It's easy to overthink 'speed painting' but much as I still think it's a silly name, the ol' slapchop method has its merits when you want to smash out a reasonably solid-looking army in no time. Contrast and Speedpaint have their uses!

THE BASE:
A coat of Stirland Mud, drybrushed Golgfag Brown and Tyrant Skull. Apply static grass in patches with PVA, then a few tufts to taste. Paint the base rim in a dark brown, and done!
