The cleans worked. Certainly didn’t ruin the track or the moment. It’s a step forward for the band and doesn’t pigeonhole them as a stale deathcore band. Reminds me of early Slipknot
@@nnefariousjack I think this is what Suicide Silence were trying to go for with self titled album with the off key singing and what not, the way they did it didn't work. This song it's done in the right part of a song to where the vocals fit the structure, it gives off Linkin Park vibes for sure.
don't worry ,I think you'll find it more likeable after your 3rd 5th or even 20th listen. Unique chorus and something new, if you had similar songs to demolisher every time, it would start getting boring real quick no matter how good the song is.
Have to agree fully and so far what I like is Agony, Demolisher, and Baba Yaga are all heavy of course. But the build up to the breakdowns are kind of similar to a point but what makes it so tasteful is each song really sounds so different!!! I’m loving the path that they are taking so much!!!!!!
This band is beyond great It just needs more exposure and the russian goverment has to losen Up with their ability to travel outside their borders . Clearly they LOVE their country and show It proudly.
I disagree if every song was like Demolisher that would be amazing. I only got bored of Demolisher and Agony because I listened to them 100x+ on repeat lol. But I don’t mind the cleans took a second listening to enjoy them a lot.
Exactly I’ve seen a lot of hate for this song and my reply to those comments were so you guys just want to keep deathcore bands doing the same all repetitive deathcore bullshit all the time which is constantly relying on breakdowns and chugs if you keep doing that the genre will die it’ll get old and boring and stale
@@seanbass7939 sadly this is a common thing in Metal, a lot of fans cant stand change at all, so in most cases the bands are forced into playing the same way, lest they get threatened with losing their fans and all the revenue that comes with. just to be clear... i fucking HATE people like that! Musicians are artists, and with art they have the right to create what they feel like creating! fuck the monotone fans with a rusty metal spike!
For me, stankface from start to finish, felt the chorus was refreshing and the video itself is just pure gold! Can’t wait to see what they come up with next! 🔥🤘🏻
Almost every reaction video is IOWA vibes or NU deathcore and im all fucking for it. That brake down tho OMFG ❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥. The cleans are so fucking good honestly

At first I thought the same about the cleans, but man, they really grow on you. I've listened to this Song a couple times now, and I must say, I love it. It brings variety, has a cool vibe... Just let it grow 🤘🏽
The cleans were kinda confusing the first time I listened to this song but really, they got better and better with every listen and I would even go that far to say, that the chorus is one of the favorite things in this song now. Such a Nu Metal / Slipknot vibe that I love. So much different styles and influences in this song, it's just awesome. Killer song!
Same. When I first heard the song and that chorus kicked in i was like "WTF??" but after the second listen through I was sold. Baba Yaga is their best track they've released so far. And that says a lot because Demolisher is one of the best tracks of last year
The cleans are thrown in quickly and short like a dagger. It honestly works for this song in my opinion. I like them changing it up a little bit as they release singles because you never fully know what to expect (outside of pure metal badassery).
I have to disagree about the cleans. I fuckin' loved it and the whole song is a clear evolution on the right path, in my eyes and ears. I've fallen off the *insert core* core wagon a bit and to see bands take a wider swing at their music is just perfect. Great song, great video (Baba Yaga is a interesting myth) and I can't wait for more!
I agree with this. I think the blending of genres is what throws people. Which tbh. Makes sense. Emo deathcore? Wtf?!? Random. My initials are tbh. You’re welcome
They do . I just cant wait till he gets full range you know . Alex is an impressive vocalist no matter what . I think Everyone would love a Slaughter to Prevail and Slipknot tour or just even a collab with Corey . The SlaughterKnot Tour .🤘
I also just want to say that the cleans fit for me… jea… it’s not demolisher… but do we need every single song of StP to be almost the same? It’s great that they mix it a little up. They’re still tooo heavy for a bigger audience… and for us metal fans, they are refreshing the music we already know 👍🔥 GREAT SONG AWSOME VIDEO … the album will be killer 🤟
the band is carving their path to more wider audience and I believe that Alex wants to improve his vocals to not be just a one trick pony, loving it and made me even more hyped for album!
