Hey man, i just bought the SKS and i see that there is a small amount of clear (maybe silicon based) grease in the presta side of the head. Is it good practice to grease it up a bit every now an then so the seals don't dry up?

I don't think it's necessary to do so, but I am going to put a little dab of grease on mine next time I check my tires! The little bit you found on yours is likely just for shipping and storage reasons, ensuring moisture doesn't seep in and rust the metal parts before it's purchased. Similar to the factory oil that comes on a new chain.

As long as the wheel uses a Schrader valve, I don't see why it wouldn't work. I haven't personally tested this, but it should work.

Yes. The Topeak is a little harder to replace because it's screwed in.

Which one of them is more accurate? I was inhalating my car tires this sunday. They were inhalated to the 2.2 bar. Today 3 hours ago i was checking it by sks and the results were 2.2 bar, now 2.1 bar and the topeak shows 1.9 bar i am confused.

I've found the SKS Airchecker to be more accurate, but both should be well within the range required for a car's tire pressure. Car tires tend to be less sensitive to smaller changes (

@@Accounting4Cycling how to reset them? If you mean switch off and on and repeat the process i already done that and both shows diffrent amount by 0.2 bar

@@Accounting4Cycling Haha today i went to the same gas station and before inhalating my car tires i checked the pressure again. The topeak showed 1.9, the sks 2.1. I started to inhalate the tire with stationary compressor. The beginning pressure were 1.9 so the same as the topeak. After a week i lost 0.2 bar in the tire. Probably because of testing. The rest of the tires were fine.

I bought the SKS because the display is backlit & easy to read in bright or dim light, the Topeak is not, a strange oversight in such an expensive gage. Most user of these gages are going to carry them for field use, so this is a shortcoming of the Topeak potential users should consider. For shop use, higher precision, large dial analogue gages are better, and often cheaper. That said, both of these adequate tools for general use. The street price of either is lower than the list price if you shop around. I bought my SKS from Amazon for 30% discount, Topeak was also discounted and the price difference was literally $1 when I bought. After about 8 months of use, the SKS is working flawlessly, in fact, it took awhile to "break-in" to slip off of my Presta valves quickly, I bit tight when brand new.

Absolutely agree! The back-lit screen is the main reason the Topeak is collecting dust in my office! After you get the hang of using the SKS, it's a dream to keep in the saddle bag!

My Topeak D2 blew up after about a year. I’ve glued the top together…unacceptable. I just got the SKS so we’ll see how it goes.

Oh, wow! That's awful! Sorry that happened to you, hope nobody was hurt. I prefer the SKS as it fits nicely in a saddle bag and travel pack.

Mine showed up just fine, but the Topeak in the video is number 3 after having a few DOA units. I bought both brands from Amazon, at least they have an easy return process!

Don't buy the Topeak, it is not durable. The little yellow switch will break very easily after some use. I already broke mine in about a year of usage. Expensive lousy product. Now I cannot switch the gauge. and the Topeak CLD sucks. It got darkened by now LCD faulty. Hardly can read what is the mesaurement.

@@Accounting4Cycling Good for you pal. No doubt that Topeak do produced good products but not all are good. I do own many Topeak products too from Topeak digital tool to riding accessories along the way, we learnt which were the better ones out there.👍🏻😸

I have used the Topeka D2 at cyclocross and MTB races for two years with no issues. I may add in all temperatures and in the wet weather of the Pacific North West. I am pretty rough on my equipment as well.
