I understand not wanting your characters to look fake, or for the women to be half naked, I dont like that either. But the beauty of Skyrim modding is to be able to play how YOU want. Not how random people on the internet want you to play. If you dont want your characters to look like this, then don't download the mods. If you do want your characters to look like this, then download the mods. Let people play how they want.
Never understood why people get all ass hurt by the way other people play their game. I personally don't like any of them because I want a more real skyrim but it was nice to see my options!
i total agree with you. but on the other hand, that has a downside: if you want non sexy or skimpy stuff, you get the short side of the stick in terms of your option with mods. at least it feels like it. you have way more options on the skimpy side ,then lore friendly "world fitting" mods.
True, for me I always beleived that vampires posses beauty so a beatification for Serana feels right, or how hadvar, ralof and ondmund are young but look old so with another mod they look fantastic exactly how I imagined them to be
some of the mods replace the vanilla models in general to make them all better, like WICO (+ some bug fix) and then on top of that can put the fancier but specific character replacement mods. wico actually remodels ALL faces unlike almost all similar mods.
I know what you mean. I was searching for a simple long hair mod, since my hair in reallife is also longer than my goddamn spine. Now apparently, in a world like Nirn, where elves, demons, ghosts and dragons and shit are bothering you on a daily basis, a guy like me would be the rarest of all life forms. Because I am a guy with long hair. Seriously, I can't even tell what's wrong with this world anymore.
Would be appreciated if you had names of mods that’d do that. And also does the steam version of the game allow for mods too ? Or is it best to try and get the PC disc?
Try out Windsong's immersive character overhaul. Improves face and body textures without all the heavy glam-up of other mods. characters who should look rough still look rough. and it actually makes the elven races decent to look at
never made any sense that NPCs are dirty the nords are based on the norse which were known to groom themselves fairly well by that periods standards at least
Have you ever walked in the woods? You get dirty super easily. Now imagine 90% of your world is woods and wilderness. Having some smudges of dirt on you is inevitable even if you're trying to be clean. Besides, they're only superficially based on the norse. Things like how they groom themselves and such probably aren't too heavily focused on..
@@sadakuno your points are true but even so people like being clean even in the dark ages or medieval period it's something Hollywood gets wrong about 90% of the time
@@colmduggan8230 I agree for the most part. Medieval people aren't these stinking unwashed mud people that most media portrays them as, but it's impossible to avoid having some dirt on your face/clothes when doing most medieval jobs. Even today, anyone working outside will come back dirty.
@@sadakuno yes they would get dirty farming being an example of how most people survived back then but skin can be cleaned and clothes can be changed just like now the Norse also had wash basins that they used each morning to wash their face and hands
Yeah, the norse really cared for personal hygiene, they cleaned themselves regularly (an achievement at the time) and even cleaned out their ears thoroughly which was unheard (lol) of at the time.
I like very much Shiva's mods, her NPCs, hair and clothing replacers are brilliant. I overwrite hers with Bijin and together those mods fix every NPC in the game. For children, I have 'The kids are alright' which makes children look great and each one unique. I highly recommend using Mod Organizer 2 to avoid the 'brown face bug'.
I've been wondering for a while now about mass npc remodeling mods but had no idea what to look for on nexus. Thanks for the video, these modles look amazing. p.s. what mod gives you that font replacer for the ui?
The female and children mods make the characters all look like supermodels and even the modded men look like potatoes. Also, not a big fan of hair styles suddenly being changed to long flowey blown out looking locks. Don't get me wrong, apply those to lords and lady's, kings and queens, but I don't want to walk into a bar and see the overworked bar made looking prettier and more well groomed than real life supermodels.
I know it is late, but I tangled around Internet for a while, even went as far as NSFW sites and menaged to dig something out but could not make it work because I am very bad in this department. Just look around the net. Say, Ethereal Elven Overhaul or SG Female Texture renewal or even Better males are somewhat nice if you are looking for a very vanilla-like character. And as for the first mods I mentioned above, I do not recal names, it was a while ago!
The one I hate most from Bijin is Brelyna. Look, I can take doll looking Serana (she's a vampire and other vampire lore, like Anne Rice, says vampires have doll-like beauty, so it's an acceptable change for me) but Brelyna turning into a human is a huge F-up. She's a freaking dark elf with gray skin and suddenly this mid changes her into a Eurasian.
RS children are so anime. Just does not fit. Also, if i want some anime lookin kids, they better be elves. As much as i want to add ordinary women, they just look too porcelain to me. And most of them look the same. Reminds me of botox of skyrim. By far the best is the bijin family (hair needs to resemble more vanilla), pre 1.8 seranaholic (1.8 just looks like a doll, could be the hair) and men of winter (only select few)
Men of Winter is fantastic because it has a modular download. I can pick and choose which NPCs I want to be changed. I wish all character overhauls had this option.
