Skoda Slavia DSG User Review | 1.5L Engine | Fun to Drive sedan | Birlas Parvai 

One year owner ship review of my Slavia 1.5 Dsg ,driven 3200km - fun to drive, not for faint hearted, should have one car as back up, not value for money definitely not now ( mine has 10 inch display , they changed to 8 inch due to supply shortage), build is 8/10( included interior plastics , paint also ) not based on thud sound, 1.5 Tsi is international engine so it’s well tuned( I’m a person who sees 3 cylinder as bike’s engine) , now coming to the main part the gear box used in this dq 200 which has very bad reputation around the world when I was researching I read many articles about it failing @ 20k km for some and for some @ 70k km also but when I digged deeply I saw all the failing post was car manufactured before ~2015 and recently the rate of failure has decline ( not stopped) they started to improve the quality and de tune the performance to improve the life so at last what I set my mind was get the maximum warranty and enjoy the life while I can because tomorrow is uncertain - this was my owner ship review, so my recommendation would be this car is not faint hearted and won’t recommend to any one buying their first car (1.5 dsg alone) - even this 1.5 is also not for new drivers as it’s power delivery is not linear it goes berserk after certain rpm - I also forgot to mention the elections in these cars are not robust.

Hyundai verna onpaper better number irukalam..but onroad performance virtus and slavia is better....

Skoda and VW cars are not meant for mileage. It is like looking build quality in maruthi brands. They are for performance and safety. But still one can expect a decent mileage from present skoda/VW 2.0 brands( around 10 to12km/L in traffic and above 15km/ L even close to 20 km/L highway ). I can support these details with proofs. It is ridiculous for a person like Mr. Birla who claims himself as moto expert to highlight mileage in title for the brands like skoda /VW. A similar kind of title was given when slavia 1.0 was reviewed a year back. I personally mailed mr. Birla with proofs that slavia can deliver better mileage. He even acknowledged. Weired that he repeats the same. .. ( I am a slavia owner. I do agree slavia has negatives as any other car. My point a good reviewer should know the face value of brands and should be neutral in delivering datas and details).

Skoda is a car who likes performance and safety and doesn't bother about Milage and price.That's it.

If I also choose sedan, I also prefer Slavia.because don't bother milage, but I will look for performance and safety

DSG3 has problem... the gear box fails... earlier it was the same gear box in Polo GT. when it goes... repair not possible replacement is very expensive... runs in lakhs... even outer market replacement is extremely expensive.

VW 2.0 cars suffered from serious cost cutting and its inevitable in their build quality ,those who owned polo or vento will definitely notice significant difference in the build quality of Slavia and Virtus despite its the only group with 5 star rating in Latin NCAP ( not an easy thing). VW 2.0 cars only have issues like rattling noise driving bumpy roads and A/C issues which is a big letdown even after the update considering our hot and humid climate. Only 1.5L TSI engine (4 cylinder) and the DSG gearbox (dq200) are imported (from Germany) , the rest have been localized. This car is definitely overpriced . Also DSG gearbox is a ticking time bomb, it has reliability issues by design but it is by far the best to drive under 20lakhs. If you want to experience true german engineering , its 1.5TSI or better used car segments prior 2021. For those who love their cars packed with overloaded feature should go with Korean,Japanese and Chinese (MG) cars.

I bought a lava blue edition of Kushaq, 1.5 dsg. Engine and body build is really good.. but poor AC, interior plastics are very cheap and misses 360. AC is by far the biggest let down.

Go for best built quality and fun to drive cars like Germany cars and their equivalent. I have been using Fiat Granda Punto since 2009, 15 years clocked still rocks every corner. My next upgrade will be Skoda Slavia if the budget supports no doubt, a straight Jeep Compass I never look behind the Hyundai or Maruti Suzuki.

Wear and tear can't be covered under insurance. Only accident and own damage can be covered. Other production faults have have to be covered by Skoda only. Bumper to bumper insurance is good to get more money while claiming insurance.

You guys have probably not gone for a insurance claim to a Skoda showroom. They apply estimation charges (Rs. 8900 + GST) which is just for the estimate that you've to pay in case your claim is rejected. Haven't heard any such charges ever. I've owned VW and Skoda for 10+ years with both cars 2lac+ kms.

In highway, Kushaq goes for 25 kmpl, if you drive at 70 or between 70 and 80 for about 150 kms. Maybe, longer than this, if you travel for longer distance because it keeps on increasing over the distance. Driven and Tested. Keep the live mileage display on and drive keeping an eye on that to get best mileage, not only in Kushaq but also in any vehicle! Do not think how to go at 70 in Kushaq, that too in highway. At what speed are you driving in a Maruti for mileage which is less than this?
