Melbourne in the 70's... wow it was sooo cool... all the free concerts, Moomba with the bathtub derby and birdman comp... Dragon, Sherbet, AC/DC, and so many more on Countdown.
The great sound of Skyhooks and the clever writing Greg Macainsh . Shirl was racing a bit here as he done this song a million times by then and just rushed it . I saw a few times and they were always spot on.
Think that I was there as a 15 year old. Saw them a lot. Loved them, this album is the album of so many teenage lives here. RIP Shirl, you're a legend.
Ahhhh now Red is one of the nicest people around. Dont believe everything you see on telly - it's never what it seems. He's also a great musician and a brilliant entertainer.
I didnt know that but it doesnt surprise me. He's always been a smart guy - he hides it under his public "grumpy character" most of the time. He's a gem.
Went to the day rehearsal, Greg was really sick and they were discussing what drugs he should take to do the show. The footage was edited at AAV in Sth Melbourne and I remember they had lots of technical issues with the vision. Lots of effects wer3 added to hide a few major glitches. It was a real kick to be at these places as a teen and see them as the real, very focused people they were.. getting Freddy to sign autographs at the “intermission” at the Old Palais was cool :)
im so stressed .. I had to move my wifes range rover out of the drive way so I could park the daughters audi on the street so could I park my Bentley on my driveway and the neighbour cursed me because his son couldn't get his Mercedes past my sons BMW.. I swear this world is going to the pack hmmmmmmmph..
Actually maybe they did several I went to In The Heat Of The Night gig at Myere Music Bowl - at conclusion fireworks ignited illuminating the letters THANKS MELBOURNE . And they were meant to depart next day. On their return - they played same venue - Brats are back tour. Another sellout.
