Imagine if somebody came from the other direction. It was scary enough driving forward. I couldn't imagine having to drive that trail backwards. F that !!!
OMGosh, that INTRO's just over the top, Richie, I love it and I love you, too! Happy New Year sweetheart! And thank you for bringing so much of God's marvelous world of nature to us! May our awesome God and Father, who created the heavens and the earth, continue to guide you and abundantly bless you in miraculous ways in this season that, I believe, God is gonna show His mighty hand and bring on HIS "Reset" for the world! 🤣💖💖💖💖💖💖💖🕊🌳
Richie is one brave man. I still only go on 4x4 roads with others. But I carry all the stuff. Even fire extinguisher or power stuff. Color me C Grant guy in movie writing about camping but cant fish. But homely as the bullfrogs.
These Az roads were never for ATVs. I used to take my old International Scout then short bed F-150 on them. Ever since ATVs were hatched these roads just keep getting thin rocky and very narrow. Then the monsoon storms wash the roads into sidehill washes.
Heart stopping video to watch Richie.... you are such a good story teller, has me on the edge of my seat!! Thank you for creating these, but please do us a favour and tell someone where you are going! 😳
@@juliewriston980 Small world! I was 19 and living in my pseudo camper van at the foot of black mountain, under the only tree around with any shade! Population 500 at the time.
People!!!! First and foremost never go off-roading alone!!!! BUT!! if you do then at least let somebody know you're heading out and have provisions. Second!! Always have a map of where you are going!!! Third!!! I loved this video!! Nice views, good cometary and looks like a trail I want to hit someday. Thank you.
Bill Anderson from Lakeside Az. I worked for Cypress Bagdad in Bagdad, Az this guy hasn’t even been on a bad road near Skull Valley or Baghdad. He is a lightweight.
@@billandersson17 Well why don't you put out some videos of where you've been and share your experiences with the world instead of putting my friend Richie down.
Wow , loved every second of your video. Yeah , ive got a few stories like yours , some were easy pucker factors of 10 plus. Im in central ca. Once i took a trail similar to yours , deep drop off , one lane very rocky narrow , my buddy and i were deer hunting , this road was extremely rough, narrowly squeezing thru trees. We could not turn around , we got to bottom , found a 2 wheel drive truck with s 16 ft camping trailer parked. We figured this truck came from in front of us , we saw no one around the truck , contiinued sbout a mile , and rhe road ended. This guy took that 2 wheel truck and 16 ft trailed the same way we came in. I still cant imagine how they made it. On the way back , we stopped to check if they needed heip , wr got off with our rifles , went around to camper door side , no one around , then the back of my hair stood straight up , empty formaldehyde, and alcohol bottles every where, also respirator masks , we walked rigjt into a meth lab. Lucky no one around , the passenger side of trailer was scraped from hotting trees abd mountain side , unbelivable, but true. Thank you for your video, new subscriber here.
OH MY WORD!! I WOULD BE FREAKING OUT SOMETHIN AWFUL 🤪😮🤯 You are MUCH MUCH APPRECIATED ❤️ love the video/drones and wonderful scenery you capture. There's so much of the USA I've not had opportunity to travel. THANK YOU!! Pray God's protection of health and safety as you travel the USA to share all that is around. Hugs 🤗 love ❤️ n prayers 🙏..... Texas Nana here 🤠 PSALM 91 1/1/21
Skull valley is a wildly awesome area... we drive until it becomes a bit too much for our baby chariot, then hike the summits of these beautiful parts called home. Great video 👍. Your droning and driving skillz are fun to watch.
You're one crazy dude! You've probably mentioned this before but I don't remember, but is there a reason why you don't get yourself a k-9 partner? I got myself one when I had to travel alone and it sure made me feel better. He's my best bud now. Thank you for the great video.
Wow Richie! You are one bad ass crazy dude! I love and appreciate your truth videos but I'm starting to think I like this even more. My husband and I rented a jeep in Silverton Co. A few years back and drove the mt pass. Had never done anything like that before and was pretty scary and on the edge at times but no boulders like you went over. Your faith is amazing. I love your live until you die attitude. God bless. Spirit of faith.
Whoa! Watching that stressed me out, I had palpations as you navigated those cliffs! 😯😮Then you made that crack about a voodoo trail and I 😄 relaxed a little...but surely I hope you never do that again. 😆 Stay safe, God bless
Damn! That's truly the trail from hell that never ends! I've taken a few mystery turns and ended up on stuff like this. You just want it to be over. But, it does make great memories and video. Your content is always great, and I can't wait for the next adventure! Stay safe and blessed!
I FREAKIN LOVE watching this! I am Arizona born and raised. Spent lotsa time out four wheeling alot of the same terrain. Thanks for sharing brother 💕 God bless you Richie. .
Instead of the song that never ends you hit the road that never ends. It just goes on and on, my friend. I'm glad you got outta there and made this video! Amazing you can fly that drone and navigate that road at the same time! Mad skills Richie. Thanks
I miss the old channel rfb....really blows that big tech has become so scared of guys researching and spreading the truth, that they feel they need to shut u down. ..They knew U would be continuing to call out their bullshit, so they cut you from teamGootube. I found the RFB channel to be highly agreeable.