I think the cleans fit really well. They sound almost dissonant and fit along with the horror theme of the song. He's also recently started with cleans and introducing them into an STP song this early on is a brave move. I find it to be really good, but others have other opinions.
I’ve never been a fan of Alex’s cleans but I didn’t mind em on this one. This is one that the more I listen to it the more the cleans and how he used them grow on me. Alex ain’t exactly a “singer”, he is a Russian demon made flesh but we know he works on cleans and respect to him for it. By far the best utilization of his cleans in my opinion is his cover of Rag and Bones man
When Slaughter To Prevail isn’t heavy enough for you lol. I’ll respectfully disagree and I think I after a couple listens you might feel it fits a little better...especially when the album comes out and it’s brutality after brutality. That being said love your stuff man keep it up!
I liked it. The cleans felt like they came straight from some Limp Bizkit type song. A new sound form STP but a sound i like. Demolisher was just complete eardrum restructure. while this had sections where i could recouperate.
I got very heavy early Slipknot vibes "Agony" and then this track as well. I think i remember an interview with Alex where he talks about being a huge Slipknot fan. Maybe this album is heavily influenced by early Slipknot?
I overall very much loved the track, to me the cleans fit the song how they were used, at first listen it did throw me off and didn't like it much but after listening to it more the cleans are a nice touch to it and grows on you c:
Love this. Love the variety. Bears repeated listening. 😁 A progression from Demolisher. Disagree with your view on the "cleans". But love your channel.
The cleans actually make this song new and refreshing. I loved them! Honestly though I'm tired of everyone comparing to demolisher like it was their peak song. I think I'm in the minority when I say I liked Agony more than Demolisher.
I fucking dig the track, I really felt the same about the cleans at first multiple listens you can really appreciate the effort in showing vocal range. Cleans aren't my deal either but the range he achieves in this song is mind-blowing.

Baba Yaga, oh [Outro] Blood wе drunk, flesh we ate Blood we drunk, flesh we ate
I really like your reactions and I regularly watch them. You are my favorite reactionary producer. Your reaction for "the Prophets of Loss" by Cattle Decap was my introduction to your videos, in 2017. I just feel to express my opinion; I liked the cleans. It felt like the first time hearing Slipknot, when they weren't deluded by a commercialistic sound (like "Wait and Bleed" an example of when they were good. Their third album is when the commercialism really started to seep in). I felt it gave the song more dimension. It sounded kind of like what the band Textures does, in a way. I feel like it would have been a bit more monotonous without the break up, with this song, anyway. Just my take. Keep doin' the good work you do! through watching your videos, I discovered Archspire, Slaughter to Prevail, and Lorna Shore. Oh, and Leo Moracchioli. Thanks. Just a side note, my user name is due to the band that got me into REAL Metal. My First album was 'Negation'. I still get nostalgic listening to it. My Father is a drummer and I remember his reaction when I let him hear "The Fury" on that album. His face at the beginning was like: "ok, what the hell is this?!" All of a sudden, deafening precise drums and guitar, and the words: "Forward on! Just go on! Directionless rush, for close by, before Species specific-motion. No change for equilibrium-stop!" Man! that song blew me away! My Dad too. then we went on to Necrophagist and Meshuggah... and the rest is history, as they say... lol
Honestly, I loved the cleans. Added an air of eeriness to the video, I think it was possibly purposefully off key. Reminded me of like an emo throwback song (for that specific part). The song itself was wonderfully brutal along with the video. I loved it.
