I've seen Al Cisneros live twice, with Om and Shrinebuilder, and on both occasions his fucking bass sound literally moved me. Fucking epic. I just regret not being stoned on either occasion.
Do yourself a favor, get a good DAC like the Fiio e17 and a good headset like vmodas, and crank it. SO amazing. Fell the bass in your brain resonate through your toes.
I've been fortunate enough to see Om, Shrinebuilder, and Sleep. However I felt slightly unsettled watching everyone around me putting earplugs in before Sleep came onstage. I got my hearing back in one ear only, three days later.
Ride the dragon toward the crimson eye Flap the wings under Mars red sky The reptile pushes itself out into space Leaving behind, the human race Swim inside the solar seas The Nebula cries out to me Passing where I've gone before I fly on through the crimson door Ride the dragon toward the crimson eye Flap the wings under Mars red sky
That is an evil bass line, and some really crazy drumming and guitar riffage, and to top it off those dark and haunting vocals make this a killer track. The video matches the mood and flow of this song perfectly. Why like so many talented bands are they unheard of. I guess it makes listening to their music a more personal experience since few know of them.
Man, I just discovered this band yesterday. They kick ass! Once you get past the intro, it's very much like Sabbath, from Master of Reality. The chord changes in this song are very much like something Tony Iommi would do. It's awesome to hear the first stoner metal I've ever heard since Sabbath. This band is very good, and this genre has been hiding for too long.
+John Robert Weyn Me too. Got a fuzz pedal (Big Muff Pi Deluxe) for my guitar and then went searching for good fuzz pedal songs on RU-vid. This one came up pretty quickly and damn, that's some high octane stuff. Sabbath never dies!
J.Yunger, (White Zombie) had a column in guitar mag, he would talk about new bands he liked, Sleep was one of them. 1992 or 93. I immediately was on a mission to find Sleep, once I heard it I was hooked on them, Wish White zombie would have brought them on your.
luka žnidarič money - pink floyd starts off in a completely different time singnature. The only thing similar is that these songs both are played with swing
+darwleg could be, but some bands do that, change a classic riff a bit at the tuning or the playstyle, to make it more accessible! I will have it mostly cause Sleep have nothing to prove and dont need to steal ideas to reach the top! Stay high
I still remember buying this on cassette...oh wait still have it to...and to think what they went on and did over the years!!! Me and my friends went shit!!!! This is fantastic!!!!
Your exactly right, there are so many bands that sound like Sabbath and in the 90's too many bands tried to emulate Kyuss and Fu Manchu. However there are a lot of bands that have taken the Sabbath idea but have incorporated their own distinct sound. Now Sabbath was pretty much doing what everyone else was doing at that time which taking the blues and turning them into hard rock songs but Sabbath had they're own original take on the blues as did Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy etc...
A well black influenced band . But unlike most they pull it off . Metal was born in the 70s now we have something to bang our heads to while pissed as we did with the god of metal "ozzy" . Love these guys . Please never split as you have what it takes for a new revival.
"not saying that it's best to listen to stoner music when you're high, they're great as fuck when you're sober, but when you get high to stoner music is a whole different level" -A Fucking high as fuck guy at this great moment