Way Kool video and great job doing this while your heart was pounding. I learned to drive in a CJ-5. Also had a 2-A flat bed dually with a quarter keg gas tank for the real fun days. Granny gear works. Awesome video!
JailBreak Overlander The “stay safe” mantra is particularly inappropriate here in the UK because it used to be used to remind people to use a condom, so it really isn’t life! Lol. It is just wrong on every level.
I lived in skull valley behind church where An aerial tram brought copper and gold Ore down from several mines you past. During depression gulches worked for placer gold. Stage coaches and ore wagons ran some of the roads carrying Supply's and mail. Copper Basin was One of first properties of Phelps Dodge. Javelina and Huge mule deer also Large mountain lions and Rattlesnakes. Model T Fords traversed these roads Also but roads to mines maintained. Should always carry several spares And think things out. And Forest service Maps dont trust.
Nice video Richie, we live back in Montana southwestern Montana I took my jeep up into the mountains behind Deer Lodge when I finally got up to the rougher part of the road it took all day to go 6 miles. That’s how rough it was the middle of July in Montana I got up to the top of the ridge and saw a 20 foot high snow drift in the trees. From there it was all downhill to the lakes. I was by myself and I decided not to take any risky chances. So park the jeep and hiked down the road to the bottom. This is just to make sure that I knew that I could make it back up. It was on the side of a cliff probably about seven 800 feet high going across a landslide that was all loose shell. When I was done at the end of the day my reward was a cabin with a woodstove in it first come first serve. this of course is back in 1973 before there was any way of actually being able to film it easily. when I get up the next morning the jeep would not start the starter was not engaging to the solenoid. I spent the next two hours winching the jeep back up a steep hill from the cabin(this was done with a come along no mechanical winch) then I was able to turn on the ignition and roll down the hill in low range second gear and drop the clutch to start the engine. I got very lucky once again I was by myself. this is probably the roughest road I’ve ever been on with my jeep.To this day I look back at this experience and of course take along all the lessons I learned. Your story and video was very well done and very professional.
Ritchie this shows how fearless you are. You have done a fabulous job of creating these videos for our enjoyment. Hats off to you my friend. Stay safe.
When you said skull valley, oh no. I don't know that areas old history, but recent is bad. It has a bad reputation with the most evil of the biker gangs hang out there. It could have been a lot worse for you! Probably a good place to dump a body! Locals probably wouldn't go there without a gun, a badge, bullet proof vest , arrest warrant and a posse! Glad you made it out of there!
@@ronamer1 Most of us in the west have grown up driving these kind of trials since we had a license, so to us, they're no big deal. But remember Richie is from Boston and what we consider the side of a hill is a cliff to him, where he's never experienced it. That said he'd better stay away from Johnson Valley and Moab, I think he'd have a heart attack on Lions Back, Moab Rim, Pritchett Canyon etc. or any of the hammer trails : )
@@twotwentyswift there is a trail near me that is much steeper and narrower and it is usually wet because it is in the shade between two hills. It looks far more dangerous than this trail, so I enjoyed this video. 😁 Cheers!
That trail is definitely made by/for cars. All this old trails were made way before side by sides and before atvs were common enough to make a trail. Prob some old mining trail. Im from Wyoming and stuck in Michigan now and man do I miss wheelin. Thanks Richie! Bringing back some damn good old memories with my pops. Rip.
Another wonderful adventure Richie!! Thank you so much for going to all the trouble to record it for us. May God‘s blessings be upon you abundantly this coming year❤️🙏🏼
At 8:18 it almost looks like a little cabin at the top of the hill💯 That was sure narrow and steep. Ive been in Prescott 23 years and been on many off roads but never took that trail. I didnt pay enough attention to see the shock blow! Great video and awesome drone footage, even tho its a lot of work by yourself out there🤙 Thanks Richie🌟⛏️💚
Yup seems like all the trails here in AZ are endless. We carry lots of fuel, and even more water. Without water in the desert, forget about it, dehydration sets in very fast. Then there is the heat during the day, and the cold at night, you can literally get hypothermia at night after a long hot day. . Good job.
Lmao 🤣 Richie!! Arizona back trails can go for DAYS!! I REALLY REALLY ENJOYED this video. Thx so much! I would love to meetcha someday! ❤️ Stay safe and God bless...
Incase there are others who stumble upon this video in 2023, if you plan to go offroad, please always tell at least one person where you're going, what time you are going, and a rough estimate of when you'll be back. And try to do a little research about the trail ahead of time. There's tons of info out there for every trail out here, maps, and apps specific for this kind of thing that allows you to download maps to use offline. Don't just go into trails blind without informing anyone. And never rush the trail. Aside from all that, great footage of the trail!
It takes an hour to go 15 miles into my property in Concho Az....we have Juniper there as well, with Pinion growing from each dead Juniper...great video Richie..
