Ultra breathable, good wader. Very light and "sweat free". Went with the size Medium rather than keeping the large which my initial testing was done in.

The Dryft GD wading pants are great. I use these Dryft pants when it’s warm and use my Simms G4Z’s the rest of the time. Thanks!!

I’m currently looking for waders and I’m in the South East, so UL is my target weight. Are there any advantages to the Skwala Carbon vs the Orvis UL Convertible. Both offerings seem to tick the same boxes.

any idea why they aren't incorporating knee pads into the RS & Carbon?

Not sure, I think its a matter of options as many folks are crawling around. Gives 'em a choice I suppose. I would say that I prefer the BackEddy over all models.

So if you could only have one pair of waders to use for trout fishing (no winter spey fishing) which would you use?

Carbon.

I went to their website and asked where their waders were made- they said China and I didn’t like that answer. I think there have to be more people wearing them to get a better idea whether they will stand the test of time and show quality control. I’m sure a bunch of other brands make their waders in the far East as well so not saying these won’t be great, just need to wait and see.

@@cachi-7878 I get that. As I researched these I learned there are places in China that are state of the art, and technicians that are absolute experts on working with these materials. Good folks that have spent their careers perfecting their craft. I’ve been extremely impressed with every element of these. Nothing cheap here, the best place to build these happens to be over there.

@@cachi-7878I'd rather them made in China than by some fat, lazy, greasy American that doesn't give crap

will these guys be in business down the road when there is an issue is a risk I don't think is worth the chance.....I remember when Cloudveil was all the rage........

Ha yea good question. We were part of the "Cloudveil Experiment" back in about 2008. They leaked so bad it was apparent that it wasn't a good product. I've tested 3 models of these fairly hard, ZERO leaks. Bone dry. This company isn't going anywhere but up.

Hi can you pee in these by just putting down the chest portion similar to zip waders? Thanks
@redsflyshop

Ha yea but not by much. Peeing uphill ain't easy hahahaha. If you unclip the waist belt it's easier.

A misconception about breathable material is that they breath and are waterproof but really that and should be an or. If they’re wet they won’t breath. I’m looking at these vs grounders and or is. Simms has lost me as a customer. There quality sucks anymore.

That's a good point. Overall when I need mine to breath is usually when I'm wading shallow (most of the time) and my knees up is in the hot sun, knees down is in the water. Or rowing my boat, or hiking between spots. I don't really sweat when I'm wading in the water deep and not moving much. When I hike from spot to spot on a hot day however, I need a wader that breathes. I used to get drenched in sweat. On hot days I wear my Carbons with a tight fitting base layer and it's amazing. I move better and fish better.

how is their customer service? .. simms is pretty much no question asked free replacement if anything goes wrong.. is skwalla equally good? has anyone had to send them in yet?? what was their response?

Have not heard of a single issue yet, and we’ve sold a lot of these. They repair them in Bozeman, Montana which is where all customer service originated from. We are a big Simms dealer and it’s always a “repair first” and not replace as it should be. Have you had to return Simms waders personally?

@@redsflyshop ya ive sent in a bunch of pairs of g4z's with minimal problems and they always replace ... I think probably 8 times in the last 10 years or so ... Anything from booties wearing out to pocket zipper problems ...i always expect them to fix it they seem go just think its easier to send me a fresh pair .. Recently sent in 2 hip packs and they send me brand new one .. Was just curious.. Im in missoula so I like supporting stuff made in state .. Always swore by summs but gonna have to try some of these skwallas sooner or later