Good list. I would add Ultimate NPC Overhaul II as a strong base that covers everything (Dragonborn expansion is still on Nexus, while Dawnguard can still be found if you know where to look). Also, The Kids Are Alright is just as good as RS Children imo. BTRH Waifu has some great options as well - I don't use all the faces from BTRH, but some are really unique looking (eg. Ingjard, Elisif, Sorine, Frea). BTRH has the best, most appropriate looking, Elisif I've seen anywhere tbh - pretty, but not TOO pretty. I feel like Aberin's replacer falls into the 'too pretty' category, at least for Elisif - can't blame people for using it though.
Sure thing, that's exactly what I do too - place it on top as a base and let Improved Bards, Bijin's, etc... overwrite it. I like it a lot more than Inhabitants of Skyrim as a base.
This brings so many memories back to me. I would spend hours making faces in skyrim and because of that I am now going through Boletaria in the new Demons' soul remake not looking like a troll. I love this community and I will always have much love to everyone in skyrim. Thank you everybody for being here
Sometimes I use Inhabitants of Skyrim with vanilla hair as my base then override it with others. I dislike alot of the changes men of winter does, especially with facial hair. Bjinn is too fond of Apachii hair which I mostly dislike. I use ordinary women with the Fading Pride modifications, and Mizzog's followers hirelings and housecarls. There are a couple of nice standalone mods for a few specific characters like Netherwalk's edits for Vilkas and Farkas. Serana Renewal is a nice alternative to Seranaholic though that is very nice too.
Much prefer the TKAA Childrens mod series over the oddly shaped heads in RS Children. TBH to my eye the RS heads are still nearly as odd as vanilla. One is eggs, the other potatos. Agree greatly on the Ordinary Women.. very good treatment for the older ladies. Bijin is pretty, but not a fan of all the big hair and clipping problems that go with it.
I'm sorry but the hair look absolutely ridiculous. Prettier but it looks like everyone spends too much time with their non-existent hairstylist from modern day Earth. Completely lore-breaking for me.
Lost You didn't watch the video if you had you would of known there are different versions of the mod. I maybe an idiot, but at least I am not a cretin such as you.
General Tulius really just needs to look like the carbon copy of some random Julius Caesar statue or painting, no need for all that stuff.. Also, the female mods aren't very faithful to the vanilla
On one hand, I despise the Thalmor in any way, shape, or form. But on the other hand, Elenwyn be looking like a snack. (Also, Iodolf be looking like Chris Hemsworth)
Hi everyone.. I'm new Skyrim..but I love it to death now...lol. I no I'm late on this...but does this work on PS4 also or are/is there a site to refer to...thank you in advance...
Great list, but I would have picked Males of Skyrim over Men of Winter as it actually makes many male characters attractive, like the female mods in your list. As for the largest female overhaul, I believe Dames of Skyrim tops them all by overhauling every single female NPC in the game :)
I like Serana, but every time I think of her like that I remember that she was raped by basically giant Satan. And my Dragonborn likes delving into huge caves as much as the next guy but that’s one I think I’ll pass on.
I actually like the characters in Skyrim as they are.... The mods makes Skyrim feel like a game from Japan... Though I'll download the children mod for variety...they looks ridiculous in the game lol
I think ordinary women is a nice mod for immersion, and it doesn't mess with the bodies like the bijin series does. They all have proper scandinavian potato noses, no tiny anime noses!
@@warriorcatsofmysteryclan2240 Anime has its moments but I don't think it fits Skyrim at all. I want the women to look as human as possible. For immersive purposes. It's not really about Japanese or American, it's about realistic or cartoony. And Bethesda is clearly going for realism. They're just not very good at it.
I wish the more aged characters were left and given more aged looks. The vast majority of characters look much more realistic, then I go alchemy shopping in Whiterun to see a 16yo telling me she lived and worked in that city for 20 years. And why would someone possibly want THE TALMOR of all people to look good?
Thanks for this. I am binge downloading mods, since i finally got the chance to buy the actual skyrim game and not settle on crack versions. Now I can beautify skyrim for my return.
CANT THEY FUCKING ALLOW EXTERNAL ASSETS ALREADY LIKE... WHAT WILL U FUCKING LOSE T^T YOUR A LARGE COMPANY WITH MILLIONS OF DOLLARS Sony/Bethesda kill me T_T
Idk if u still respond to comments but may I ask what mod or what functionality are you using that allows you to have the background blurred like that when focusing on an npc. Ive been trying to figure it out for the longest and its actually frustrating that I cant seem to find what does it 🥴
First of all, you're on SE. I'm on LE. LE is vastly superior to SE in everything related to modding, including ENB capabilities. Have no idea why your ENB preset doesn't have DOF working tho.
Apart from the stupid spiders, what ruined Skyrim was the widespread killing of women. So many female bandits and hostile mages you were forced to kill. And although a mere computer game it just didn't feel right killing women
