Staining skulls can be the hardest and most intimidating part of carving skulls so I put together a few videos on how to stain skulls correctly. This video is on the type of stains available and how they can be used on animal skulls.
You can watch all the skull staining videos here usskullhunter.ck.page/b6718f8a34

That's awesome man! Thanks for watching :) Oh and I think you tried joining the Facebook Group? Due to scammers (don't take this personally) one profiles with real names can join. Unless your first name is Antler, in which case that is awesome and I apologize! :D

I really appreciate and enjoy your teaching videos. I was wondering if you have tried acid dyes for staining bone. I bought many different colors from Dharma dyes very cheap but excellent quality to dye feathers and fur for fly tying. As i would cook the dye and fur in a crock pot i would throw in bone beads to see how they would take the dyes. They actually took the dyes very well. I want to experiment with resists in orde..r to use different colors. I recently came across a few videos of women who are using a pressure cooker to set the dye without soaking them. This looks to have very interesting possibilitys.

Hey Robert! Yes, I have used acid dyes on bone and it did work very well. I have discovered colored leather dyes which I have taken a liking to as well.

Do you use any kind of primer for painting skulls?
@usskullhunter

It kinda depends on the paint. I personally only use a primer for metal paints.

How about, how to remove stain?
@usskullhunter

Yes that is a challenge. Acetone is kinda the go-to but there are other methods I have heard of as well.
