i remember one year at my camp we weren’t aloud electronics and one night i woke up and saw one of my counsellors on her computer watching pitch perfect with her headphones in but i just watched it from my top bunk bed with no sounds haha, one of my best memories
One time at camp I fell in the lake with my running shoes on and my counselor said suck it up and I couldn’t wear my shoes for the rest of camp Btw it was the second DAY OF CAMP it was overnight gosh I hate overnight
I went to a camp where they did day camp and overnight and I only did day camp however I can’t go anymore because I’m to old. but seeing this setting with funny named cabins makes me miss it so much!😭😭
I can relate! I was thinking about camp and missing the experience I had there when I was ten. Deciding to be a camp counselor was a great decision, if you can you should apply to be one as well! Most of the cabins at the camp are named after Native American Tribes but my village was not one that got those type of names.
The accuracy of this video is so real! The food, lights, phones! Ive been a counselor for 4 years but enjoy watching these videos. I never thought to record during off days, but thats probably because I usually sleep all day because camp.
This is a fun video! I love watching videos from different camps. I’m a camper at The Tim Hortons Foundation camps. It’s very fun and I love your camp bcuz it is more of actual camping. We stay in bunkhouses.
At my camp, we also do a cleaning competition, but some of us sleep in tents, so it’s easier. 3 categories #1: how clean it is. #2: bribery #3: how well you swept it. Our reward is the GOLDEN BROOM! The end of a broom painted gold. Also we get one to two showers while we’re there. One if you’re going for 1-2 weeks (after trip(“trip” is the canoe trips we do. Different age groups do different trips. Junior 3-4 days. Temags 6 days. C de B 8 or 18 days (18 is four weeks). Pion 10 or 20 (20 is four weeks). Bay trip 25 days. V1 27 days. V2 52 days.) and if you’re going for 4 weeks you get two (one after one before) also V1 and V2 only get one shower, since they leave from an airport. There’s no real time limit, but don’t take to much time. God, this was too long. And yes, we stink after not showering for like 20 days. Edit: I have since gone and come back, and we actually spent 25 days not showering, but those days felt so short. Still miss that place!
Kate Funnekotter Yh but u said u don’t get to shower everyday. In my camp you would get in trouble for not showering at least once a day. I think that’s unfair of them
Last year there was 1 cabin of girls ( there’s usually 4 per room, they had 4) who would get up really early and take like an hour long hot shower and everyone else had to get freezing showers because of them. The day that we went rafting we had to get a shower after and they got there slightly before and while I took a freezing shower, idk which of the 4 it was, was taking a steaming shower and I was not impressed. Edit: There was only four showers There were no time limits The girl that took the steaming shower was kaitlyn Fuck off kaitlyn
Anybody else always get excited way to early and then the week before camp you can't wait until you leave, so your just sitting in your room waiting for it to be time to leave?
Wow I cant believe you actually stayed here! At my summer camp because it's so big we have cabin houses that have 6 to 10 rooms my cabin this year had 10 rooms. Witch means five bedrooms on both floors, and 3 bathrooms on each floor. As well as six girls in each room. Yeah that was a crazy year.
this makes me so excited to go to camp because i’m going in 11 days and i ordered some cute fairy lights for our cabin so it won’t be boring but the sad thing is that we can’t bring electronics
omg can u tell me what camp it is because i only go to 1 week camp and i hate it i want a month camp but i never can found one here is my instagram: fatumaalobo101 snapchat: falobo4 please and thank you
when i was at camp at like 1am our consoler thought we were sleeping (we weren’t obviously) and she got up and went outside and came back like 1 hour later 😂
It was very interesting to see the inside of your cabin. I love Dr. Seuss. I’m a retired schoolteacher and I always used him in my classroom at this time of the year. They are tight quarters. my granddaughter is there now. I can’t wait to hear what she has to say when she comes home tomorrow. I think you did a good job on the video. I can see that he would be a great counselor. Thank you for the tour. 🇺🇸🙏♥️🌭🍔🍟🍫🍦🎾🏓🏊🏻♂️🏊♀️🧗🏻🎼🧩🎸🥁📚🖍️🔦🛶🎨 10:10
I go to a sleep away camp! And I felt homesick sometimes, I’m ten too. Have any of the ten year olds woke you up at night because they were homelike like me?
Yes, many nights! Also, bed wetting is common too. It's all normal and okay. Counselors are there to make sure you are okay physically and emotionally, so I'm glad when they came to me for help
You don't get time to clean? At my camp We get around 30 minutes every day to clean our cabin before interest groups. We have a challenge where the "Hermins" who go around the cabins occasionally and check them. At the end of the sessions they give cupcakes to the girls cleanest cabin, the girls cleanest circle (it would be the same as one of your "villages".) And the same for the boys
Allison Smith my advice is to always keep your shoes dry always drink water get a lot of sleep don’t think about home try new things ask your counselor all the questions to have always take a buddy
I’m a camp counselor too! What does the nightly paper work for the kids consist of? We also have some papers to fill out every night too but I was wondering what yours is about ?
It's been a while but it was along the lines of how they behaved and what they did throughout the day. so like highlight or low points that if their parent were to call the camp could let them know what's going on daily with their child :)
6:19 not to be rude or anything but you guys can have sheets of your own and why can't the kids use their phones at night? I know they are suppose to sleep but just for a little u know
The camp provides the kids with sheets and blankets. Using camp bedding makes "night accidents" easy because we can drop them off at the nurses and grab a new one without the other children questioning anything. Additionally, they pack heavy for their two-week stay, not having to bring bedding makes things lighter. When we go hiking and stay overnight the kids use their blankets and once we return they can get a fresh pair of sheets that same day, which is a benefit to using camp bedding. At this camp, children aren't allowed to use phones at any time. They also don't allow kids to call their parents unless it's a complete emergency. Calling home only makes the children more homesick and having phones can bring about sooooo many issues, as you can imagine. Counselors also aren't allowed to use our phones unless for pictures/appropriate music for the children. The children are urged to write letters to their parents and enjoy their stay at camp and take in the wonders of nature.
