If you gotta stick you're head IN the box to smell anything than it's good at keeping smells down. 😂

Seems like a good idea would be to pour it out from as high as possible outside then bring it in.... then it's dust free 😀

Inhalation of DE dust can [and will] cause silicosis (scarring) of the lungs. The dust in this incredibly dusty litter is particularly dangerous and in itself is a decent reason to avoid using it for the sake of yours and your cats (who will create dust every time they scratch at it) health.

Thank you for all the information! Ive been looking for a new litter that is super absorbent as my cat does have diabetes and frequently urinates. (We used pretty litter before and it did indicate she was sick but unfortunately it is not great for absorbancy).

Thanks this was incredibly helpful. My Skoon is supposed to arrive this week and I’m gonna give it a try for the upstairs litter box. I still have basement litter for my two cats but one cat has decided, at age 10, to start peeing in odd places upstairs for no apparent reason. So this has necessitated a new, additional bathroom litter box and I cannot handle the amount of litter all over the bathroom floor. I’m trying this to see if that gets cut down.

Yea i had the same issue opening the bag. They need to fix that! Make a easy open bag! My cat took right too it as i put it right in the current litter box. Im liking it so far (day 3)

I’m researching all things cat because i want yo get my first cat. I have 6 kids and am trying to figure out the least messy yet most effective box/litter- probably a covered one. I’d love to see a video for beginner cat owners and what would be a good solution for sifting boxes vs traditional boxes and litter suggestions. I’m so confused 😭

could I use this litter in auto cleaner like Litter robot or pura max?

Skoon is excellent for urine absortion but I was curious how did it work for your cats #2s? Im guessing if the poo just sits on top it would get stinky?

I totally understand the dust issue, which is why, no matter which brand I have experimented with and may use, I purposely pour out any brand of litter, from a low altitude to avoid any dust cloud. Anyone who doesn't, no matter what brand, is fooling themselves. Common sense here people. Who does that? Now, I am not touting this brand. I have never used it myself, but if you're going to call out dust clouds, then be honest about it.

How do you dispose of the stuff?

We've been using Skoon for about two weeks now. Our cat is small, but she is not fond of the small box. She started using it right away and we actually have had less out of box events. So that is great. She is old and use to be an outside cat until getting chased and pinned down by a huge dog (now too scared to go outside). I personally have not smelled the odor at all, like not having to scoop as much. Oh, but odor, our cat's poop is stinky and we do smell that, so I scoop that right away. The real pro is we are going on vacation and have someone coming to sit with our cat who also now gets very lonely. So we think this litter will be awesome for not making this person scoop as much. I canceled the box subscription and will just get a bag and put in our big box.

Skoon is the best I’ve tried for odor. Guests can’t tell I have 3 cats! and that’s of upmost importance for me.

You should do a review on kitty poo club. It's amazing at 20$ a month and the company is absolutely wonderful. ❤️🙂

It is definitely not dust free, but if you poor it directly above the litter box (6") there is dust but not nearly what you see on the video. In my experience, it dissipates quickly and isn't an issue when the cat uses it. (I have asthma, so it's actually something I pay attention to and it hasn't been a problem for me.) And common sense tip, use scissors to open the bag. It's light, so you could potentially pour it outside, which would help with the dust when first poured. As it absorbs, some of it breaks down a little. While I have had very little issue with the pebbles getting tracked out of the litterbox (I use a covered corner box with a large opening - so more like 2 walls and a ceiling) there are times where there is powder on my cat's paws that causes tracks, but even this is only occasionally. I find it very convenient to use. You do need to stir it everyday (and 2x is probably better) to distribute the saturation (and remove any poop), but I find it much easier and less dust from scooping than other brands I've tried. It is a subscription service, so you don't have to keep track of when to order, it just shows up. The biggest downside is that it obviously costs more than some other brands. Overall, I've been pretty happy with it.

I kind of wonder how it may work with my cat. He has renal failure and pees a lot. And I mean A LOT. Could the litter really absorb all of the liquid? I would guess it may take at least 2 8lb bags. I would be a bit concerned with the texture of the litter. My kitty is 16 years old. He could be set in his ways. He he he. Thank you for the thorough review. It was very helpful. I think measuring dust is not an exact measurement as the litter may be dust free until it is shipped. Who knows what happens when all of this stuff is shipped and gets crushed down, etc.

Your point about not being able to tell how much your cat is peeing was my concern, and why I ended up watching your video. One of our cats has urine crystal issues, stress related our vet says. He’s on Prozac now and doing well and back to normal. But I’d have nooooo idea if we were using this litter. Wouldn’t be finding those lil teeny clumps from him trying to pee and only peeing a little. Also…holy dust cloud. The profiled box also seems really small 🤷‍♀️

Most people do not pour cat litter from 3 feet about the pan, no wonder you got a dust cloud. LOL

Hi there~ Why did you pour the litter from so high up? I suppose I’ll have to see what your other videos are like if you pour other litters like this. Still, it is 99% dust free. If you think about the quantity that the particles of dust make up compared to the quantity of the litter you have, it’s pretty right on. Thanks for taking the time to do this video all the same. I'm very sensitive to smells, so maybe, I can add some diatamacious to the litter I'm already using ...??? if that's what keeps that smell down

Not a fan of this litter. 1. Too chunky (my 4 cats refused to dig in it) 2. Too chalky 3. Too dusty (however, this can be mitigated with proper methods) "99% dust free" ha! such a cliche claim that needs to be abolished in the litter industry as a whole! lol. 4. Low absorbency, largely due to the large shape (urine always cascaded and puddled at the bottom and had odor when uncovered as you described on your 14th day, but for me it was my 1st day. the stones are so big that they leave openings like a plinko game) 5. Odor Control is only good IF your cat digs and buries its poop and IF the urine doesn't plinko to the bottom 6. Expensive pros 1. light weight 2. low tracking 3. kids like to hear it crackle, sizzle, and pop and release "steam" when water is poured on it. :) edit: oh and I never recieved my refund. check probably got lost in the mail and way too much time has elapsed by now anyway.

Well I like the small box as it would be great for travelling and tossing in the dumpster in the morning, the dust is extreme and not safe for your cat and the pieces are huge, like gravel. Not a fan for my kitty.

You didn’t review the tracking of litter?

omg!!! that looked like a lot of dust !!!!! I guess, for next time, hold the bag close to the litter box, and slowly pour it out.... that might resolve that huge dust problem .... Now, let me get back to the video and see what she says about the dust ...

I’ll stick with Pretty Litter, by far the best I’ve found.

of course you'll get dust when you pour it from that height. i would have crouched down on the floor and pour it at a lower height.

For someone w/ more than a couple cats (4) Im thinking this would be pretty pricey, but def worth it for 1 or 2... Seems much better than Pretty Litter... I was NOT a fan of that stuff

Diatomaceous earth is the last dust you want to be breathing in. That stuff will tear holes in your lungs. I'd never use that for my cats.

Honestly why in the world would you try using the box they gave you and compare it to the huge litter box you already had? Logic ....

The fact that you didn't scoop the litter for 4 days showed how good this litter is and a poor cat mom you are.

I have 4 indoor cats... Too much dust for my taste . And cost not good. I really didn't like what I saw. You did a great video review.