I DONT believe the cleans RUINED THE TRACK. Just in the small sections where they were. When he says "I Can't Stand". I was taken out of the overall vibe. Everything else is GREAT
I think it threw everyone for a whirl lmao. That was gunna be divisive and I’m sure they knew it. I have a feeling this album is gunna have plenty of surprises that work for some and not for others haha
The cleans were unexpected. not necessarily off key in my personal opinion... For me personally this was as good as demolisher, Love it. Been listening to it ever since yesterday. The Slipknot feel is definitely there. But it works. I was a fan of Slipknot until the subliminal verses. Alex takes his main vocal range to a completely different level though. I can mention this is well with drums. It's just different dude. The influence is most definitely there, But it's different. As for the breakdown I saw a lot of the same of which you did. It was good For me. Im still 💦💦💦💦🖕🏻 tis a good song my dude. But I know you know that. This isn't hello Kitty booboo death punch 👅
This whole song feels like a massive flex from Alex. Kinda like, "Look at every vocal technique I can do." And the video is the most Russian thing I've ever seen.
I think they smashed it. Imagine if they just did demolisher part 2, we would moan and say they just copied what was popular. But they pushed themselves to make something different and i think it worked. Slipknot and korn vibes mixed in with deathcore. Winner winner 🙃
Dude it was awesome. And alot more range than other songs. Not every song is only to support a breakdown. I liked how he showed his range. I like how it was put together
I had the same reaction to the cleans as you did but it has grown on me. Reminds me of Slipknot haha! It'll grow on ya GC! Love the whole song now! \m/
the cleans are special for me because they add a little bit of disturbance to the dark growling and really hit you like a slap in the face to fit the theme of baba yaga more... I can´t stop listening to that song!
Some references, that can be found there. Baba Yaga - in slavic folklore its witch, that lives in deep forest (word Baba or Баба in russian means either grandmother or countryside style of calling any woman. Thats kinda rude, but still), and in some stories acts as helper to hero of story, and sometimes works as "horror" antagonist, like she's stealing children and cook em in big pot. Also, btw, anthropologists, who study russian folklore also associates Baba Yaga with... How to say that. Like gatekeeper between real world and world of the dead, like clear origins of that character are somewhat unclear. In famous John Wick series John's nickname is Baba Yaga, altough she's clearly mythologycally woman, no male counterpart. So i can think that they either played on topic of either Alex acting as Baba Yaga, like some of russian lyrical parts saying, or he acted as killer of witch, because you can see, that body parts - head look like kinda womans head. So, he killed and they with boys eaten Baba Yaga, presumably. Also, interior in start of video is clearly interior of traditional russian/slavic home from mid-ages to even nowadays in countryside parts of Russia. One of boys also cooked some body parts in pot in start. So, thats mythological references. English lyrics and some parts of russian one are in style of "Im so tough, cool, dont cross way before me", etc. So i assume, thats probably reference to John Wick, like all that lasers pointed at Alex, tank, rocket launcher, bulletproof west. Also, scene in the end, where they play russian roulette - they all wearing russian gopnik, or 90-2000's russian mafia style clothing, thats why tracksuits with gold chains, leather jackets, etc. It is canonical look of russian gangster from mid nineties to up to 2010. Also, whole scene, i think, is reference to somewhat "cultish" russian dark comedy, called Жмурки, or Jmurki in stransliteration. I dont know, how to translate that word in context, because there can be serious wordplay. That is very obscure, gory and dark comedy about some unfortunate russian bandits and their doings. Also, i think, that song is somewhat collection of all russian related stereotypes, like bear, russian house, baba yaga (folklore witch), tank, rocket launcher, AK rifle, winter, bandits, vodka, russian roulette. But its not just like stereotypes, but whole design of video is not just make fun of em, but to make em look cool and stylish, so group definetely embracing that "folklore". Sorry for bad english and long post
The first listen the cleans did sound super weird, however after 5-6 listens they sound dope and really add to the song, breakdown hit harder then demolisher for me tbh
After listening to it alot, I love the cleans, they ground you for a few seconds and then Alex snaps you right back in.. Overall song is amazing and good to see Alex experimenting.. the album is going to be a journey!
