This is our second day of exploration at Slaughter Pen in Bentonville and we still didn't see it all! There's always stuff being worked on and new stuff being added.
There's something incredibly cool about your mountain bike vacation starting within a short pedal of your accommodations. I haven't seen anything so cohesive in all of my travels.
🚲 I'm sponsored by IBIS and ride a RIPMO. I love it, build yours here: bkripmo.com

I want to share something I learned about jumping. It's the opposite of drops. You want to stand and lean into the handlebars, press into the face of the jump. I learned to drop first and was constantly leaning off the back of the bike during jumps, similar to what i was doing on my drops.

"Schroen Train" is actually the third iteration of the original trail. It was originally a descent down that Phase 2 East area, and Scott is an avid rider and lives up above it in a nearby subdivision. It has been completely revamped twice, and is undergoing a third, but it has retained his last name each time. WHY? He was originally the marketing and promotional manager for Phat Tire Bike Shop, but then transitioned into holding the same position, as the original marketing and promotional manager for OZ Trails!! He was instrumental in getting the Arkansas Enduro Series off the ground, as well as getting various big name Pros to come do the OZ Trails promotional videos. He was the face for OZ Trails marketing in the outset, alongside the Wizard of OZ, Gary Vernon. He went back to what he loves, which is woodworking, and he now owns TIMBERNAK, which is a custom wood shop, and he does AMAZING work!

Sara's jump game is on point, she's a ripper. It was a pleasure to meet you both in Bentonville when we were there, you made my kids whole trip. Its awesome to watch the two of you ride together really adds an extra element to the videos to see you having fun together. I hope to see way more duo videos in the future.

When you started talking about the inspiration thing it really made me remember last summer when I started watching your videos and I thought to myself “I wish there were trails like that by me” and I did a little research and found there are tons of trail systems by me I just didn’t know about. I started making RU-vid videos to help anyone by me find the trails too. You’re the man!
@rolux4853
@rolux4853 3 года назад
Man you’re lucky! You should really appreciate that! I downloaded every mtb App possible, but there are no real trails in my rideable distance (my radius on bike is about 50km, I’m really look into getting an Ebike to get a bigger circle) Problem is everything here is pretty flat. There are some singletrails but since it’s all flat you need to pedal constantly, which is also fun, but a descent longer than 15 seconds would be really nice to ride!
@trailcamcycling
@trailcamcycling 3 года назад
@@rolux4853 yeah that’s pretty much the same for me. The closes trail system is 30 mins away but it’s very technical and slow rolling. The good trails are over an hour away from home base.

Scott Schroen is a native Houstonian and moved up to Bentonville to run Phat Tire Bike Shop when it originally opened. In 2018 he became the Director of OZ Trails. He didn't build or design the Schroen Train but he lived at the top so he would ride down it to go to work. I actually took Scott to his first XC Race when he was 17 and his first DH Race when he was 18. In 2019 he left OZ Trails to open Timbernak Wood Working. He makes the Big Oversized Adirondack chairs you will see all over Bentonville and work benches and bars at shops all around town. Super good dude and of course the namesake of the Schroen Train.

I love watching you ride the trails that my 4 year old son and I ride almost every weekend! He currently rides a Stacyc (motorized) stability bike and I can barely keep up with that awesome dude! I just started my mountain bike journey at 33 years old because of my boys and I am very grateful we live about an hour away from some of the best trails in the county. I like to use the Masterpiece as a barometer of my jumping ability. I'm not clearing them just yet, but I keep inching my way towards clearing them each time I ride it. Keep up the great work!

I live in NW Arkansas. It's great watching you ride all the familiar trails and even some I haven't seen. That skinny you hit at the 2:49 mark on Scott Allen Alley and called ticklish, I rode it a few years back for the first time. It was wet and covered in moss. Those two rocks at the bottom came in contact with two of my ribs and broke them. The only broken bones I've ever had (I'm 55) It didn't tickle. 😂 (Just FYI....Most of the water bottle fountains are frost free....Therefore you have to hold down the button for an extended time in order for the water to make it up to the water spout)

Crazy that in 2 years when this video came out, that the trails you rode on in SP are now changed. Schroen Train has a wooden roll-in and is fast with a rock garden finish. SP jump area is now the skills zone with various progression stages. Berm Creek is all new and more fun. Angus Chute will have a new Black Diamond alternate line called Black Limousine which will be opening soon.

Scott Schroen was the marketing manager for the Phat Tire Bike shop. He lives up above Schroen Train, and the original Schroen Train looked nothing like that. It was just an XC trail that was mostly descending. Then later, when it was reworked and made into a flow trail, they continued with that name. Scott also transitioned into being the marketing and promotional manager for OZ Trails for a period of time, and was instrumental in getting the AES Enduro series off the ground, as well as increasing visibility for our area. He now owns Timbernak wood working company, and makes amazing wooden creations.
