Dave Hill what a total, humble legend you are. Slade were pioneers and were way ahead of their time. Grew up with them as a kid in the seventies, thank you so much for the memories, you truly rock to this day and beyond.
If you have teenagers , show them this clip. There is loads to be learned from it .... politeness, friendliness, patience and down right decency. Then play a few Slade tracks at volume and I can guarantee that they will be fans. I tried it with my son when he was 14 and he is mad for them. Why ? Very simple ... a great band with great songs, great showmanship and entertainers and most of all, serious decent individuals.
dave hill is old school enough (like lemmy was ) to know he was beholden to the fans and should always sign and have photos taken he has no ego when it comes to being grateful for what he has and how gave it to him
Ha ha is that not Jennet charles the 'former queen impersonator'' or is she dead'''whatever, anyway its lovely to see my subjects ''riff raff'''''what you mean I am royalty'' 'I am Dave hill'the absolutely famous Dave hill from Slade. He is a real man a '''star'' 'no ponced up star ''like some who joined the establishment, and everything is false about them''hey that woman could be Elton's mum' looking for him and his boyfriend '. Slade were real guys 'one of us'' and everyone of Slade had there own individual style grace and talent'' thanks lads we have great memories ''
My band supported Slade at a concert in 1979 in the North East of England . We shared their dressing room. They were absolutely normal, nice blokes. Really. We were young and relatively inexperienced musicians. And they were polite and respectful. Later on that year after their manager, Chas Chandler heard a demo tape of us, we were told by him, that Slade had spoke highly of us to him. We were humbled.
Reading his book slowly, savouring it. What a life my favourite Slade member had. Got his autograph 3 times but never met him, he sent them via friends.
Just read his book. This is no spoilt rock star, he’s had to keep out there working just to pay the bills. He and Don Powell only earned in the original Slade while they were gigging and selling records, only the two writers made any real money. He’s kept on through illness and injury and is still patient and nice with fans after 40 odd years of being famous.
the Super Yob being a gentleman as usual. same with Noddy, always polite and really listens to you. Slade really shook the whole world and still does with their Christmas song every year. i hope they would get together again just like Abba for an album and maybe open up a museum with their costumes and instruments etc. we want to see the top hat glimmering in the light again. maybe someone should make a movie about the band. i know they don't need money, but just think of how big this would be. would make the whole world go crazee!!!
Dave's girl friend lived next door to my mate in the 70.s saw him there many times with his number plate yob 1 if I can remember he brought her a hairdressers in bentley walsall West Midlands nice chap
CaPa Dave Hill a real showman back in the day ,Glitter, high platform boots and even his guitar 🎸 looked amazing so different and BTW still love their amazing records.
My rock hero but the sad thing is he doesn't come out after gigs to sign so I don't have a photo with that I could frame and hang on my wall. Slade especially Dave n Don my hero's in rock.
