I was very very lucky to join this incredible band at the age of 20! The bass player Mark Adams showed up at my Mom and Dad's house in 1982 and I joined as lead singer that same year! What an incredible experience.....I miss these guys and they deserved Grammy awards before I even met them! Historical group right here!
Yes Thank you very much I am singing every song lead vocals on the new plateau album. I joined on Bad Enuff album and sang with The Great Danny Webster on "Steppen Out" and "In and Out". also I co wrote songs on both albums.@@morggee
My mom played this song . I remember every album she had purchased from the King James record store in West Philadelphia on 52nd and Girard Ave . I was a little girl by in the 70’s . I think the music then was more enjoyable.
I was 2 years old when this song came out and it still sounds great in 2024. My Uncle was playing The Best of Slaves CD in 93 and I been listening to their music ever since. Salute to the Legends 👏
RIP Mr Mark your marksmanship on that bass has never been matched as for Drac damage has been made and you 2 dudes left us too soon ,yall are forever on my Playlist
Its nothing like the sound of great music from professional artist. Slave is and will always be one of the greatest Soul and Funk Bands from the era of the best music in the70s and 80s. 🎶
You know in the 1930 you had big bands and 1940s and 1950s you had people that would sing solo like BB King and Sam Cooke, then you got to the round the 70s and early 80s then you start seeing more singing groups. And the late 90s and 2000 you have rappers. Singing groups in the 70 are the best !!! 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽
Man the bass lead and carried this Jam the whole song, I was only 4 years old when this came out in 77, but I can remember I Uncle playing this jam in his car on eight track man, cruising
My baby brother (who was 16 at the time ) actually turned me on to these guys. Our mother wouldn't let him play his records; so he'd bring them over to my house to play them. To reward him for introducing me to these bad ass FUNKMEISTERS....I kept this album. 😉
Was always a huge fan of lead guitar in funk, R/B & reggae bands like Parliament Funkadelic & Isley Bros. & Black Uhuru. Wish more black bands had lead guitar solos. 🔥
Man Mark “Han Solo” Adams used to make that bass growl!!!!! RIP Legend. Grateful I was able to meet you before you transitioned. One of my bass heroes for sure!
This version has one THE BEST guitar 🎸 solos out there. Only thing comparable is extended versions from Parliament Funkadelic. Just simply bad ass, feet don't fail me now.
can you give me some songs like this one with some nice bass guitar sounds . i love the 70’s era so much organic creativity . Im 26 btw lol but i love that era man
I beg to differ on your statement re: “ only parliament/funkadelic…extended versions being comparable…”. Islets’ PARTS 1 and 2, hello?!? Butt, and this is a big ol funky butt, SLAVE’s sound/playing-COLLLD.
I saw these Brothers back around 1978 at Eastern New Mexico University, a College nobody's ever heard of in a City you've probably never heard of either, Portales. Before this I'd never been to a concert and would would not have believed anyone but Jimi Hendrix himself could have mastered lead guitar like what I was experiencing live before me! Great performance!
