I ordered this sword in May of 2020 and didn't receive it until the end of September of the same year. There had been a lot of hype about this particular model from Skyjiro. I decided to get one with a 12" handle with a 30" blade. The fittings are very fine and the fit and finish are what Skyjiro is known for. This was a beautiful sword that had one of the best polishes I've ever seen ... especially for a sword at this price range ($500-$600ish). The blade came very sharp and had a nice fit with the saya. My big issue with this sword is that it felt very fragile in my hand. My overall feeling about this sword, as it was with the Ancient Iron Warrior, is that these swords are largely for show and dojo demos and practice. These are not stout blade by any means ... but they are undoubtedly beautiful.

Very beautiful sword...I wonder if they are strictly for Tatami matts cutting instead of Hard targets, being fragile worries me a little..but im assuming they have an intended purpose...lovely sword...thanks for sharing

Skyjiro has a very interesting reputation. They fittings are unique ... they're made of what they call "white bronze". I didn't know there was such a thing ... but there it is. Their blades are just beautiful ... and $6-$700ish they blow away what anybody else is doing at the price range ... save for maybe Sword of Northshire and Huawei. But ... then you add in their fit and finish ... very hard to beat. The durability, however, has been brought up as a point of contention. On the other hand ... I say ... what exactly is a katana really designed to cut through? Soft tissue ... or pool noodles, plastic bottle, and banboo? With this mind I would suggest even this model which is by far not their most expensive model is very close to the real thing had to be like.

Would you recommend this sword for? $627.00 am looking for a sword to display / play around with. Maybe do some cutting with it like what you where doing in your video. So the blade will get damage if you do a bad cut ? wont that happen to any blade to side degree ? Do you have a recommendation for a different sword ? for cutting Thank you great video

Skyjiro is an excellent mid-level affordable brand overall for a serious practitioner. It definitely has a wonderful look with beautiful aesthetics. As nice as these katanas are ... I would not recommend them as being a heavy lifter for backyard cutting. However ... if as you said "display/play around with" is what you want ... I'm gonna assume the "play around with" translates into light use at home. If that's all you are going to do with it FUNCTIONALLY and the rest of time use it as a show piece ... I would say you can't go wrong with this model.

Does this sword come with the black SAME (ray skin) or was that customized?

In this you are correct, skyjiro does the best market katanas around. Too bad they're nearly impossible to get.

I did order directly through Skyjiro ... though no through their website. I contacted them directly by phone. Overall the experience was a little frustrating, slow, and some times contradictory as far as delivery dates and so on. However ... I do have say that the two swords I got them were really a cut above as far as how they look and handle. They really are in class by themselves. It was worth it.

@@mr.excalibur1455 thanks. I just received my Skyjiro Domoe from KOA today. Looks and feels amazing. Only thing that’s a little off, the menuki are reversed. No big deal I guess.

@@317consulting5 Be prepared for a bit of a wait and also even if you check in to see how the project is going be prepared for a not immediate response. But ... I think you will like the result. What colors and dimensions did you ask for? The blades on these beauties are just GORGEOUS! The draw out of the saya ... perfect for iaido.

I did order directly from their website ... actually called the guy up from Skyjiro. That being said ... Getting a hold of them can be tricky ... and if you have made any customization to the one your ordered wait times can be long. However ... while the wait time that was projected for my project was exceeded by quite a bit ... I'm hard pressed to say it wasn't worth it.

Thank you for the answer, so you wouldnt be concerned about receiving the blade in the end? I'm really thinking about to withdraw my payment via paypal. But in the end i would really like the sword not the money back :/

@@Thomas-ll4dm Did you ever receive your katana? I ordered the Emperor Katana directly from the website with no customizations, that said to be instock a week ago and the order status is still processing. I emailed them, then I received a phone call from them. They said that covid19 is the issue.

i have the ancient warrior, i love it, just hate the fake hamon, it is a folded steel and the fake hamon makes it look bad and yes "there can be only one"

@@silverbulletfury2660 Better than Dragon King, for the meantime that's damn near perfect, 30" and 12". Balance is in all how you hold the tsuka. No need to grip the ska tighter by wringing it, also keep the index finger from moving the sword. We align without squeezing your entire hand. The hand can be used to do all of those fancy twirling around and waving all much better in aligning. Just like he says.

they make nice swords but their customer service is some of the worst ive seen. Its a shame too, if they up their blade quality and got a decent supply going I feel like they could give hanwei a run for their money, in the katana space atleast.

I completely agree. I think their product FAR exceed Hanwei just in overall presentation. They are also clouded by the fact that their customer service is rather cumbersome. This particular sword took almost 6 months to get to me from the initial order to delivery ... which was far past their stated estimates. To be fair though ... this was all during 2020 ... which can forgive a great many sins especially when dealing with a conpany IN CHINA. Skyjiro has a great look and feel to their swords. Was it worth the wait? Ummm ... 4 months in I would have debated that. However, once I got this one ... I would still say I had reservations.
