Good video. Universal means fits most, not all. Many times slight modification is required but that's what you expect on a part designed to accommodate multiple frames/shapes. Also, SKS lists these fenders to fit 26-28" tires. At 29" I'm happy you got them to fit with as few adjustments as you did.
According to most definitions, universal means fits all, not most. But obviously the sellers are gonna describe their products as universal anyway because it sounds good.
Nice work! How stable are these fenders off road? I'm thinking about ordering a set but it looks like they might bounce around and contact the tires. Thanks!
They are a tight fit. With tall knob it's they do rub but the tires I have now it fits well. Unfortunately there was not much else I could find locally, so I'm happy I got these to fit
It's very clearly marked on both the retail cardboard packaging and in the online item description that these SKS Beavertail fenders fit 26"-28" tires. Do you also expect size 8 or 9 shoes to fit size 10 feet ?
28" trekking wheel is a 29" MTB wheel. The size of this same wheel ONLY depends on tire size and with today's large tires ebikes, 28" is very very close if not bigger than MTB XC fires
it works great with hybrid tires on the street. knobbies in dirt get jammed upbright away. the purpose for me was to keep the spray down when biking on a wet street, so ibwas happy with the result, especially since i had difficulty finding fenders for a 29er within a reasonable price range.
So what ur saying is, these fenders designed for up to 28" will.... given some ingenuity clear tyres on a 29"? Because frankly full coverage mudguards are nonexistant (for some fuckin reason, its like mountain bikers WANT to be covered in crap) and these are by far and away the best sized guards... but I have a 29" bike.
I did fit the SKS BLUEMELS 75 U on my grand canyon, works fine on moderet terrain, stays and everything not cool but 101% practical. No wild rides during the dark winter anyways....
There are now available Cube fenders 65 and 75, zefal 68mm, SKS Bluemels 75, SKS mudrocker, SKS velo 65. Bluemels and Cube might fit only a plus tires bike as they have very flat profile and so require lots of room. Velo 65 has a rigid, but tall profile with those grooves running all the length so they also require significant space between from brace and rear stay brace
Hi there @germanpickle I am thinking of getting this fender and have never previously had a fender on my bike before, so my question to you is as long as there's zero rubbing then the fender is installed good? I figured I might as well ask before making a purchase so I have no problems, and my bike is large with 27.5 wheels so I know the sizing is good, I just have about the same clearance on the back tire but with the hole pointing the right way haha.
