Demolisher is waaaay heavier than Baba Yaga but Baba Yaga is more groove filled and melodic than Demolisher. Both amazing songs in their own regards I'd like to think

I love slaughter but I'm gonna stop you there. Slaughter and Slipknot are two entirely different bands in entirely different genres of music. There is no comparison. Slaughter are in their own lane (What I'm gonna refer to as Nu-Deathcore) and Slipknot is more traditionally in the Nu-Metal/Heavy metal scene. Similarities in the genre? maybe but entirely different entities. They're both doing well in their own regards. Alex just has more shock factor compared to Corey
Baba Yaga comes from Slavic mythology. She was a terrible witch who lived deep in the woods in a chicken's paw hut. She kidnapped people, mostly children, and ate them.

Baba Yaga is a supernatural being from Slavic folklore. Similar to the witch from Hansel & Gretel, Baba Yaga is often depicted as a child-eating monster who dwells in the woods. Fun fact: She also lives in a hut which stands on chicken legs. Just a fun fact I read
That's pretty wrong way of understanding - the way Christianity would people to see their folklore. As bad, angry and child eating Of course there is finally a very good lore of bad monster (especially for that kind of stuff), but earlier Yaga was very smart old lady with exclusive knowledge of many strange things, leaved very far from people in forest, who almost always helped the hero of legends and other strangers (sometimes bad guys too), told them information they needed, if he was smart enough or helped her. Ussr made a lot of books with legends of many nationalities and ethnic groups. The break down near the end followed by that outro were so fucking sick. This band gets better and better with every song. Agony was great, Demolisher was fantastic but Baba Yaga is their best product yet.
Some references, that can be found there. Baba Yaga - in slavic folklore its witch, that lives in deep forest (word Baba or Баба in russian means either grandmother or countryside style of calling any woman. Thats kinda rude, but still), and in some stories acts as helper to hero of story, and sometimes works as "horror" antagonist, like she's stealing children and cook em in big pot. In famous John Wick series John's nickname is Baba Yaga, altough she's clearly mythologycally woman, no male counterpart. So i can think that they either played on topic of either Alex acting as Baba Yaga, like some of russian lyrical parts saying, or he acted as killer of witch, because you can see, that body parts - head look like kinda womans head. So, he killed and they with boys eaten Baba Yaga, presumably. Also, interior in start of video is clearly interior of traditional russian/slavic home from mid-ages to even nowadays in countryside parts of Russia. One of boys also cooked some body parts in pot in start. So, thats mythological references. English lyrics and some parts of russian one are in style of "Im so tough, cool, dont cross way before me", etc. So i assume, thats probably reference to John Wick, like all that lasers pointed at Alex, tank, rocket launcher, bulletproof west. Also, scene in the end, where they play russian roulette - they all wearing russian gopnik, or 90-2000's russian mafia style clothing, thats why tracksuits with gold chains, leather jackets, etc. It is canonical look of russian gangster from mid nineties to up to 2010. Also, whole scene, i think, is reference to somewhat "cultish" russian dark comedy, called Жмурки, or Jmurki in stransliteration. I dont know, how to translate that word in context, because there can be serious wordplay. That is very obscure, gory and dark comedy about some unfortunate russian bandits and their doings. Also, i think, that song is somewhat collection of all russian related stereotypes, like bear, russian house, baba yaga (folklore witch), tank, rocket launcher, AK rifle, winter, bandits, vodka, russian roulette. But its not just like stereotypes, but whole design of video is not just make fun of em, but to make em look cool and stylish, so group definetely embracing that "folklore". To be outstanding in metal you need at least 2 things: An excellent drummer and a memorable front man, and STP has those in spades. Plus Alex is a ham who watches reactions to his own music and comments on them! Fuckin cool dude
