Guessing you watched my hidden audio mechanic, a short range shotshell does not guarantee that her next attack is the longshot, it just means that if you hear it and have counted to the forth attack WITHOUT all of the previous ones being light attacks THEN the next one is a longshot creating the double shellshot. There's much more to that than simply just sound.