I loved it I like the clean vocals had a slipknot vibe to it it’s all about keeping it fresh doing something different you can’t keep doing the same all repetitive deathcore bullshit all the time chugs and breakdowns and breakdowns it gets old and stale need to change it up and try new shit and it worked
@@VulgarMidasthis song sucks because it had a slipknot vibe as he mentioned (I hate em and deathcore, period.) I cringed at the cleans in this, because it wasn't in tune and it did not fit in this song.
The clean shows dynamic, and there's nothing wrong with the notes. This song is incredible, all the genres seamesly blended creating a new kind of beast. I am one who always appreciate new ideas and experimentations, and to me they should implement even more melodies.
I agree with you in the oddity of some of those parts like the cleans. As said in the comments too I feel the Slipknot vibe, which I know was an inspiration for this band as they were for many. Clean vocals gave me Slipknot album or "Left Behind" vibes in it which was nice. I think there was more of an imbalance that wasn't doing it for me on the back half of the song especially with the breakdown, just not as "punchy" as they normally do even going back to old material.
The cleans gave me more of the nu-metal vibe you were talking about. They add to that. It was also a good break from the brutality of the rest of the song. I think that it otherwise would've been a bit boring, because it's longer than Demolisher
I really struggled with the cleans the first time or two through, but I came to appreciate the overall range that Alex brought. Just so long as this doesnt become a regular style.
What a guy! 😂 I had the same reaction about the cleans at my first listen, now I appreciate them way more! The song is actually much more complex than what it might sound at first.
It's the other way round for me. I much prefer metal with clean vocals mixed in which is why I love Slipknot so much and bands like that. So when I heard the cleans in this song, it blew me away. So I can understand why lifelong fans of this band and the people who are in to extreme death core may be disappointed in them but for me, it worked a treat and I love this track 🤘
I actually love the cleans. Obviously very Slipknot inspired, and I don’t feel they were off key at all. Personally, it hit in every way perfectly. My favorite was definitely the nu metal bits with Alex making them sound nice and brutal!!
This is the first song i've heard from them and I loved it. I do see your point but I kinda like the singing parts but that's me.The drums reminded me of am AK-47 the lead singer is a sawed-off shotgun and the guitar and bass are like pistols. I'm gonna get one of those mask funny the one you have is the one I like the most. How long did it take too get it amd did you have any trouble getting it?
Man, i never heard in any deathcore song so clean and catchy chorus. So i think at least they try do something else, unusual. May be it first step of evolution of the genre
YOU NEED TO CHECK OUT Born Of Osiris’s new track! “ Angle or Alien “ what a video and track! You will have thoughts about that shit from one Canadian to another 🇨🇦 🍁
You rocked the cleans the first time around GC, but then didn't the second time around? Check back at 2:00 in the video, you had your head nod shit going. Then made the yuk face on the second chorus. Or did you just not like it in that spot? I thought it tied in great. As a metal vocalist, I always loved going clean to heavy/guttural. Takes the fans on a roller coaster ride.
I see where you're coming from but I think it's a lot of fun that they're doing something new. Like we all know what Alex can do but it can get a bit old if they don't experiment and make some quality music.
The cleans were supposed to be sung with the purpose of capturing angst and anxiety and sort of how you'd sound when you're feeling sick. The lyrics in that particular part are "I can't stand Your promises and words, I'm done and sick", I'll admit that it sounds shrill and I'm not even sure if it's in the right key, but it's because it's supposed to be. 😂
I can understand why you didn't like the clean vocals. Everybody f**ks their own way, meaning that you're into what you're into. No harm in telling your opinion. But I absolutely loved that little snippet of cleans. I just hope to the metal gods that they don't Parkway Drive us... God damn it Winston, you done goofed up
