I always say, a man who masters 1 thing, can master anything. And often, because of the process of becoming a master, he learns subtle things that all masters, regardless of their profession, learns. This interview, and other interviews of Mike Tyson, over the past few years, this man has an extreme understanding of psyche that many don't have. But, it is because of his journey, and the self-reflection that he has come to this. I am happy that he shares it, and that others give him the platform to share it. If he wrote a book on THAT, I would buy it.

All I know is from my POV Kevin Rooney always had Mike right in the ring. He would shoot out those numbers and Mike executed - all good. Once Mike got away from him to Don King trainers it was oh no.

I surmised this before, but I can now definitively say that Mike Tyson’s domination in the ring during his hey day was no overzealous brute bulldozing his opponents, but an extremely skilled, cerebral, and calculating figure that understood how to beat his opponents mentally by using his physical presence and an overwhelming physical, yet skillful, attack. Mike had everyone fooled for years, that he was this big “John Henry” type of fellow, when really he was more akin to “Machiavelli”. Truly, you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. I’m curious to know what his career would have looked like had he bypassed the drugs, alcohol, and extreme, womanizing. No one will ever truly know, but it’s an interesting thought.

Just watched a compilation video of Mike's early fights. He was beautiful man; powerful, strong , focused and humble. You can almost see him counting his opponents punches waiting for an opening to strike. You've got to have an ambidextrous brain to do that.

Tyson may claim that his original team wanted to control him and that's probably true just to keep outsiders like Don king from trying to take over Tyson after cus died But every true Tyson fan can see the difference in his boxing skills straight after Getting rid of Kevin Rooney.. No more peek-a-boo, no more going to the body as Kevin always told him to do that.. No jab.. Just head hunting.. So Kevin was essential to Tyson's peek performance!

Its pretty amazing what Mike and Cus achieved in terms of athleticism. boxing mastery from 15 to 20 thats only 5 years of a young kid, in terms of strength and conditioning and performing beautiful perfect biomechanical hooks and body rips and overhand right. And that jab is the best i have ever seen anyone do. That long power knockout jab off the slip that sets everything else up. Its the best jab in boxing history . And that beautiful square stance which protects from body shots and his nice inside punching. He can hit them and they cant hit back simple genius. Theres real genius in that style when you watch it 1000 times.
