This is the first time for me using Skype for business and the way you explain it in your guide is great but what l need is the very start by downloading Skype for business on my laptop up to your step by step guide,
0:16 How to use the Contact List 2:22 Using Presence and Instant Messaging 3:38 Impromptu Meeting 4:37 How to schedule a Skype Meeting 7:18 Video in your Meeting 7:44 Better Desktop Sharing 9:00 Office Integration 11:15 Recording your Meeting 11:30 Managing Meeting Participant 13:25 Tools for Collaboration
Thank you very much. The fact that you needed to do this is a lesson in why you should only get people with a background in communication/corporate education to do training videos. Nobody wants a story, they want clear and concise information in the shortest period of time.
Will we be able to search for the old Skype IDs (not Microsoft accounts) directly from Skype for Business? It wasn't easily possible on Lync, and it is one of our users most requested features.
How do you find the chat logs of past conversations? Specifically in windows explorer. I know there used to be a main.db file but i'm not able to find that currently. Please help
Can I download Skype for Business standalone version if I live in the country of Georgia? Should I necessarily download Office 365? Please help me out?
Do I have to uninstall Skype so Skype for Business will run? Currently Lync and how Skype for Business stop during the start process in some PCs in my organization.
How much interaction is there between clients using Skype for Business and normal Skype non-business (free version) users? In other words, how much functionality is there between the two platforms?
Hope you are including also Linux version of Skype for Business. Else what is purpose of this IM, if it's not even avaliable on all platforms with all features? huh?
Can anybody tell me how to create a common platform for everyone to be able to communicate? I'm unable to see "create a chatroom" option on my Skype for business.
Sharing is still way to slow especially when u have a conversation. Its much faster through dedicated apps. Also logging into Skype because it has to log in the Exchange server is slower than on normal Skype. Message sending in case person is offline was a pain on the Lync, it always showed that message can be delivered. This work ok on the normal Skype. Also browsing history messages on the Lync2013 was just horrible experience... go to full Skype experience and dont create these hybrids instead.
Michael Zenzer Just open an Office client (Word, Excel, PPT etc) and click on the File tab >Office Account > Update Options> Update Now. Once you finish update, Lync will become Skype for Business. I really wish MSFT make the instructions more clear in the email announcement.
My favorite pet would be one that is very smart or still has the keen ancestral instincts to hunt. A dog like that would be great, even a cat and i hate cats but if that cat was super efficient in hunting mice and rats then it would be OK. A pig is smart and would be great it it was good at hunting truffles otherwise the pig is only good for a garbage disposal. I just downloaded Skype today. Thanks for the Tutorial.
why is O365 promoting this when the software is not even available to download? I cant alert my users of the change without giving them some direction as to how to actually get Skype for Business
Mike fernandes Uhh not quite true. I did a brand new installation of Office 365 this morning and I still have Lync. It's probably the rolling updates - meaning it's not available quite yet. Someone prematurely sent out the email, is my guess
Skype for business is for businesses. Regular skype you can use a skype or microsoft account. The organization address you would need for skype for business is the login for your work or school email.
Using Skype for Business Online I'm unable to make/receive (Skype audio) calls from my mobile, when the call is answered it just shows 'connecting call...' for about 10 seconds and then call ends.
Unbelievable. So all this stuff that we've been able to do for years, can now also be done, but in a slightly stripped down way, but for $2/user/month? Wow! That's AMAYYYYYZZZZIINGGGG. FFS Microsoft.
Can you have a meeting with people outside of Skype or Lync? We already have O365 but we use GoToMeeting for meetings with clients. Will Skype for Business be able to replace GoToMeeting?
Monty Turner Yeah, absolutely. If you send a meeting invite to someone who hasn't got Skype or Lync they will automatically use the Skype for Business Web Client to join the meeting. Right now they will need a plugin (prompted when joining the meeting) to their browsers but that will also go away in the future.
I do not have a business or business account but I got invited to a Skype meeting for a job interview, does that mean I have to download and pay for a subscription to use that feature?
No, you will not have to pay. Just click on the meeting invite and you will be prompted to install a small add-in. Depending on how the company has set up Skype fro Business, they might also provide a phone number that you can just call.
Please help me, I got invited to a job interview meeting with 4 interviewers using skype for business, I don't have skype for business account yet and have a problem to buy it for now, can I still attend this interview with out skype for business account ?
Hi Eliana, yes you will be able to participate into the meeting -- you will be able to download an add-in to join the meeting. Does your invite include a link to join the meeting? If so, you can try it today and already install the add-in, so you don't have t do it on the day of the interview. Also get sure to have a decent head-set handy to get sure the people in the meeting can understand you.
I was wondering if you could help me. I invited a Skype contact to a meeting but in the actual meeting it says I can't invite this contact. Any ideas why this is turning out to be so difficult? Any help from anyone would be appreciated. Thank you.
Where do I find Organization sign in address??? I cannot find it anywhere!! Its not my email, its not a phone number and its not from account.microsoft.com.. Where is it????
Still no offline IM capabilities - one of the best features of Skype, especially when you deal with colleagues globally. All it is is a UI makeover to Lync. #fail

A 15 minute video? Didn't they think it might be a good idea to include a link to a text summary in the announcement email for those who don't want to completely waste their time?
Hi, I have a few questions, 1. how many users can join in a video meeting? 2. do the other users have to have skype for business to do the video meeting? 3. do the others have to have skype for business if I want to share my screen or share my office apps? thanks.
Who wants to discuss there Business (how they eat and pay there bills )online?with who ever?I disscuss my business with u i want to know where you live.people still ideas, and food and ur bill money
This is now wrong/irrelevant as Microsoft has (or is) moving everyone over to Teams. Some of it is still there, but the contacts section in particular, has moved and is no longer available.
