The dangerous element of slayer never left, I've been lucky enough to see them 10 times before they retired and every time I witnessed more brutal violence than I ever have anywhere else, first time at Concord pavillion a dude got thrown into the steel barricade and fell over and dropped from the lawn roughly 6-8ft to the concrete, always saw fights, people getting cut, orbital sockets broken, other misc. broken bones, that fuckin EMS booth was always filled with poor souls who got massively fucked up during a slayer gig. The only time I saw slayer and there wasn't widespread violence was 2015 at Mayhem fest worst I saw was two dudes fighting eachother while falling down some steps, cow palace i remember a giant brawl broke out right before the world painted blood intro, I'm forever lucky i got to witness it and avoid ever getting hurt lol

( jk 😂) I first saw the RIB show at this little club which’s now the only game in town any of them play and I remembered that right before Slayer hit the stage; those amps were actually shakin’ hundreds more in front of myself than I anticipated and I was scared shitless of going anywhere nearby. This pit was pretty much the most violent one I’d seen at the time and I tried staying far away from it; yet I was pulled into a sea of idiots in that whirlwind of all those bodies! I was totally used to that until I saw this particular gig and 8 years later would be on the road with both them and COC for a part of their Divine Intervention and Deliverance Tour overseas. I remember bringing "South of Heaven" on cassette to school in 8th grade after it came out, and all my friends and other metal heads were in awe of the cover and song titles. I converted quite a few people that day, most of whom are still fans to this day.

@@kevinscott3315 Seasons was my first slayer cassette that got me in to the band at 18 years old. Back then you could read Metal Edge and trade tapes with people in the magazine ads and look for when the bands were touring in your city. I was already in to Metallica and Megadeth before Slayer. Now I am all "growed up" and listen to Slayer every day! Lol

It was also a great place for pro wrestling and early gangsta rap shows

I'm a big Lombardo fan and feel if he is not in the shot. Just watching vocals and guitars gets boring. Lombardo fuels the chaos. He needs to be seen.

This was pre-clash of the titans tour which happened over the summer. This one just had Testament supporting.

What are the specs of your kit?

​@James Walker I saved up $2600 cash and was searching constantly just about everyday and finally found a guy selling his 9pc Tama Artstar Custom in black. Bought it in 2006. Since then I bought a Tama Bell Brass snare (which cost me $2500) and the same cymbals Dave used (Paiste Signature, Rude and 2002 series). Join the Vintage Tama Facebook page. That's the best place to look for a big vintage Tama kit. As for the Slayer tribute - it took a lot of time to get off the ground in finding the right people. The pandemic didn't help either but we're complete now. Have 15 songs in the set. My bandmates are investing in the right equipment they used back then. Tom's B.C. Rich Wave bass and Kerry's ESP red crackle V was just recently submitted to order so we've gotta wait about 6 more months to get them. By then we'll be ready to hit the stage. We're called Ghosts of War and intend to play homage to Slayer the right way by playing to the albums note for note. You can find us on Facebook.
