What an excellent proof of concept and idea. Now I bet if you wanted to make a good greenhouse panel you could take one of those wavy sheets and sandwhich it between two flat sheets. Wavy sheet in middle, flat sheets on top and bottom. Excellent work 👍
Really don’t know how hot guns work do you because if the sun ever gets hot enough to worry about it you would have die from it already polycarbonate is probably going to outlive us 😅
You can heat seal plastic shopping bags with a somewhat rounded tip in a soldering iron if you stack them with wax paper or baking parchment on top to keep the melting plastic from sticking to the metal tip. HDPE thicker than your typical WalMart bags are easier to weld a seam this way. It should be easy to experiment with scraps of PET plastic like the transparent bottle sides cut from a 2 liter soda bottle with the flat cylinder you can cut out and flatten. If you can't get it to adhere to itself with heat and pressure from a smooth blunt soldering tip, I do know that PL Premiun construction adhesive works well on PET, probably even better if you sand the areas of the sheets that will take the glue.
you cant make stuff cheaper than you can buy it these days. Only Maybe if you have all the tools already, free labour and time and unlimited free material. How many bottles (the same size)would you nees to find to complete a job. Plastic in bottles is not designed to withstand UV, frost. wind and rain. It is also too thin. Even the flimsiest manuf roof sheet is not as thin as bottle plastic. Wont last more than 2 years in UK weather
