Not only was this a highly instructional video but I feel like I've just been serenaded by the sweet sounds of Matthew McConaughey's voice, I give this video 5 "all right all right all rides" out of 5.
Nice work, bud. This is a very important step for anyone that has bought a SKS that has been stored in cosmoline or just has a dirty bolt, but then again, going full auto with an sks is kinda fun :P
Excellent video, just got an SKS today and took it down to de-cosmo/clean/lube it and I knew I needed to get into the firing pin to make sure it was clean, but wasn't sure how.
Thank you for the easy tutorial. My sks stopped working ~6 months back. Finally took bolt apart and found bits of primer stopping the firing pin from protruding. I was ready to buy a new bolt/take it to a gunsmith.
You all probably dont care at all but does any of you know a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost my login password. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
@Chad Levi I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
good video thanks and i really appreciate it. i just bought my first norinco sks and havent cleaned it yet. i will follow your instructions to open & clean the bolt and firing pin.
If your SKS has a bump on EACH side of the firing pin (like mine) just look through the hole where you beat the pin out and turn the pin until it's a full circle. If it's not in the right way the circle will be partially blocked and it's easy to see if you hold it up to a light.
Thank you..... great video..... I was having trouble with my yugo sks misfiring due to shallow pin strikes and was not sure how to strip this down. .... gun works perfectly now thank you very much
Thanks for the video. Helped me out. If I had you address, I would send you a brass punch and brass hammer. Haha. I cringe when I see steel hammers on steel pins. Thanks again man. Good video.
The firing pin should always float freely like that its called a free floating firing pin you should always be able to shake the bolt and hear the pin go back and forth
I bought this sks from a friend for cheap. Its a norinco, problem is that "extractor" is broken. Where can I find a new one or even a new bolt? Iv been looking online and can't find one:( please help me ! Lol... Great video. Watched it and found the problem in seconds
Hey Mike.... I know that your SKS doesnt do the "Slam Fire" but I am thinking about ordering the murphy firing pin spring for my SKS just to be on the safe side. What's your take on nat?
My pin will NOT come out! i hammered on this thing and still nothing! i see some kind of organge colored grease on the firing pin and some covered in carbon underneath the flat side. I got nothin!
Hey buddy got a question. I just got a old SKS And first off when I pull back the bolt it doesn't lock into place. Another problem is that the firing pin doesn't move . The extractor moves but the firing pin doesn't. Plz help
Mattthew Richmond take some oil and loosen it up , and theres a little notch in front of the charging handle that u can pull up while holding the handle as far back as you can and it will lock open, this can be automatically done if you have the original non detachable magazine
hey man I had the same issue. use some WD40 on both sides, use a metal hammer with a punch (a metal tool designed for doing just this). I placed it between two pieces of metal so it was elevated and then just whacked the hell out of it. it will come out eventually, just watch your fingers.
Great video. Just dont use a hammer! Place the bolt in a vise, and gently squeeze the pin back in. If you have it misaligned, hammering it will mushroom or gouge the surface inside and it will never come back out
I couldn't get mine out no matter what I did. I just ended up hitting it with heat, compressed air, and ballistol... pin still wouldn't come out, but I got a ton of gunk out of it and the pin finally floated freely
@@internetomatic I'm having the same problem. Tried putting it in boiling water and soaked it in water and simple green overnight but it still won't budge. Has your SKS been running well since? No slam fires?
Craig Vaughn - If you mean the firing pin, you can find those on AIM surplus for $5. A website called „buymilsurp“ and another called Apex Parts has the Retaining pin he hits with a hammer.
Locking in place = should be a plastic tab that you can push up to lock the bolt in place (does this naturally if the magazine is in)....if the firing pin doesn't move then you need to clean it badly and I would listen to this video. I just cleaned mine out and there was just tons of gunk inside of it...and mine just barley moved (wouldn't strike primers though lol)
You need to figure out how to auto focus the camera to reach the next step of RU-vid game... Really wish you the best, but I cannot see anything clearly...
