Oh my goodness!! This is amazing!! I've been looking for a hobby to get into and this is perfect for me!! I can not wait to get stated. I've watched several of your videos already and plan to watch them all.. Thank you so much for creating them!! I've already got my first deer skull cleaned and ready to go.. I've got a 3000 variable speed dremal. I just need to order the right bits now and I'm wanting to try the turquoise inlay... So I'm ordering that stuff too. I just requested to join your Facebook group so I'll post what I come up with!! Again super excited and thank you!

I've got a wildebeest and a springbok skull right now, planning on carving andinkra symbols into them and inlaying them with copper dust (almost bought a solder and wire until I saw your copper inlay video). I am curious because I wanted to have the skulls lightly washed in a watercolor; do you have recommendations for making sure the inlay is properly sealed so the paint doesn't disrupt it?
@usskullhunter
@usskullhunter 6 лет назад
Sweet those are some awesome skulls! Just depending on how you want the paint to react with the bone either a clear coat before you paint or simply paint right over the inlay and then add the clear coat should be fine.

Can I use any kind of colorful powder then put the CA glue on top of it or does it have to be a certain kind of powder?
@elishacorliss6268
@elishacorliss6268 2 года назад
What glue would you recommend to adhere crushed glass to a skull 🤔 Thanks!!
@malcolmmercer9183
@malcolmmercer9183 3 года назад
My CA glue started to bead up and made all of my powdered pigment run all over the skull instead of soaking up the material like yours did. Was it the CA glue or the powdered pigment? The pigment was for coloring resin.

Can you use fingernail polish remover or something like that to help remove excess? I am having difficulty sanding away the parts that went into natural divots in the skull

Thank you for putting up so many great videos! Just a thought, I was wondering if epoxy resin could be used with your carvings... or maybe with the rings. When I have more time, I’m looking forward to doing some carving myself thanks to you.
@usskullhunter
@usskullhunter 5 лет назад
Hey Tana! Thanks for watching. Yes, you can use resin for the inlays and other applications. I kinda just love CA glue so I use it for everything haha. I have a video coming up though were I will be doing some "resin inlay" so to speak :D

I love your work. You do a great job at both the carving and video for RU-vid. Watching you has inspired me to give it a try myself. How long did it take you to learn skull carving? What source did you use to get started and learn the skills? Keep up the videos and keep rockin the carvings. You do amazing work.

Thanks Brian! I have been carving skulls for 4 years now. Always enjoyed whittling before then but did not focus on skulls till 4 years ago. When I started there was literally no information on skull carving which is what made me decide to share what I learned with others as I went :)

@@usskullhunter That's awesome that you made that choice. I taught myself Chip carving about 20 years ago because it's an old craft. I've done woodworking, and metal working my hole life. Was a machinist for 15 years. So I really enjoy making things, and any crafts that real common. Keep up the great video work too. Your very good at organizing the subject matter and not rambling like some RU-vidrs do. Thank you for taking on the need to past on a skill like this.

When you put your final over coat of CA glue do you only put it over the turquoise area or do you brush it over the whole skull?
@usskullhunter
@usskullhunter 5 лет назад
I just put in on the area of the inlay and a little bit around the it.
