No gigabit ethernet port (capped at 100Mbps) no frame rate matching for content = no deal. You're using dated technology. Will stick to the Apple TV 4k box, which has a gigabit ethernet port, frame rate and dynamic range matching and lets you enjoy NOWTV content (sports, movies, entertainment) and most other apps in their correct frame rates and visual quality. Freeview and NOWTV on a proper streaming device completely negates the need for this. It's definitely a good idea but you should have offered a pro tier version of the box.
Is this trash going to freeze every day as well? Still waiting for apps to appear on my Sky Q box after 2 months of being pissed about by sky, will just cancel I think, overrated crap.
I've been with Sky (TV & Broadband) for well over 10 years, but due to 'trees growing big' i am now without a TV service. With this being a more streamlined product i expected the pricing to be more competitive, but as i was never that impressed with the quality of entertainment (all channels should be hd, as standard) for its price, this isn't much cheaper and still doesn't offer anything that much better than with Sky+ and WHY should I have to pay MORE for 4k? Sky certainly isn't moving forward, just the same old crap and overpriced (as usual).
I know some1 from UK who still keep SKY as SD .Streaming dont expect same quality .Compare netfllix to disney+ .Netflix have audio choice 5.1 and stereo Disney dont have . Sky is still living in their 2010s .
@@SL-qg7zt audio Netflix have support switching from 5.1 to 2.1 if your sustem is 4 speakers no surround. Disney just audio and subs settings . HBO max have poor 4k movies quality . I havnt yet seen Amazon quality as i dont have it but seen trailers. HBO max is only service which support Dolby Vision ?
@@SL-qg7zt they dont update fuck all disney don't, there been fuck all on disney worth watching, you like obi won did you? Lolol it was crap, what the other one endor? That was crap, the movies in the selection havent updated for weeks, star in the section on disney hasnt updated for weeks, disney is shit unless you like watching the same movies over and over
This is a question I need to know before buying...so local news..say utv Northern Ireland is at 6pm....can it be added to a playlist as wouldn't be home until 8pm
Subtitles frequently not working (or at all on UHD content). Playlists breaking constantly. Ads, ads, and more ads. TV guide taking an age to load. All for £40 to £85 a month! And all in a jittery, laggy interface that Sky did their absolute best to hide with some clever jump-cuts in this tutorial.
I had real trouble opening the remote control!! For anyone else struggling to open it: you need to place one palm over it and one under the remote and move your palms in the opposite direction
SKY Glass is a con. I bought Sky Glass, not on a credit agreement, I stupidly bought it and paid in full in March. The TV was at first faulty and got replaced in July. Between then and now I've had a growing frustration with it. Ultimately this product is inferior to Q. You can't record. You get less channels. So I decided I wanted out. The problem is this. When I did the research I discussed the TV with a Sky Rep at a stand, and gave him the hypothetical situation that if I wanted to change product in the future I could sell the TV (the benefit of buying it outright) and someone else could use it. They said yes, this was possible. Well. That is a lie. You can't. When you sell the TV no one else can use it and attach a Sky Glass subscription to it. Basically it is useless. You ae essentially painting yourself into a corner as you now have a TV no one wants to buy as it can't be used as the thing it is advertised for. Needless to say I am now seeking legal advice on this. As SKY clearly must have the ability to attach anew subscription to a TV. They are basically just limiting the free trade of the TVs on the open market (people wanting to sell as they want a new product) but buyers not being able to use the TV. I'm now raising this with a number of consumer bodies. SKY must have the ability to change TVs to new owners as they did when they sent me my new one - and let’s face it they will have sold on the faulty TV after they had fixed it. People need to be aware of this limitation with Glass. An inferior product to Q. And ultimately an inability to be able to sell on for the purpose it was intended. I tried to resolve the mis selling with SKY and they have washed their hands of it.
i agree i would skip the tv, i notice the do a 4k version now but i think tbh it will all be changed to online, they will get rid of the dishes all together so they can save on engineers itll all be online and probably change the name to sky stream plc
The TV is ridiculously expensive. For the half price better TV with lot more features are available.. or just adding a simple android TV box to any TV will still be better value both for money and entertainment
Wow, I’m so glad I saw this. That’s disgusting. So basically they just get scrapped because of the limited usage. Terrible. I’m trying to cancel my sky q because it’s just becoming unaffordable. Think I’ll just go with stream, or now tv.
