I have an 81 Pro sl ST and I love the pickups. I am of the blocked floyd rose crowd and it sounds great.

I have a SL-ST-3 as well. It is in pieces now as I refinish it and replace the electronics. The pickups were not working so I did a teardown on them, they use a bar magnet in the middle of the pickup rather than the standard strat magnet pole pieces which was interesting, an early 'rail' pickup if you will They were not potted and very microphonic. The body is plywood, however it always sounded good to me. The neck really shines on mine, the fretwork was amazing even when new, and the neck has always been comfortable. It is next to impossible to find information on this model out there. Thanks for posting.

Ted Schoenling sorry for the short answer. this restoration you made seems very interesting. when I got this guitar it had a block of wood instead of a saddle on the bridge. often these used guitars are poorly maintained, and when we buy them we have to consider that we will have to fix them. as for the pickups, I remember they sounded too different: the bridge pickup sounded too loud compared to the others. it wasn't an easy guitar to handle 😀

killing the worth of the guitar refinishing it...I was gonna do the same with my faded white one and the guy in the shop nearly had a fit when I said I was gonna sand off the original yellowed clearcoat back to the white paint...it takes years of wear to get them looking old and theres no way to fake a proper relic is what I was told...

My first guitar was an Aria Pro 2 SL ST 3 it looked just like yours except mine was red with stripes like EVH Franken Strat guitar, I wish I never got rid of it, I did carve my name on the backside of the cover plate to the knobs so everyone check yours to see if you have my old one, I carved my name and the date if I remember correctly.

they are all simulations present in Pod Farm. I think the chorus was Stero Chorus (it must be the imitation of some really existing chorus, as for all simulations in pod farm)

Nice sound- is this a good guitar brand? I found Aria pro II but model “diamond series” similar to yours except for the floyd rose like trem.

Yep, at around this time they were still quite good. I have a Road Warrior from around 1986 and it's frickin awesome. Check out also some Samick KR models from the early to mid 90s.

Thank you! yes, for what it costs I think it's worth it. but if it has fret problems it might cost you to fix it (it depends on the problem and on your tech)

I honestly don't know. I've never been well informed about it, and I've sold it for a few years now. it was just a guitar that I bought used for little money (60 €). however you could try asking someone who sells one the year of construction, even if you don't really want to buy it.
