Skrillex's power lies in drum compression and top melody ideas. You get sucked into the flow and all encompassing feel of the drums, and then he drops it and has this weird saturated vocal chop thing that somehow evokes a lot of emotion. The rest of the song isn't majorly complex or even musically interesting, but the cadence of the drums, and the emotions in his leads have always been special

A lot of people don't realize, most if not all hip-hop producers of today would go out of business if edm artist's shift their production to hip hop. You can clearly see this in the beginning of this track that skrillex probably effortlessly put together that loop. EDM artist are masters of sound design and daws

What i've learned from looking at Skrillex's project files... 1. You can never have too many layers (just remember to mix them all correctly) 2. Working on a project for "too long" isn't possible, remind yourself to take breaks and come back to it later. 3. That one sample may have sounded cool in the beginning of the project, but you might find something that fits the track better later.

Gain staging + Distortion layer. Mid side eq. Distortion amount automation. Volume Automation ,panning automation, room fx automation . So it might hit a short period of time but your ears get tricked ✌️

It is allso easier to make simple mono sound and distort it a lot with mixing techniques and end result is amazing .

This is that signature Skrillex sound, unparalleled! I feel like he has gone away from the crazy sound design that made him the G.O.A.T. of dub step and just crazy clipped audio to make these amazing sounds. I wish Sunny would just go back to the bananas kind of artistry that Equinox.First of the Year had for sound design!

Everyone does this but instead of using the term distortion they use a more "sophisticated" word that is saturation. It is essentially distorting the sound to bring out certain frequencies.
