Poor old Blackpool compared to the prom, the backstreets always were a bit seedy and rundown but it was were you found the best shops with interesting items at good prices. Like most places it needs reinventing with a lot of TLC Thanks for sharing the less glamerous side of Blackpool.

Terrific video lads. My ex's ex husband had a Chinese Medicine shop in Blackpool. Acupunture, acupressure etc. And legitimate massage. He was amazing at massage. I always felt great for about a week later. He could also stop a nose bleed instantly with acupressure. Sadly it's long gone.

Great video. The phone boxes around us are now book exchanges. When I used to go into Manchester a famous underground toilet on Oxford Road was turned into a record store then a bar.

The Allandale is on google street view - go back to 2009 and its open and looks pretty nice - (79 Abingdon St, Blackpool FY1 1PP)

There's some fabulous architecture in Blackpool, it's a great shame that so much of it has been lost forever though. So many derelict hotel's in the town. As a regular visitor to Blackpool & having stayed in many hotels/B&B's i think many of the failures of these places have been down to the owners not doing the job properly.

We used to stay at the b&b with Cliff Richard in the window we stayed there for years it was a lovely place and the man that owned it was lovely too but they had a fire a couple of years ago and nothing was the same

Stephen, do you have any info on the Infusion's building? It's my favourite swingers club in blackpool. I was told it's where buses used to be serviced and the service inspection pit became a swimming pool for a gym, then later the swinging club.

Good to see you both. Hope your back is doing well Stephen. Blue sky looks good. Those railings would have looked really fancy. My house was built in 1904 and all the railings have been cut off. Most houses in the town had their railings removed for the metal to make bombs in WW2 and NEVER used!!! When I was digging the tiny front garden to remove big stones I found a fancy decorative piece of metal a bit like a Fleur de Lys which would have been in the top of the rail. I noticed an older building nearby that was a Mill owners house had the original rails with the same fancy bits still intact. Suppose it was just the Mill workers that had their rails ruined!! I must say in my town you wouldn't need to pay for certain activities. 🤣👍

EVERY MAJOR TOWN IN BRITAIN HAS GOT THE SAME TYPE OF BUSINESSES GOING ON, AS LONG AS PEOPLE REQUIRE MONEY THESE PLACES WILL ALWAYS BE AROUND.

Those red phone boxes used to be the local lav where i came from.

When you see the old grand buildings barely occupied, not maintained or dilapidated makes you truly realise how times of the industrial past of this country has changed. Probably was a hive of activity 100 years ago and classed as wealthy towns. Now the exact opposite. If those buildings didn't exist we would never be replacing them in the 21st century. Life and people are now too far from that time.
