@@uhtred7860 I tend to find the helmets look to big for the most part. Leather and steel are the worst. It looks like my head doubled in size when I wear them!
Yeah. And i dont understand why theres so much exposed skin on the armor sets when the game is in a frozen tundra lol. At least wear chainmail under it or something
2:15 shield in design actually goes back to actual medieval times shields; usually an attacker would get their sword stuck on a wood shield, so people started putting some leather or etc. on the shield to actually welcome the blade into getting stuck in the shield. Of course, a mechanic like this isnt utilized in Skyrim, though.
Would make sense since skyrims technology looks like it's trying to bridge the gap between the end of the Roman Empire and the start of the medieval period
@@NinjaBray, more like take the elements of medieval into antique. Like considering lack of people (army of only 500 men with Ysgramor were able to take down an EMPIRE of elves) it makes sense means of personal defense recieved a great development, yet battles are, I dare to say, fought only by infantry, no cavalry, and fortifications are quite modest, which doesn't sound like medieval...
@@Кожуркаотпомидора It's really hard to realistically gauge Elder Scrolls when a Cyber guy from the future sent to the past who might of been the reincarnation of a dead god would create rivers of blood from elves, creating a time paradox
why is that feeling so strong?? I mean, you're just slightly upgrading your armor how is it that nice?? (I agree with you, I just don't understand why it's such an awesome feeling)
Steel plate, heavy dawnguard, banded iron, blades, and wolf armor all simple but badass and unique still. They fall under another category imo. They are simplistic yet still so satisfying to look at.
@@GTAVictor9128 I had one in yhe basement of my lakeview manor house start doing weird things, first it started swapping armour on its own, the it would be off its pedestal when i went in, finally it was walking around. Didnt stop the Skeevers infesting the basement tho. :-)
@@uhtred7860 It’s because mannequins are actually a RACE in the games files. They just have a special script that turns them into frozen models when you enter that cell. Sometimes though it doesn’t load correctly and they end up in wrong positions or off their pedestals because the script didn’t fix them.
I have tried so many of the different unique armors in the game, but I always go back to ancient falmer. It’s just something about the set screams “elite knight” or “royal guard”. That, and what it represents: one of the last few reminders of the Snow Elves and their story. How they were once a highly advanced civilization who worshiped Auri-El. How the Nords nearly brought them to extinction. And how they made a devils bargain with the Dwarves in order to survive, and became the blind, bug-loving freaks we all know.
I always loved the nightingale armor. I just get that feeling of being batman when I go to a ledge and crouch down and look at the citizens going about their day. 😂😂😂😂
Letting Erandur wear Shrouded Armour but with Clavicus Vile's mask has been the funniest sight in Skyrim for me so far - he looks like your friendly neighbourhood SM dungeon master, which is even more funny considering he is a priest of Mara and calls me his son
Ebony is the best looking honestly, but a personal favorite of mine in early gameplay is the iron branded armor. It looks like it belongs in the game and feels like it would protect me in an actual fight. I love how they added the shoulder pauldrons to the base set with a bit more fur and less amounts of exposed skin. Definitely a great looking set.
Fun fact, deadric armor not only looks badass to us, but to the npcs too because having a full set (background numbers) increases the chance of an intimidate check working by 10%
I fell in love with the Nordic armor recently when i started new playthrough. Ive never known before that this shit looks so amazing. I probably wont change it till the end.
The shirtless fur armor is perfect, a little bit of animal fur wrapped aroumd the waist and the rest is PURE TESTOSTERONE MANLY MEAT. Unarmed build and fur armor is great time
Most youtubers: " leave a comment down below if you disagree with my ranking" The southern elder scrolls chad: " if you disagree with my rankings, its ganna be okay buddy you will live"
My personal favorites based on design are hands down the fur armor and the Skaal armor because I like how it feels immersive. You really feel like you’re walking across a frozen wasteland.
I personally love the dragonscale armor. It looks like it can protect you. Its looks breathable and moveable. And most importantly. It's helmet makes you look like a freaking dragon.
My favorite armors are Daedric, Nordic Carved, and Nightingale, with honorable mentions to Dragonscale and Glass. Daedric just exudes powerful energy, like exactly the intimidation factor that the most powerful person in Skyrim should have. Nordic Carved is sharp and exciting but still traditional looking, and since I tend to play Nords, it always feels appropriate. I adore the look of Nightingale even though it doesn’t fit my usual play style at all in stats/effects.
I love ebony, nightingale and carved Nordic. I always find myself mixing pieces though and using a few piece of clothes now and again and enchanting them, robes, hats, gloves, boots. I have a Redguard character who wears the mourners cap (like a black bandanna), archmage’s robes, and then wolf gauntlets and greaves. They’re all enchanted, and then I give him the spear mod, and the reikling spears so he has a shit ton of spears on his back and uses destruction magic too. He looks super dope.
I just searched RU-vid for a armour collection guide (I’m collecting all of them in game) and this is the funniest shit I’ve watched in a long time and exactly what I wanted 😂
The female variants of the Forsworn set, Falmer set, Ancient Nord set and Stormcloak General set are also known as the "Men of Culture sets". Say what you want about the male varaints, but on females they just look sexy.
