I catered this band backstage. During that time I was able to obtain some of the drummers drum skins. The entire band signed it for me and give me a drum stick with the slayer name on it.
I really enjoy your videos. You have such a great personality and what a great message that I wish more embraced - just be a good human. Thanks for that. Would love to see your reaction to this song. A great rocking tune with a killer guitar intro and a bass line that never stops. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ct-qa6SjRZo.html
One Artist for you to React to: TOMMY BOLIN. (Tommy, sadly passed away in 1976, at the Very Early Age of 25. Just as he was on the verge of becoming Big. Stupidly, He OD'ed!! :( :( I was 17, he was My 1st Guitar Hero, and My Entire World was Rocked Hard for A Long While. Check Out: My Favorite: "Wild Dogs" and "Dreamer" both off of his 1st solo CD "Teaser". Also, "Post Toastee" from his 2nd/last solo album: "Private Eyes". IF you are Into/Like Great Dynamics, then "Dreamer" is a song for you. From sparse, mellow and pretty to Rocking Out in a beat. Then-Boom- Right back to sweet and mellow. On "Post Toastee" Everyone in the band gets to Show Off A Little! :) I would suggest the studio versions/audio of all 3.
I catered this band backstage. During this time I was able to obtain in bass drum skin. The entire band autographed it for me and gave me a slayer drumstick.
That album is a dark gem. The three late 80 albums starting with Reign in Blood, to South of Heaven, and then Seasons in the Abyss are by far masterpiece albums for the genre of Thrash Metal!
Slayer!!!!!! You're a brave man! This isn't everyone's cup of tea. Back in the day it didn't get much heavier. I was the only one of my friends that listened to this stuff. If you're headed this way I'd recommend Anthrax - Indians.
Alright now giving you all my love for reacting to SLAYER! I've been subbed to you from the beginning but this just solidified it for me! Sending some serious subbers your way after this!
Dude, your reactions are the best. Don’t ever stop doing reactions, you crack me up!😄 I watch a few other people who do reactions to music and your are by far the best.
To me, it's the drums that really give Slayer its punch. It's too bad the remaining members of Slayer did Dave wrong with the finances (long and convoluted story). Lombardo is one of the top 10 best living drummers ever, by far! The double bass drum wizard!
@@hansele666 Yes, you do have a point there. I don't think Lombardo is the all-time best drummer of all genres, just thrash. Hoglan is extremely intricate, and I love it. However, Hoglan transcends thrash, hardcore, and other extreme metals. Just my opinion, but yes credit does go out to Hogland.
I love heavy metal where you can actually understand the lyrics, otherwise it's, to me, an instrumental with growling and grunts, and in that case I'd rather just have the instrumental. On a side note, check out Marvin Gaye and Slayer mashup, "South of the Grapevine"☺.
if you have never then do yourself a favor and have about 45 mins to yourself with some good headphones and listen to the south of heaven album bonus is they do some f'n job covering an old judas priest song
I worked stagefront security for a Raven/Wasp/Slayer ticket in 1987 and it was insanely intense. The pit was a swirling mass of bodies piled high on top of each other. Hell, most of the entire lower deck (two-story theater) was pit. It was mayhem.
Took a friend to his first rock concert in 1991. It was Testament and Slayer. A guy came walking out of one of the three mosh pits, holding his right arm up with his left hand. Unfortunately, his arm was hanging sideways at a place where there is no joint. My buddy's face drained of color, and I couldn't decide if he was going to barf or pass out.
Yea ive been to hundreds of shows and Slayer definitely has some of the gnarliest crowds, everyone rushed general admission and there was nothing security could do, also was my first time seeing someone in a wheel chair crowd surfing lol
Just a reminder tomorrow is Veterans Day. I don’t presume to speak for all vets but I for one would like to see you reaction to: Billy Joel’s: Goodnight Saigon Charlie Daniels: Still in Saigon Dire Straits: Brothers in Arms. Show us veterans who are your subscribers some love on our day.
I’d recommend to some of their deeper tracks like Criminally insane, black magic, dittohead, chemical warfare, at dawn they sleep. There’s way more but those are a few of my favorites
Best reaction to Slayer ever. Love seeing people react to the first time they hear this. I wish I could bottle up my first listen back in 1988 in Dave Taylor’s car on his Alpine!!!
I just learned this song on guitar a couple months ago. One of my favorite Slayer albums. Good to see you go heavy again brother❤.. that was the music we listen to as angry teenagers LOL. But we'll always relate to it even now that we're old
You know what's great? People, guys, requesting AMAZING songs of various style but always good song! Master of Puppets, Tenesee whiskey, South of Heaven, Arials, and so forth...
Dude, Slayer fans are different. I've seen them live 23 times. When you said that about the drums I remember seeing them in 92 in Tijuana. They just got a new drummer and there is a drum solo on the song they have called Angel of Death that the entire crowd got quiet for. He nailed it.
First saw Slayer with Megadeth, Anthrax, and Alice In Chains back in 1991 for the Clash of the Titans Tour.... although my musically tastes have changed, I started listening to them in 1988.
