Note from the devs: Hello there! Dev team here Thanks a bunch for the review, and thanks everyone for the comments. It's great to see such respect and empathy from the community
Skies of Arcadia is my favorite game of all time, so even if Sky Oceans: WfH is absolutely terrible I'm still happy to know that at least someone is doing something with a similar concept if Sega themselves isn't going to. Honestly the more attention it gets the more likely Sega are to do something with the SoA IP, so for that reason alone I was in from the moment I saw the trailer.
It's nice that you give both the bad and good of what the show can improve on in a good constructive way. I do love the art style in this game with the portraits and the models are cute. I do not have as many issues with graphics as long as the art direction is good enough. If they can add some more expression or animation to the models and fix some of the technical issues and smooth out the experience more, it looks like a fun game to play.
I never played Sky of Arcadia but this game has gotten my interest and I decided to get. Hopefully all major or annoying bugs will be patched when I play it soon. Thanks for your review which has really been helpful
Thanks for doing a review, I was interested in this. At this point in my life though, if it’s a single player game, I’ll wait for sale. Only time I won’t is if it’s a hot multiplayer/coop game that I’m afraid may die out if I wait a year or 2 till sale.
How did they make it look worse than the game from twenty years ago? I mean the animation bits are fine but the game itself looks like a middling mobile game I can look past that if the gameplay shines, but it’s kinda shocking it looks so cheap
I’d never buy a game that looks like this. That owl house meets steven universe-ass wannabe anime art style is just cringe man. On top of that, a passing resemblance to Skies of Arcadia really doesn’t make it a successor in any way. If the same people were involved in making it, maybe I’d call it a successor, spiritual or otherwise. Calling it that seems a little clickbait and lame…
