As a lifelong Bond fan, I think this is Craig's best performance as 007.

Highest-grossing Bond film of all time. Released during the 50th Anniversary. Bond remembering his tragic past, rebuilding his body & soul, recharging his character to being the best in the game. Judi Dench as the only female 'M'. Playing the role within 17 years and 2 eras. Tied with the late Bernard Lee, who played the role first in these films. Saw this in IMAX and i was blown away. Bardem as the villain, Introducing franchise favorites (Q & Moneypenny) finally, getting a new M and the theme by Adele is so good. A definite bounce-back from the previous film. Showing us once again in the spy genre why no does it better than 007.

It took watching with you to realize how good this one is… I could never square myself with M dying… and Bond failing in his mission which is to protect her. I absolutely love how they introduce the new Moneypenny and Q… both are PERFECT (I could watch your reaction to both over & over again)… and the way that M is “the Bond Girl” here is simply brilliant. Watching Jen nerding out at this movie is adorable. This is by FAR my favorite Bond movie. A great Bond movie can’t be great without an amazing villain.

Seeing Jen's face light up from explosions always brings a smile to my face

A film about revisiting the past, reckoning with prior mistakes and facing old traumas...and then blowing them up. In other words, the perfect way to celebrate 50 years of Bond. Skyfall is my personal favourite Bond film, it's a perfect marriage of the goofy style old-school Bond films and the darker and more gritty tone of the new films. It's really fun and well-written, with some genuinely great dialogue (M's big speech before the enquiry always gives me chills), great development of Bond and M's pseudo-maternal relationship, and a great exploration of Bond's relevance in the modern age. Daniel Craig is as excellent as ever, Judi Dench gives a fantastic performance in her last appearance as M, and Javier Bardem makes for one of the best villains in the entire series. The action is fun and spectacular, Thomas Newman's score is wonderfully unique yet still distinctively Bondian, and Roger Deakins' cinematographer is just unbelievably gorgeous - easily the best-looking Bond film. It might be partly driven by nostalgia, since it was the first Bond film I saw in cinemas, but I think this is the absolute peak of the series and one of the best action films ever made

This is arguably the best Bond film because it works for everyone. Even if you don't like Bond it's a great movie. Despite anyone saying it rips off Dark Knight etc. I think it's endlessly watchable.

Jen, you are hands down the best Bond reactor online! The fact that you are a lover of film music brings me a different appreciation of these films, because you pay such close attention to the score, which I almost always only notice in a film when it seems really inappropriate, or I don't appreciate it until I have watched a film many times (such as the original Star Wars trilogy). It's also great that you are experiencing all the different Bond portrayers and villains relatively close together in time, so that you really pick up on the parallels and callbacks that some of us didn't always notice the first time through since it was 30 years between the films they were referencing. I thought the same thing right after seeing Skyfall. But after some time went by I re-watched both Skyfall and Casino Royale and it's hands down Casino Royale for me.

Others have said this, and I agree with this belief - Skyfall may not have the best of a particular 'thing' (theme song, action sequences, plot and storyline twists, characters, casting and performances, gadgets, drama, serious stakes, humour), but take these 'things' together and Skyfall is one of the best Bond films in modern times, if not overall. It is definitely one of my top favourite films in the Bond series.

The "killer iguana" is a Komodo Dragon. Their bite is highly venomous and their attack is vicious enough to rip a man to shreds. Perfect for a Bond Villain to keep around as a pet. I also love the office of the new "M" being so similar to the old office that "M" had in the Sean Connery days. Perfect callback for the series.

This is my favorite Craig Bond. Javier Bardem’s Raoul Silva is up there with Goldfinger and Blofeld. It also provides some new Bond backstory which helps to flesh out his character. And it doesn’t hurt that the new Moneypenny is great.

I think this is the best looking Bond film ever because of cinematographer Roger Deakins. I also think that Adele's Skyfall is one of the best Bond theme songs ever. Right up there with Goldfinger, For Your Eyes Only, and A View To A Kill. But you just can't beat Duran Duran.

Not sure why the love for Skyfall! Bond fails at every turn. He loses the hard drive, he fails to catch Patrice, fails to save Ronson, he gets himself shot, he then finally kills Patrice but before getting answers. He only survives in the Casino thanks to Moneypenny. He then sleeps with a woman who was a victim of child prostetution, he only acts after Severine is shot so fails to save her too. He finally catches Silva, but only because he wanted to be caught. He loses Silva again at the court house, he then leads Silva to Skyfall, only to get M killed lol. Apart from that, Skyfall is awesome lol 😆

Definitely on the short list of best Bond films of the franchise. I still like No Time to Die better, but Skyfall is fantastic!

I knew you were going to love the Moneypenny name reveal. Sad about M, but Judy gave a lot of years to the franchise. Not quite as long as Lois Maxwell or Desmond Llewellyn, but still an impressive tenure. Possible names for your manor, Bollinger Hall and Villains Lair.

