I have this scope. It’s an excellent grab and go, the tube is extremely light. The optics are good and the image remains sharp at higher powers, this little achromat performs very well on the Moon. I have owned around 8 scopes over the years, now just down to 2...my C8 is the main scope....and the Evo90 is my portable friend for quick obs, now mounted on an AZ4. Whilst the EQ2 is a little weak, what it WILL do is teach the beginner how to use an EQ mount. If you’re reading this as a beginner and like the moon and planets, this telescope is well recommended.

hi, can you add smartphone adaptor to this and get photos?

I bought this scope used on eBay with an EQ2 mount and I must say it's excellent. Once I added a dielectric diagonal and a right angle finder, plus some quality plossls, it really sings and whistles. Even at its practical limit of 180x using a 10mm plossl and 2x Barlow, the views of the Moon and planets remain sharp, with very little blue fringing (as seeing allows). I also used a 20mm widescan III eyepiece to get 45x mag and a huge AFOV. The double cluster in Perseus, NGC 752 in Andromeda and NGC 457 in Cassiopeia all look stunning with this combo😀. The scope itself is light and easily mounted on an AZ4 for quick grab and go.

An excellent price for that 90/900 mm refractor with EQ2 mount. A 6 and 9 mm 68 degree eyepiece would be perfect for this model.

I enjoyed your older Celestron Atromaster 90 review! In my country, these 2 items are similarly priced, with the Skywatcher being the cheaper of the two. How would the two compare and which one would you say may be a better option? Thanks

I would say the SW has a more suitable diagonal for astronomy. Eyepieces are similar spec

Did you use filters to view Jupiter?
@44messier
@44messier Год назад
No. Though a 12 yellow filter helps darken the cloud belts to make them stand out more. Saying that, ask 10 people which filter to use on Jupiter you may get 10 different answers

I am planning to buy this telescope .problem is i live in an apartment 6th floor ,i want to set this up on my balcony and i can also use windows to see some planets. is it ok to use like this ?
@44messier
@44messier 9 месяцев назад
You will be able to use it. But heat rising from the floors below will add turbulence , and if you are looking through an unopened glass window it will ruin quality. If possible get a scope small enough to go in a car and get out in the open

i live in Sweden ,no heat here😀during winter skies are bit clear's want to use it from my balcony ,during summer yes i will take it out .small scope will not give the clarity on planets .

Always remember there is more in the sky other than the planets. The other 99.9% that holds countless stars and clusters that are much more rewarding
