for the money but I don’t share your over the top enthusiasm. You could say it’s further up the ladder than the rapid !

Hi there. Thank you for comment. There is usually a little button you need to hold down whilst removing the headrests. You should find this on the front and rear headrests.
Does anyone know the difference that the 17" or 18" wheels provide in regards to comfort and road noise around town and on motorways? I really like the look of the 18" but I'm unsure how much they may impact comfort and noise
(I know this is a year old) The smaller the wheel, the less you feel the bumps and the less you hear road noises. The bigger the wheel, the slightly more fuel efficient, better looking, but less comfortable and more noise. I'd stick with 16 or 17" if you can, this car is all about comfort after all.
@@AutoBears well, any of those could suit the scala. It is a step up, it is Skoda elevating it's game. How did you find the car in long speedway journeys? Does it hold up well?
I had this car for a test run and have gotten "Put your hands on the steering wheel" message and sound alert while I had my heands on it. I have spotted some users mention this as a very annoying problem, also on the kamiq. Did you get any such warning and do you think this will be eventually fixed by Škoda? Very nice review, like your style.
If there is zero movement the car thinks your hands are not on the steering wheel. You have to wiggle around a bit (now you have a excuse for driving side to side when you are drunk).
@@Max_Mustermann_ , the car reported this when I was driving it in a curve on a highway, the senzor was overtly sensibke to the point of bugged. Found one guy here who is able to make the senzor less senzible though.
This is very much a marmite car. It's not bad for the money. It's well kitted and the interior on the model you have is nice shame the lower spec models are a little more drab. I'm not sure it's for me and clearly aimed at a certain market
Sorry I was excited with the boot then in the cabin, that big slab of grey plastic on the dashboard & Ugh... my dog would scratch that to bits. The glove box seems cheap when you shut it.
@@AutoBears Thanks for the reply. Can't help but think they've missed a big trick there in a "family" car. The roof racks one can attach separately are very ugly and, not in a good way, very 70's too.

Mr11ESSE111 thank you for your comment. The question you must ask is if you are after a family hatchback, why would you consider a large family saloon? Plus running costs will be much more expensive as well for a larger car.
@@AutoBears no it wont be much more expensive!1 infact it will be cheaper if we count reliability of japanese car vs škoda ones !! mechanic parts and repairs just like services are more expensive and more often for Škoda then for japanese cars or in this case Mazda
