In Australia they have a cricket show in the lunch break and this one day they had a camera behind the ball when Shane Warne bowled and for the first time I understood the spin and how good he was!
It still saddens me everytime I remember Warnie's gone. We missed out on so much with him passing so young. A giant of the game as a player and broadcaster. Miss you King...
I just miss Shane's knowledge of cricket. He wasn't just a great bowler but he was also an excellent fielder and he could bat pretty well. He encouraged so many people all over the world in quite a selfless way.
A absolute gentleman. I was never the biggest cricket fan but when Shane Warne was in town you had to watch. People say he changed cricket but I don't agree with that. It was just his talent that drew people like me, he was unique not just his talent but his sportsmanship was huge. I think it's sad the only one of the top 5 not a sir!!!
In my mid-30s, no longer playing (work, family, etc), I saw a 15-minute lunch interval clip of him talking about spin bowling on UK Channel4. Learned more in those minutes than from all the years of coaching (including from ex-county leg spinner), training, practice, and playing I had from age 8 to 30. Suddenly, I could spin hard both ways, control pace, flight, length, drift, loop like never before. Was a monster in the nets and wished I could have my cricket all over again - would have played two tiers higher level
and it still hurts knowing that Warne is no more..he's a loss for entire world..greatest spinner ever, one of the greatest tactician, could been the greatest Captain had he not got involved in drugs..Warne is what we call once in cricket, not just once in generation
Warne is the most insightful cricketer ever, he could explain any cricket related art, especially spin bowling. NO ONE knew spin bowling like WARNIE!!!!! The Greatest Bowler ever.
There are some great people in commentary for sure, but fucken hell we miss Warnie. It's just not the same without him. We missed him terribly on the field when he retired, but we still had him in the commentary box. But like Rob Key said: "That's done now". What a loss. Cherish what you've got people, never take it for granted. It can be taken from you at any time.
I'm loving the ashes. I love cricket. I'm an Englishman but my god I love the commentary here. Having said that I really miss him. I miss his knowledge and his balance in the commentary box. I miss seeing him bowl and I miss the comfort and familiarity that his voice gave me when I listened to the cricket. Miss you dude and thank you for everything. You were the best I've ever seen. Love from a humble Englishman ❤
Warne for me was the absolute best cricketer ever. I love England, but ability, personality, commentator, energy, mental approach. So, so brilliant. I loved him, and he died 2 days after my dad
@@sentimentalbloke185Probably true, he would have either been winnowed out at the schoolboy level or distrusted and not allowed any maturing time in first class cricket, plus his hair and attitude would preclude international selection. Our selectors have improved some but it was hidebound eejits when Mr. Warne first turned up.
What I loved about Warney (aside from everything said here) is that he loved cricket so much that I would have paid good money to hear what he had to say about Bazball - he would have been all over it even though it was England. He always loved the mavericks, those who would take a risk. Sorely missed.
Spot on mate.. and i agree. He would have too.. he did love the marvericks and blokes who would take the risk and game head on. Legend Warnie. Best cricketer of my lifetime.
Mate, he would have loved the English side under Stokes captaincy......Typical Aussie side instead of the safe English side of old. He would be hoping and praying to witness the next ashes.
Played cricket for 20 years grew up with it my whole life felt lucky to have seen him play when he retired we all sighed we knew the best was giving it up Then we learned that Warnie was the most wonderful commentator and when the day came that i heard on the radio the great had passed i actually turned my car around and drove home stopped me in my tracks i went home got very emotional thinking about the gravity of it all and after some time it hit me i wasnt going to be able to listen to him commentate for the next 25 years There will never be another Warnie G.O.A.T. RIP King Of Spin - Shane Keith Warne
Warney's legacy is the revival of the treasured art of leg spin bowling, which was virtually extinct in cricket at the time, robbing the sport of one of its fascinating facets and skills.Richie Benaud's commentary when Warne was bowling is a cricketing memory i will always treasure, because as a fine exponent of leg spin bowling himself, he knew exactly the thought processes and mechanics involved when Warne was setting an opposing batsman up for dismissal.Thank you Shane and Richie both for the great memories and you will both be sorely missed by every lover of the great sport of cricket.
He was so knowledgable about cricket leave aside his skills as a player. Certainly opiniated and biased at times but an excellent commentator. Not afraid to voice an opinion without playing it safe. Greatest spin bowler ever and arguably the greatest test player ever.
What an extraordinary talent Shane was. Once he cemented his spot in the national team, he was hardly ever in bad form. The first to 700 Test wickets, finishing with nearly twice that of DK Lillee, a onetime WR holder for most Test wickets, further (in my opinion) vindicated the reverent status Wisden bestowed upon him. To hear the beautiful tributes, including from the man on the wrong end of THAT Ball in 1993, Mike Gatting. I, like so many others, so loved him, so STILL miss him. 🏏😢🏏 ❤
We loved you and we miss you, Shane. He is a great loss from the game. And then for Andrew Sympnds to go just a few months after it was a double whammy. 😥😥
The absolute bain of every England supporters life but an absolute legend and he reminds me of Gaza a floored legend but a legend all the same the greatest of all time regardless of what the records say
Odd friendship between Shane and Rob Key. Perhaps The greatest bowler ever, and Rob Key. A lovely bloke, a decent cricketer, but not really in the same league. They were inseparable for years. Seemed to go everywhere together.
Still cannot believe warnie has gone such a legend on and off the pitch how I wish he was English god bless Shane you with always be the greatest r I p mate
Me and my mates on Saturdays, kicking arse, smoking durries, giving the other team arseholes, smashing the beers and pulling Sheila's. We all thought we were Shane Warne and we had the time of our lives.