As in normal channels yes but not all freeview/sky Q channels are available yet on sky sterm & sky glass. Sky go app isn’t made for Sky sterm/sky glass it’s current Sky go app was originally just Sky q the old Sky + app shut down & sky go basically merged some of features. Sky go won’t be compatible but I would say within next 5 to 8 years they will likely have a new app for Sky glass/sterm. As satellite contract for UK expires in 2028 for Sky & Freesat to use. Freeview channel will be around until 2032 before freeley takes over from freeview & freesat. As apparently that’s the lifespan of the satellite. Hope that helps.
It's not completely perfect is it? I bet you can't record programmes and I bet there's no hard drive in the TV. What if a TV show or a movie is removed from a streaming service? What if you've got a problem with your Sky Broadband (like people here did this evening apparently) on the 10/04/2024 and you've got no offline TV shows that you recorded? You're just stuck there watching nothing the whole evening. Could've been easy to do.
Where Can I get a guide to explain how to do simple things. I am not tech savvy and navigating this is actually stressing me so much that I am considering quitting sky ans sticking to my laptop
Sky…. Rubbish is the best I can say always lied to when arranging a new contract, the boxes constantly pay up (rubbish quality) your staff are always happy to use the crap attitude instead of using the common sense one. Genuinely hope you go out of business as the service on all lvls has become pathetic!!!
I just don't understand who this product is for. NOW does the same thing as Sky Stream and its a fraction of the price! And not only that you can cancel and restart a membership anytime you want so its much more flexible than Sky Stream's 18 month or 31 day rolling contracts. This seems so pointless.
Had to have sky stream as new flat don't allow dishes and do I miss my sky q box ,hate the fact can't record unlike BT . Unless new stream box comes with record feature then IAM off to BT when contract up plus missing number of channels
Sky, the subtitles aren't working properly on the Sky Stream. The black borders are really big and some words randomly display an empty black box. Please can you fix this?
Hi can someone help me connect my sky box. I have hooked up the cables and it takes me to let's get connected, and the I can't scroll up or down with the remote.
If you could fix all the bugs that would be ideal, to name 3:- Audio turning off when audio codec changes Subtitles don’t work Unit turns off when paused on sky channels! Bonkers that you can’t get the basics right! Will be returning to sky q shortly, all support do is try to get you to factory reset the unit!
Don't need to record. You add the show to the playlist then when u want to watch it it's already there waiting in the cloud. Same thing just different process.
I asked if I could have a Sky box, on my current internet provider and was told that,Sky stream box only operates if your internet subscription is with virgin media (or obviously Sky!) . So seems like it doesn't make any sense to purpose.
What I need to know before I purchase is that I would like to see every premium live channels I can watch with this device. I looked everywhere and can't find anything. I don't care about recorded tv shows or netflix, all I care about is actual LIVE channels. Please help
How does it handle searching for a movie that appears on multiple different platforms? So you ask to play “avengers” and it appears on sky cinema and Disney? Which platform does it prioritise? Does it bring up an option saying it appears on multiple platforms - asking which one you want to watch
If the Internet goes down for whatever reason the built in freeview part of TV is really really poor, seriously its awfull.. Sky could easily make it alot better. You can not even scroll to see whats on later, It only gives you the prog on now and the next programme. So if the Internet goes be prepared for the terrible built in freeview
So it's run through my Internet broadband not my cables from my Sky dish? What is the signal quality like? Does it still go down during bad to very heavy rain?
A dish is still more reliable than a stream if the set up is correct and done properly , dish location is very important however heavy heavy rain is unavoidable at times
A broadband connection will never give you as much data as an (unubstructed) satellite data signal. With satellite you are into microwave-size wavelengths. Plus a satellite tv signal will continue to work even without a tv-service subscription, whereas a broadband tv service requires a monthly subscription (which does include line rental, even if you don't get it specifically itemised on your bill) Plus with freesat type boxes you can record the content you want to watch again **and** you aren't at risk of losing your recordings 'because you cancelled your subscription'.
Hello, any help would be great. Had sky stream a day and the Apple TV app won't get past the opening logo. Just freezes. Is there a way to individually reset an app. Thanks.
@@bobbyfitness4480 thanks for the reply. It turned out the whole Apple tv network on stream was down. I'm really disappointed with how rubbish stream is. Though took receipt of a new box and looks to have sorted things out... Fingers crossed.
If you check in the remote there a bit of plastic that stops the connection (basically so the battery isn't being warn down) if you remove that it will work 👍 kind like with kids toys. I think that was the most common issue with people not getting their remote to work straight away.
I am VERY happy with my new Sky Stream. I've had Sky via a dish for about 23 years but that doesn't work for me now (long story - big trees). I've had Sky Stream for about a week and it "just works". The interface is slick and easy to use. I can find what I want very easily. It's Sky but without the dish, nice! As an added bonus it has halved my monthly bill, which is awesome! :)
