The reason slayer is in my musical arsenal is because it's heavy and you can still understand wtf he's saying. Speed and heaviness is awesome. But when I can't tell wtf a singer is saying. Or grunting like he's squeezing a hard shit out. Doesn't work for me.
You don’t even need to be watching the band to get the full Slayer experience, as Black Dahlia Murder frontman Trevor Strnad once told “When you go see Slayer, you go to the bathroom and you’re taking a piss and the guy next to you looks right at you and screams, ‘Slayer!’ in your face. And then 13 other people start screaming ‘Slayer!’ in the men’s bathroom. And that’s what it’s all about, dude.”
@@oni8581 i saw them live back in 2015 at a festival but i didn’t listen to them at the time. i honestly regret not knowing any of their songs back then
I went to a Slayer concert once, and there were Slayer screams all the time, including in the bathroom. The Slayer shouts happen at non-Slayer shows too. If you walk past a venue hosting a metal band, you can yell, "FUCKING SLAYER!" and there will be people to follow it up with a "SLAYER!" It's the metal version of "Live long and prosper," especially when accompanied by the horns.
yeh true, paul bostaph is a pretty good drummer he's done 2 or 3 albums with em,dave was an in house thing between members but Jeffs replacement had to be particular,Exodus were always tight with slayer & Gary & Jeff were really good friends & i remember Tom Araya saying when Gary's name popped up they knew he was the one i think he was a nice touch in place of Jeff for a last album
literary.they finished the tour and everything fell apart couple of days after. Slayer was the only extreme band big enough to tour big arenas and now its gone.there will be no other bands like them ever again.
Who knows they could end up writing another album one of these days after some time... maybe an anniversary album or another tribute album to Jeff... Kerry said he’s gunna continue making music so he might be able to talk Tom and Gary into something
My first Slayer song I ever heard was actually Repentless, back in 2016 (I used to listen to rap, yikes) Been a fan of Slayer and metal ever since \m/.
@@GREENWARRI0R yeah! Ever heard of Playboi carti? He has a slayer tatto on his hand and I think some of his songs are inspired by slayer on the album wlr.
@@GREENWARRI0R yeah cringe to mention that, you don't need to change anything because you listen to or discovered slayer etc. I like top 40 pop music, I like technical death metal, I like math rock, I like slayer and I like rap music YiKeS
Vices was the first Slayer song I ever heard, a friend showed it to me. I was instantly hooked, I’m sure you can imagine my excitement when I found out that they had EVEN better albums
Make sure you check out the ones that did not make the albums....Look into the Sountrack to the apocalypse .That box set has the tracks that did not make the cut
@@fuckwad2024 My first Slayer album was GHUA and I was blown away until I heard the albums prior to that one. I still love GHUA and have some little love for Diabolous which is for me and many other Slayer fans their weakest album. but Repentless lacks everything, drumming is too slow , mid tempo songs are horrible and they go nowhere, production is very sterile which is shame because Terry Date is one of the best producers ever. This album was not meant to be released at all,Tom wanted to quit and even he called it Half Slayer which is true. There are good moments here and there but it feels rushed nd thse parts are wasted..Slayer rules because Jeff and Dave were unique musicians along with Kerry and Toms vocals on top of it.without those two,it didnt work,it lacks the magic touches by Dave and Jeff.this is Kerrys solo record and besides intro and title rack, everything feels souless
I love this fucking album. I loved Jeff Hanneman(R.I.P.) and Dave Lombardo, but let's look at this album for what it is. It kicks total ass and is a masterpiece..Slayer forever. I wish they would get back together. I love Gary's guitar work and Paul's drumming too with Kerry and Tom. It's killer. I've seen Slayer many times live and this last tour was great too. I wish it wasn't over..I love these documentaries..
Holy crap, it just hit me that the love performance at the end is at Metropolitan Park, Jax, FL I was standing on stage at the sound mixing board near Kerry for that show! 🤘🏻😁
I just wish they'd do an album that sounds like "Seasons", or even better "South of Heaven", which some (even Kerry) wasnt completly happy with, but to me "Spirit in Black" & esp "Ghost of War" are awesome Classic Slayer, anyone agree?
spirit in black is easily their most underrated song. I was shocked when they played it live back in 2013,few weeks after Dave left the band.caught me right off the guard. that breakdown part is mindblowing, just all hells breaks loose after that.