As a female I like ancient nord armor on female my female characters. It is sexy yet it looks epic. Helmet is great and the main piece is actually somewhat unique, tho I would make it light armor instead of heavy. Also forsworn armor for female sucks. Headpiece could be a hair style or something more grotesque and the main piece looks over all terrible. Maybe longer loincloth and and more closed chest piece reaching down to her waist, still open sides... it would make the look more appealing. Stormcloak general for male is good, for female? It looks weird man, the skirt is way too short that legs look off putting. Bear helm could be bigger and lower so that it would look more menacing, deep cleavage and again FUCING LONGER SKIRT with sides open... God I wish I had more free time that I could learn 3D modeling and remodel these stupid designs... I don’t even want to talk about falmer armor tho it is not meant for surface folks, so it is not that jarring.
I really like the dawnguard amour cause (other than the sleeves) it feels like something someone might actually wear. its def not realistic but it feels believable
This is a perfect coincidence because I'm playing Skyrim for the first time after so many years of waiting and I am just about to start smithing items in my playthrough. This will help me in the direction I want to go with armour sets (of course I will consider stats).
It's possible to hit the armor cap in hide armor(lowest armor rating in the game) without a shield or helmet(592+ displayed armor rating). You don't even need to use glitches like with restoration potions, necromage vampirism or stacking headgear. Just max Alchemy, Enchanting, and Smithing. Use Alchemy and Enchanting to boost each other a bit(a few artifacts and powers help with this) and use both to boost Smithing. You also need 5/5 Agile Defender in Light Armor. You can hit the cap in a full set of Ebony Armor(sans shield) without tempering it at all(need Ancient Knowledge, Seeker of Might and all relevant perks in the Heavy Armor skill tree). The Deathbrand armor set well smithed can hit the cap(or close to it) with base 15 skill and no Light Armor perks. It's good for raising that skill(get beat on by giants and/or mammoths, just make sure you are wearing jewelry that reduces Restoration spell cost a lot like 35% on neck and finger). By default, Ancient Knowledge boost all armors except Dwarven by 25% and boosts tempering by 15%. From Solstheim, you need the Relics of Ahzidal and black book Sallow Regent.
I think he didn't count it becuz it lacks a helmet and shield It's okay to lack 1 piece but vampire lacks 2 Then again he probably just forgot, It's just what I'd give as an excuse
As someone who takes an interest in the functionality of armour, the best out of all of the lowest level light armours is the full fur one. It’s also the most lore friendly. Its hat is very weird though. The best three in the game to me are probably steel plate, dwarven and Orcish/ Ebony. I can’t stand it when there are random bits of flesh unnecessarily sticking out.
I agree with ebony being number one. When I first discovered what ebony armor looked like in game, I dicided right then and there to put all my points in Heavy Armor perks. The female set totally looks like a medieval Batwoman armor. The next best thing would be the Ebony Battle Axe. Adventuring around Skyrim as a walking black Guillotine.
I think the one thing that would make the Steel Armour better is if you wore the Horned helmet, it makes it look SO MUCH COOLER and not like any basic warrior.
I don't think you really realize how terrifying a man god in full black armor charging at you with two dragons and a dictionary's worth of holy swear words is
Whenever I would stroll around an in-walled city, I would have my character remove her helmet and gauntlets/bracers as a way of saying "I mean no harm"
I’ve always LOVED ebony armour and liked collecting it in game and slapping it on every mannequin I can in my house because of how good it looks, but after learning it’s also the crystallized blood of a god i started hoarding ebony even more
So, in reality every armor in the game can reach the armor cap with smithing, alchemy, and enchanting so the usefulness of armor is often times not even a factor because if it can be improved it can likely be done so enough to bring it over 567.
Ebony is even cooler because of the fact that it's not just a metal like all the others. In the lore, ebony metal is supposed to be a God's blood and specifically Lorkhan's blood. That's why ebony is found mostly in morrowind, because the red mountain is there and that's where Akatosh dropped Lorkhan's heart when he killed him
The Ancient Nord armor's chest plate is the only good part of it; in fact, I have an armor mod that supes up all the Guard armors with different pieces relative to their holds, and Falkreath happens to have gotten that one. Let me tell you, that combo is absolutely dope. and let's face it, Scaled armor is just the way hotter sister of the Hide armor
You chose the right Parameters, here by ONLY looking at the Designs and "Impression" ; Chapeau! *i am personally that "crazy", that i sometimes prefer Null Armour-Rating above Safety. Only because of what "Type-of-Guy" i am actual playing in a gameplay. (I give a Siht on Armour-Rating, hahaha!)
My current set is Superior steel plate armor, gauntlets, and boots with an Orcish heavy helmet to keep in touch with my characters race. The helmet does make me look like a Nordic Patrick star though
The only thing about the Thieves Guild armor I would change is I would try and get a set with that cool looking "dagger on the left shoulder sheath" that only Karliah gets to sport. It looks good...and that's where I had my Ka-Bar in VN.
good to see my favorite two armors high on the list. Ebony is my favorite and bonemould and steel plate tied for a close second as I really appreciate the simplicity of their designs but while still looking good. I personally do not really like the Deadric because like the Elven armor it just seems like their overdoing its motif way too much. same goes for the Nordic carved armor. Oblivion pulled of the design for deadric a lot better with the red accent in the design looking like you came straight out of an oblivion gate but it does not overdo that spike motif nearly as much as skyrim and is balanced a lot more with the detail in the insignia.
