This is one of the coolest projects Skrillex ever made imo. It's this little tucked away world with a lot more subtlety, released for free at the height of his career. I wish so badly that this was on streaming services. It's a hidden gem.
I love Skrillex. His music reminds me of things used to be really simpler in my life. All the little subtle sounds I noticed in his music, all the switch ups I think are genius. I played gears of war and listened to Skrill. And I used to smoke then too and lived in Houston TX. Wow flash back. I love all you guys who also listen to Skrill. God bless you guys 🙏
I remember when this dropped, i was 12 and sad cause i thought this was the end of skrilles making dubstep and moving on to other genres. 10 years later he’s made so many different genres including dubstep, bro’s a legend in the EDM scene
I am not going to lie. I did kinda of cry my first time hearing Leaving because I thought just like simplyfantastic58 , that this was his last EP , last songs. I am a die hard dubstep and EDM fan and Skrillex was the artist that introduced me to Dubstep and now I am hooked for life.
still amazes me how he dropped this lovely bit of emotional electronica and never returned to the sound...i know he was inspired by Burial at the time but i think he held his own and tunes like Leaving sit up there with some of the best emotional/dark electronica out there. even the vocals in The Reason get me every time...they just hit you right in the good spot!! x
This brought me so much memories when I was sleeping over at my exs house when I played this on RU-vid to fall asleep 😪 I can vividly remember when the moonlight was shining on us, when I had found love, and when I lost it all.
I'm so happy he's making this kind of music again.... I think this is BY FAR the best album so far.... It kind of sounds like the stuff he made when he first became skrillex which is awesome
That's actually a sample of him from his old song Copaface, the track also has the same backing piano melody and chord progression, so Leaving is essentially a future garage remix of Copaface.
I do love it! It represents skrillex's advancement in the EDM genre, but just like Picasso, the masses won't respect this EP until they are advanced enough. And I'm not callin myself advanced; That comment wasn't directed at you