Great reaction! I'm sad that you're running out of James Bond movies. Way back in "Goldeneye," Sean Bean/Alec Trevelyan also mentions that Bond lost his parents in a climbing accident; it's one of the few biographical details that the series has consistently honored - like how even when Dalton was playing the role they reference that Bond was married once even though it was the Lazenby Bond. Having his birthplace be in Scotland also honors Sean Connery. This came along when big blockbusters were borrowing the idea from The Joker in "The Dark Knight" that the big villain gets captured halfway through but it turns out THAT WAS HIS PLAN ALL ALONG! See also Loki in "The Avengers." Naomie Harris does such a terrific job as Eve Moneypenny - I think she's smart enough to know that when Bond sleeps with his sexy co-workers they usually wind up dead; so she enjoys flirting with him and surviving. Her big breakthrough role was in the tremendously thrilling and scary zombie movie "28 Days Later" with Cillian Murphy. Well worth putting on your list.

Director Sam Mendes brought "his" composer Thomas Newman to the film. I was a little unsure because Newman's compositions tend to be more jazzy and he doesn't write the big wind and string sections. But he did a great job connecting his style to James Bond.

The producers briefly considered casting Sean Connery as Kincade, but decided it would take the audience out of the picture too much. Instead it became the last film role of the late, great Albert Finney.

My favourite Daniel Craig Bond film. The story of revenge makes a change from the usual "hold the world to ransom via superpowerful weapon" trope of so many other entries in the franchise.

The Walther ppk-s is the update of classic bond gun. Just in the .380 kurz(short caliber) the previous Bond gun was the standard ppk which was in .32acp. The .380(9mm) kurz is the shorter and less powerful derivative of the 9mm parabelum.

To answer your question about the themes, there are quite a few themes that have the same name as the film they’re from, but they’re mostly from the older films. Off the top of my head, there’s Licence to Kill, Moonraker, From Russia With Love, The Man With The Golden Gun, Goldeneye, Skyfall, Thunderball, Live and Let Die and probably a couple of others. Ooooh, Diamonds Are Forever and The World Is Not Enough as well

A thing to notice - in the opening chase he gets into the cabin of a digger, it’s smart because it’s bullet proof. The digger can push up stones at high speed so he’s clever.

The island with the ruins that Bond is taken to is Hashima Island, an abandoned island off the city of Nagasaki. There was an undersea coal mine located there and a town was built on the island to house the workers, including Korean and Chinese prisoners. It was abandoned when the mine ran out of coal.

This is probably the Last true Bond film. In terms of marrying up the old and the new. And in my humble opinion probably Craig's best performance. In terms of Bond it seems that the third times a charm. Great review as always love the little flourishes tuxedo etc. Keep up the good work Jen.

Omg the tense and amazing banter between M and Bond in the Aston Martin cracked me up something fierce first time I saw this movie. It's well written, the action sequences are great, Bond's down and maybe out but then gets to rise - hero's journey stuff - wicked badguy, soundtrack is a superb balance between classic sounds and wicked new beats... What's there not to like? (2nd fav Bond? *ahem* Moonraker. And I'm not ashamed to admit it either.)

I understand why this would be your favourite Bond.Outstanding elements all coming together.Q. The M’s. Moneypenny. The Aston Martin. Story and action totally blended. And music that was simply pure dope! And a one of a kind Bond girl. Still don’t know why! Am going to miss her terribly. Enjoyed the reaction. Stellar of course. For me, the film is overrated. That isn't to say that it's a bad Bond film. It isn't. It's excellent. But Zoomers like to say everything in their era is the best. I still put the early Connery films, The Living Daylights, OHMSS, For Your Eyes Only and Casino Royale ahead of this one. Again, that makes it an upper echelon Bond film for me, but not the best. If anything, the plot is pretty similar to Goldeneye. I personally consider it better than that, mostly because it's devoid of the silly, 13 year old boy one liners and that I hated about the Brosnan era. But when you have a film that has Bond both being shot by Moneypenny and fighting CGI "dragons," you've got some tonal inconsistencies that I'm not crazy about. It's those tonal inconsistencies that have prevented me from putting a lot of Bond films at the top of my list. I'm not going to criticize the film for being the 2nd major time we see Bond cry, because this is the guy from the novels. The novels ARE Bond. Dalton is the most Bond, but Craig was certainly trying to move back to that after the goofy Brosnan years. I just wish the pacing of these movies wasn't so ridiculous. Action movies today are made for squirming kids with ADHD. As a sufferer myself, I hate being stereotyped and From Russia With Love is still my favourite.

Every time I see this movie, I wonder why Bond didn't fight the henchmen BEFORE Silver shot the girl. I'm sure she wouldn't have been mad to stay alive. The guy pointing the gun at him was STILL right there.

Top tier Bond movie Best Villain, Javier Bardem was fantastic. And Best cinematography in the franchise.

3:43- This was the moment that I first saw Daniel Craig Bond and this stunt right here was the absolute coolest thing I've ever seen. I like this Bond so much.

In this movie they had to cgi Craigs hands in the after work because he wores gloves and thats a problem with his gun. You can see it after the fight in the dark he has out of the sudden gloves😅

Hi Jen. Just to let you know there was an idea to offer the part of Kincade the groundskeeper of Skyfall to Sean Connery. However the producers decided against it. I personally think that would've been awesome if they'd gone through with the idea and Connery would've agreed. However Albert Finney did a fantastic job and was an iconic actor in his own right.