I love this lineup it was smoking. I miss Jeff but Gary has done an insane job and is just a great guitar player and Paul Bostoff is a monster drummer the best for Slayer. 🎸🎼🎸🎼👍👍
I love you SLAYER!! I 🖤 how happy Tom is about selling his soul. 😆 Thank you for giving us a lifetime of the best, hardest, evilest fucking HEAVY METAL you could ask for. Their music makes living this hell on earth, a fuck ton better! 🖕 🤘SLAYER RULES🤘
Tom araya looks like a hippie cult leader lol. I need another slayer cover album. Of hardcore n punk bands. Undisputed attitude Part 2. I need that. RIP Jeff Hanneman.
You would think Slayer would lose something without Jeff and you would be correct. Kerry King got his chance and it’s pretty good but whatever that thing was Jeff had was critical and the void left is obvious
The more I listen to Repentless, the more I'm convinced it's their best album since Reign in Blood. Even though I hugely miss Jeff and Dave, for me, the lyrics and riffs on this record are absolutely solid and superbly executed.
Back in the 80's seen slayer in very small venues , Kerry Marker'd my friends arm with the slayer logo whic he had tattooe'd on his skin .Mosh pit security was crazier than the moshers People would get fucked up hurt the whole night kicked out of the club ,That's one of my slayer stories
Paul and Gary will FOREVER be part of Slayer. Kerry and Tom said it, not me. I’m going to pretend like my opinion matters on a hypothetical scenario here: If those two dudes didn’t have their other respective bands, and Jeff & Dave weren’t around, being a die hard metalhead and Slayer fan for over 25 years, I truly can’t think of anyone better than Gary & Paul. Those two dudes are Slayer; every bit as much as Dave, Jeff, Tom, and Kerry. I got lucky enough to see both. Slayer is (was) a small, and very tight family. And there’s a goddamn good reason why they will forever be one of the greatest bands in history. LONG LIVE FUCKIN’ SLAYER. 🤘🏻❤️🔥🤘🏻
Props to Kerry for his genius but out there mind, which makes for good Slayer music, esp doing it without Jeff, who was one of the all-time best! (RIP) 🤘
Kerry should write more songs from Jeff's perspective. Repentless is the best song on the album. Sounds like it was a lost track from Divine Intervention.
Dan died 3 days before the Repentless tour hit Toronto after an injury weeks earlier. Dan had mad respect for Slayer and went nuts trying to figure out how we could wheel him in on his death bed to see the show lol. I was a mess w his death but with his ticket raised in my fist, I screamed for the both of us at my first Slayer concert without my bud. At his funeral I put his Slayer ticket in the casket w him. Dan's band opened for Anvil back in the day then he introduced me to Merciful Fate at a small club where I got kicked in the face surfing. Our final concert being Judas Priest w Anthrax where he exclaimed "fucking wait till u see Slayer man"...RIP Dan
I've always felt a sense of comfort when listening to Slayer. It's real, brutally honest and fucking as real as it gets, so when I hear someone say the Beatles are the best rock band of all time or Elvis is the king of rock n roll I honestly feel sympathetic towards their ignorance. Slayer is closer to the classical musial orchestrations of Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin etc than Elvis or the Beatles could ever have been.
I am gutted that slayer will never play again.... I am a massive motorhead fan.... And slayer like motorhead don't care about changing with the times they are what and who they are and if you like them cool nut if you don't they don't give a fcuk.... They are basically the thrash version of motorhead... I love them for it... I do think they had/ have many years ahead of them, they are an awesome force live..... Hopefully tom has a change of heart and kerry willing to revive slayer
One of the best band but the truth pain is they were like korn Their music and every album were very predictable what is going to come same type of music somentime its boring but still love this band i know many people will grilled me what i just said but i dnt care
i wouldnt agree, i like kerrys lyrics and so did tom, if he didnt, we would have quit 30 years ago cause kerry basically always wrote the majority of slayers lyrics the main factors of slayers disbandment are: 1. jeffs death 2. lombardo 3. tom's neck 4. age 5. business stuff (tom stated in an interview with loudwire, slayer evolved from something they had wanted to do into smth they had to do)
No, I genuinely think Tom really wanted out because of the way Kerry dictated the character of the band. It's obvious that Tom and Kerry didn't get along well, with Tom being more cool-headed and Kerry being the kind of guy who doesn't know when to stop.
Does anybody know what brand or anything at all about Kerry King sunglasses I'm digging I want to buy a pair I just I'm stuck on stupid trying to find out what so if you know what kind it is please let me know all right I appreciate it later
Hardest job ever: Opening for Slayer I have seen great bands get run off the stage because when Slayer is on the ticket no one wants to hear that other shit.
slayer s my favorite band of all time. they music noisy but melodic i like that. no 1 can compare they music. unlike the other band its very noisy i hate that!