Wow incredible driving and video work Richie! Thank You I really appreciate it!! I know the camera doesn’t really show how difficult and scary that trail really is but really great job and thanks for sharing!!
Wow.....awesome video Richie, that takes some balls bro......glad you made it to Prescott in one piece. Thanks for sharing this adventure takes a lot of skill to make a good video and negotiate that trail.
I watched the whole video hoping to see some sort of dangerous trail section. Never seen it. Did you say you didn’t know where you were? Lots of drama, but not very believable.
Watched to the end as I always do with your videos and this one made my anxiety shoot thru the roof! Thank you for taking me where I'll never be able to go. Stay safe Richie and God Bless!
after years of watching your "other" channel's I have to tell you man..You should be very proud brother...Putting your money where your mouth is and living it up 100% giant hat tip brother.
"You think being married is bad" Lol. Before you saying that, I was thinking a wife would be concerned for your safety all the time. It would be a smidge uncomfortable for her and may cause some hassles. I pray for your safety always. I enjoy watching even if I can't breath until it is over. God bless you Richie.
@@zonacrs It takes a lot of courage and love for the sport to do what he does. It would be a benefit to have more men with his skills and talents. God bless you.
As always you don't disappoint at all and your narriation is great I don't see why you haven't written your own book .Chasing the overlands End. the memoirs of the Overlander. I'd buy a copy well keep up the great work tell RFB (Arrow from Cleveland said what's up oh ya his parole officer called and told me arrow should be able to travel soon he got dropped to low status so all he has to do is call every 3 months.... This is blessing from God .... Thanks Overlander..
Very cool my friend! Yup those are white knuckled drives indeed! Fantastic vid! You should come on out to some of our crazy mountains in British Columbia Canada sometime! I think you would quite enjoy my friend! Cheers!
A couple things - 1st, one thing I’ve learned is that if it looks remotely sketchy on camera it’s sketchy AF in real life. Camera’s never do terrain justice. 2nd thing - I’ve been there! I once got a wild hair and went out exploring on my motorcycle alone on an unknown trail. I remember at more than one point thinking, as I bombed down the trail “I hope this comes out somewhere cuz I won’t be able to get back UP some of this” Well, the trail didn’t come out anywhere. I was alone, nobody knew where I was, and I didn’t have any cell service. I was super fortunate that a jeep, the first one I’d seen all day, came along and winched my bike back up some of the nastiest sections. Lesson learned and I definitely made that Jeeper’s day. I’m sure he still tells the story around the camp fire to this day - the stupid guy on the motorcycle that got in above his head and needed a jeep to winch him out. Haha.
Was out there with some buddies on SXS's few weeks ago. Was going to ask if you been there when I ran into you on side of the road 2 weeks ago. Cheers brother. Like to shoot the breeze with you for an hour or so if you are still in town
Hey man! Just found your channel. I am an Arizona native and only recently have been to Skull Valley and left mesmerized by it. It is an amazing place; Untouched and desolate. I have been off roading here for years. I am not sure how to put this, but this video put me at peace. I love the AZ desert and love hitting this type of trail. You captured it perfectly; The excitement, the fear, the stress of an unknown trail and the hurried pressure of a setting sun. This hit home for me. Thanks for the video! Thanks for sharing our beautiful state!
It makes me laff at some of the really imaginative names for some of these places in americaaa ! 1 turn road ! three peak ridge ! 2 spring valley ! Steep hill walk ! shear drop road ! 1 brothel savanna ! hay maskers trail ! rocky road ! No through road ! one way street ! 1 bar road ! 1 diy shop highway ! Gasping for air mountain ! Broken shoes walk !
WOW! Super intense, love it, I was scared for you, beautiful scenery. You definitely have balls LOL and some serious driving skills. Thank you so much for sharing with us, I’ve only dreamed about seeing and doing the things that you do thank you for taking us along. Excellent camera skills as well. Safe travels God bless. 😘👋🏼
I live in AZ and am horrified of height and glad I could experience this trip vicariously through you. BUT YOU ARE INSANE! I subscribed anyway! Stay safe.
Owning a plain GX470 - Landcruiser J150 platform, this makes me want to add a lift, offroad tires & storage drawers and head for the trails. Maybe even a snorkel, a drone & a rooftop tent...
Sorry but I saw lots of places where you could turn around or let others through and not much hard rock obstacles or steep hills. Seemed benign. The thing that scares me about exposure is off camber roads where if you start slipping you could go right over the side.
Love your videos, I am a Connecticut boy...son lives in Boulder, goes to meet each autumn, he has a Rubicon, we do some easy off-road stuff...not like you do.
They have since fixed a lot of the road since my first experience on it but you wanna talk about straight down, literally cars from the 40s and 50s lying at the bottom of a 1000 foot drops, hit Apache Trail between Apache Junction all the way to Roosevelt Lake along the Salt River. Looking at the pictures it looks like they grade it now and have some crap wooden side rails up in places but 20 years ago it was a horse trail. Still a good drive, great views and long drops ending at some nice camping.
