Slash is one of the most humblest person I’ve ever come across.. he told me a few things when I had the chance to meet him in LA, his book was such a great story, “I’ll send my bodyguard to hunt you down, if you ever stop playing” he told me…
I am glad Slash is clean + sober ! Good for him ! His honesty is refeshing, and hopefully his truthfulness will help others ! While I have never had any addictions (except for roughly 24+ oz of coffee) , no SUD's, or no mental health issues (gaslighting) however, I do have empathy for those who struggle with either SUD's, or mental health issues, as long as they are not harming others in the process.
Glad he's not using alcohol and heroin anymore, part of that rock & roll wild spirit is messing up with drugs but you gotta know when it's time to quit. I just read his book and there is a ton of stories of that lifestyle, for many guitar players he's an icon. 👏🏻
Do you know Slash's story? He has a pacemaker at like 40 yrs old. The guy use to shoot coke and heroin and the same time like a mad man. He is also one of the best lead guitarists that has ever lived. Go figure.
How annoying is Piers Morgan's style of interviewing! His subjects are part way through explaining something and then he asks something else! I know the interviewer is supposed to steer the interview but......let him finish a story!
Of course he doesn't regret the rockstar lifestyle. Retrospectively, he had fun, and now he can never go back. He made it out alive with the memories of having tons of fun partying. End of!
Slash is my inspiration on guitar my whole life and now i play in a 80s tribute band and have tpured the wprld and played some amazing venues and festivals and even opened up for slash with velvet revolver and he came on stage to surprise me and played johnny b goode solo with me and this was all set up by my band mates and managers to surprise me and i was in such shock i forgot the forst half of the solo lol it was amazing
His father is white and his mother is black, he was born in British so he is British-American and mixed, you can read his autobiography!:) His rock song is so British!
He's so use to selling the image and giving the answers that people expect to hear from rock stars. He has had regret. Such as selling the hubterburst lp. Has no regrets meaning the choices he made resulted in the life he has today I think is what he means. He is extremely private.
Addiction is a hard enough enemy to overcome ur doesn't play fair. Addiction will include every one you love and all you hold dear in this struggle. Slash was the type of celebrity people paid to see this way not to mention. The people who make it all to easy to remain this way. Wow!!! What obstacles. To reach down inside yourself, alone when the current is dragging you the other way just for a non celebrity is a feat rarely heard of ,especially where I'm from. But to reach down and rise above when no one wants u to because train wrecks generate dollars is an accomplishment. and to not be permanently brain dead or jaded is even more special. Think of these things next time you judge an addict. " The only reason to look down on someone, is to give him a hand up!!"
Gray Gamer right you are! 1 of the main things that stopped/slowed me down was lowfunditis,if I had his money, who knows, but to have it all, like some of these guys, hats off to them that can and did, temptation is a mofo!
glad to see people are beginning to shift their opinions to be less critical of those dealing with addiction. taking drugs that are known to be addictive and bad for you in the first place may have been a mistake but that doesn't mean those who do it deserve a lifetime of punishment for it. It's natural for human beings to misbehave. it's what gives us personal experience and teaches us best what's right and what's wrong.
that invisible line he's talking about is called AGE. When you get into your 30's your body says enough of all this shit. You all of a sudden can't drink as much as you used to, party as hard as you used to.
Money talks my friend. As iconic as slash was/is, he was still #2 in that band at the time. He literally put up with it until he couldn't take one more fucking second and said piss off.
If you survive, no regrets. But most people don't, cuz after they start they can't stop which eventually kills thems. I have had a friend whose friend died of drugs just few months ago. Only few lucky people get to live after abusing drugs.
SLASH U are An Honorary Brutha!!! I just saw U in Downtown Oakland @ The Fox Theater & U & The Conspirators were AMAZING!! O, & I Really Love Ur Richard Pryor T-Shirt!! 1 Luv!
As we watch the greats of the 20th century slowly drift off into the sunset of eternal greats, don’t be sad….for we have not been left with nothing…(continue below) We now have been given talentless, self absorbed influencers, auto tune EVERYTHING, and bad BBL’s. 💀🤢🥴 I’m sticking around in hopes of it turning out like a game of Jenga; something’s always gotta give! I’m fucking proud to be an 80s baby, 90s kid, 00’ HS/university. Proud my brother fought in the Middle East and in the Bosnia/Kosovo incident. These young kids have been coddled way too hard. Gonna bite them in the end. K I’m done lol.
I think he means that drugs and women are a lot of fun (which I bet it is) but in the end it doesn't lead to anything at all...at some point you get tired of it and wanna do something with your life.
Yes. He's so shy that he has to hide his eyes with those sunglasses every time he is in public. He said: "I can't look at the people. I have to cover my eyes with my sunglasses and hair every time I preform, if I would look at the crowd for two seconds my knees would start shaking..."
its different for everyone. i justified my heroin use to layne staley being my idol and saying to myself that if he can do it so can i. obviously it didn't work that way. i kicked a year ago when i turned 25 but in all honesty if i have to continue feeling the tug daily to go back to the comfort of that drug i would rather be dead. props to anyone who can ride it out
No. But, here is a list of my favorite guitarist's in order 1)Darrel Dimebag 2)jimmy page 3)Kirk Hammet 4)Kurt Kobain 5)Dave Grohl 6)Steve Vai 7)Slash 8)Billy Joe Armstrong 9)Synester Gates 10)Jake Pitts
I said my favorite, not the best skilled guitarist. Kurt may not have been the greatest skilled guitarist on earth, but hes still one of my favorites c:
Jimmy Page, Clapton, the three kings, (I know Page started out teaching himself, I'm not sure if he had lessons after though) Hendrix, SRV, Dave Mustaine, Keith Richards, Ronnie wood, the list is endless ;)
Sex drugs and rock 'n' roll what else can you say the best drugs the best music the best women all the money can't beat it everybody wants to be a rockstar
Axl and Izzy were the main lyricists of Guns N' Roses. Duff contributed sometimes, Slash only contributed on Paradise City, and Steven (and later Matt) contributed no lyrics.
i mainly stick to weed and alcohol, but i'll admit i fuck with coke or xanax from time to time. its a fucking blast when you're around friends. just not something i do by myself.