Quite a bill. Tickets were probably $32. Saw Overkill, Motorhead and Slayer at Harpo's in Detroit in 1989 with a fake I.D. 😃. $17.50+ the ubiquitous "ticketmaster service charge".
I love your respect for all music. We may not all grow up listening to the same music, eat the same food or have the same skin color but there is a simple and complex beauty to all music. This is why I made all my children learn to play an instrument of their choosing. Keep doing what you do good sir. You make my day with your commentary and overall appreciation for music and life. Be blessed.

Saw them play a few times. First time I was 13 back in 87 and thought they'd never top it, then they played this club in spartanburg, SC in 2001 and it only had room for 700 they packed 1,600 in it and the heat killed all of the coolers and got to 105. Greatest show this century!
I don’t really listen to Slayer much anymore because I wore them out so much during my teenage years, but when I go back they are as comfortable as an old shoe. They remind me of why I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED METAL.
The very first time I heard this album was on my Walkman and I was banging my head on SEPTA which is our transit system in Philly. Slayer concerts are wild 🤘. Take care and stay safe 😷
Slayer was HUGE at my high school. When they stationed staff at all the doors to prevent escape from a pep rally in the gym, at one point the entire school, I mean every damn kid in the gym, sang Angel of Death, all the way through. Just to disrupt. Haha!! Still remember all the words too.Black Magic was always my favorite song from Slayer, that intro is stone cold! Nothing says metal like double bass, man.
Your back deco is freaking awesome. I have a ton of mini guitars lining my desk. Have a couple of what you have. Getting several more this Christmas. Love this reaction as well. Rock on my man.
I had a big smile the whole time! So glad you got to hear this! Metal mastery! You should do yourself a huge favor and check out the Brazilian band Selputura! Start with the song Territory and back that up with Dead EMBRYONIC CELLS which is a just like South of Heaven with a Brazilian flair! Get ready to want to hit the gym!!!
I've never been a huge Slayer fan, this being one of the handful of songs I enjoy. I think Jamel found out why the moment his face scrunched up! Another great reaction. Thank you again for having such an open mind, Jamel. You should try another Slayer song I enjoy greatly "Seasons in the Abyss"
Fun fact, Rick Rubin (Co-founder of Def Jam records, producer of Run-DMC, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys and Geto Boys.) was the Producer on the album this song is from as well as a bunch of other Slayer-albums.
Here is a little Slayer secret for you. When they perfromed LIVE, for the most part it was, Jeff stage Left, and Kerry stage Right. When you listen to there music, whatever Jeff is playing, in on the Left, Kerry Right. Same for those trade off solos.
I remember being 17 and going with a guy that had friends that practiced in a warehouse. Slayer, Megadeth, DOA. You name it they played it. Awesome days they were.
From the Seasons In The Abyss album, "Skeletons Of Society" is my favorite Slayer song (for what it's worth) and is a hardcore but 'slower', constant groove. You should do a reaction video to that one. I think you would enjoy.
Another band that saved my life!!! To explain: I had a speech impediment. Learned to play music to express myself. Slayer does the vocals in a very clear, well spoken way ( A.k.a.-angray baptist preacher). Gave me the inspiration to talk again. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
The first time I ever saw Slayer was in 1996 at the Trocadero in philadelphia. They opened the show with this song and the crowd was so loud in the intro we drowned out the band. One of the top 5 shows I ever went to.
Slayer has such fantastic lyrics, it’s a horror story with music. Had a girl in high school say that this music is satanic but you don’t see people calling horror movies satanic. It’s the same thing in a different medium.
I see a lot of recommendations for Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss, but for me it's Dead Skin Mask all the way. You can't tease us with just ONE more Slayer reaction Jamel, c'mon! :)
The main reason I listen to Slayer is not for the lyrics. I can really careless. I listen to Slayer for the energy, especially the drumming...Lombardo is the best modern day drummer that is still playing!!!
Deep down inside your bones is where a metalhead feels his music. And it's something that'll just move you. And seeing and hearing Jamal react to SLAYER is obviously a metalhead
Once at a slayer concert in England my shoe lace came undone. I wanted to tie it before the next song and this guy in a banana costume came out of no where and said don't worry banana man will protect you
This is the thing about hard metal stuff like this! You hear those screaming guitars, fast tempos, and grisly lyrics, and then you look at the band. People think man, they must be a right bunch of evil bastards, but hold your horses people! Bass player, and vocalist Tom Araya is one of the nicest, chilled out guy you could imagine. I say this because so many of these guys/bands get a bad rap outside of the metal industry! Books and covers to the ignorant minded out there. I'm not even a massive metal fan, although i know what i like, but i just had to get it off my chest! 🤘
My first CD. My dad two 15 or 18 inch subs. My cousins and I would headbang until about the time my dad would be getting home from work. One day the neighbor across the street complained to my dad about the loud music. He said he could feel the vibration in his house. My dad responded with would you rather them be out in the streets causing trouble.
This is my all-time favorite Slayer tune!!! 🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘 If you haven't done Seasons In the Abyss, you need to do that one. Reign In Blood is another must listen.
