Slavic symbols originate from Northern Europe and Eurasia. The Slavs, who were their creators, are an ethnic group that has existed in Europe since at least time of the Romans. Slavs are largest ethnic group in Europe that share a linguistic and cultural history.
Ancient Slavs lived in tribal societies, presided over by tribal chieftains, and practiced a multi-theistic form of Paganism. Over time, however, tribes were consolidated and, not long after, most converted to Christianity.
The symbols in this category predominantly originate from the pre-Christian period and related to the gods (bogs) of the Pagan Slavic mythology.
The Slavic mythology personified many aspects of the world, with worshipers believing that waters, forests, households and even illnesses were represented or governed by spirts. Equally important to the Slavic mythology was the worship of ancestors, though the tribes did not keep ancestral records. It was believed that dead ancestors existed within the same spiritual plane as the Slavic deities.
Also worshipped were primary gods, associated with the sun, moon, skies, heaven and the underworld. The Slavs believed in three planes of existence: the heavens, governed by Perun, Dazhbog, Mokosh and Lada, symbolized by the sun and the moon; the earthly plane, occupied by humanity; and the underworld, symbolized by snakes and darkness, ruled over by Veles.
In the modern day, some ancient Slavic rituals persist in Eastern and Northern Europe. Others have been assimilated by Christian teaching and aligned with new beliefs. A new Pagan belief system, Rodnovery, has arisen in recent years, claiming to be a continuation of the ancient Slavic beliefs that Christianity replaced in the middle ages.

A Croatian author Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić wrote a book "Priče iz davnine"(The stories from ancient times) in which she includes many of the Slavic folk creatures and Gods. She is one of our most valued authors and the said book is a mandatory book in schools. I think it's great how we are still preserving our Slavic culture. Slava iz Hrvatske.

1:17 Svarozhich (Swarożyc in polish) name indicates "the son of Svarog". The -yts (-ic) ending is like in germanic languages Anders-son, the son of Anders.

IS there a Symbol for the Goddess of Winter Veliona?
@Кипящийразум
@Кипящийразум 2 года назад
There were four hypostases of the Sun God, according to the number of seasons: Khors (Kolyada), Yarilo, Dazhdbog (Kupaila) and Svarog (Svetovit). Functional gods: Perun - patron of lightning and warriors; Semargl - the god of death, the image of the sacred heavenly fire; Veles - black god, lord of the dead, wisdom and magic; Stribog is the god of the wind.

As a Roman speaking a Latin based language (the half of Europe speaks romance languages) , I was searching for "Romans symbols" but I found Aztec's ones....

Slavic culture is much older than Roman. Oldest Slavic symbols(Exactly these ones that were shown in the video) were found in Belgrade Serbia(Archaeological site: Vinca) and are 6000 years old. Alongside many skeletons that carried Slavic y-haplogroups.
@lucaschiantodipepe2015

@@serbsrb you're probably right, I don't know. I read that Slavs didn't have any alphabet (Greeks and Romans had) and they adopted the Cyrillic many centuries later. In Lombardy region (North Italy) there is in same caves the symbol of "rosa camuna", a flower with four petals (a solar symbol?). This one is in the flag of Lombardy region. It dates back one millennium ago.

@@lucaschiantodipepe2015 Let me put it this way. We can talk about symbols all we want, but science is science. All genetic studies have shown the same result. First people that ever lived in Europe had I y-haplogroup. They populated the whole continent for thousands of years. When the laste ice age ended they diveded into two branches I1 and I2. I1 went north(Scandinavia), and I2 stayed in the south. After them the people with R1a y-haplogroup came to Europe from the East arround 6000 years ago. They mixed with I2 people and lived in peace. The last ones to come were R1b people. They killed almost everyone. Scientist say they killed every 9 out of 10 people they found in Europe. It means 90% of the population. It was a big genocid know as "the death of old Europe" in science. I1 and I2 people had to retreat to corners of the contitent, to hardly accesable places where they will be able to survive. To put it into context: R1b haplogroup carries: 58% of French people, 59% of people in Belgium, 67% of people in UK, 81% of peopke in Ireland, 39% of people in Italy, 69% of people in Spain, 44% of people in Germany... R1a haplogroup: 41% of people in Slovakia, 38% of people in Slovenia, 51% of people in Belarus, 57% of people in Poland, 46% of people in Russia, 44% of people in Ukraine... Slavic people (excluding south Slavs) are now R1a, western people (excluding Scandinavian people are R1b). South Slavic and Scandinavian people were the original people in Europe. They separated into 2 brances, South Slavs mixed with R1a people and that's how Slavic people came to be (Slavic-Славяне-people who speak the same language) and Scandinavian peopke mixed with R1b people. We can clearly see it today: South Slavic people have I2 and R1a genetics: Serbian people have 45% I2 and 20% R1a, Croatian people 45% I2 and 24% R1a, Romanian people have 30% I2 and 20% R1a(they speak different language now, but they are also Slavic, their culture, religion, genetics...), Bosnian people have 50% of I2 and 18% of R1a... Scandinavian people: Denmark 34% I1 and 33% R1b(15% R1a, because the first mixed with R1a who came to Europe in peace), Norway 31% I1, 32% R1b ( 25% R1a), Sweden 37% I1, 25% R1b... What is intersting is that people in Sardinia have 40% I2 genes today. This is where they have managed to survive. This little pocket, and the one on the Dinara mountain in the Balkans. Fun fact also: all the nations of Europe have at least some percent of I haplogroup genes. Also fun fact: these first settlers of Europe, I haplogroup people(that later dividet into I1 and I2) were the ones that built Stonehenge.

@@lucaschiantodipepe2015 So it is no wonder if Slavic symbols were found anywhere in Europe, let alone north Italy. You know the Venezia city in Italy. Veneti was the original name for Slavic people. Slavic is a later name which literally means "the ones that can speak". (slovo-word, slovyan-the one that can speak). To this day, we call our first neighborsthe Germans "Nemci" and their countrie's official name in any Slavic language is "Nemacka"(nem-mute/one that can not speak, Nemacka-land of mute people). And do you know what wester people have calle Slavic people for hundreds of yeara, up until recently? Vendi or Veneti. You can go to Germany and see a Slavic Sorbian museum. The aname of the museum is written in German and Sorbish: Wendisches Museum Cottbus/Serbski muzej Chóśebuz. They call us Vendi to this day.
