Yes! This is the best live Sleep on RU-vid. Southwest show is real good. Hellfest has washed out vocals. Mohawk is good for audience handheld. Iommic life complete.
Saw high on fire years ago in the Carolinas. Got to meet Matt what a cool guy. He said “ can one of you guys buy me some mozzarella sticks? I’ve spent all my per diem.” we got him the cheese sticks and then he just made out with my buddy’s sister for half an hour or so.
I met him in Vegas. Just said what’s up to him. He was super cool and asked if I wanted to hang at the bar with all his friends. All his friends was Mastodon. All were cool as hell.
I was on a date with a girl..some drunk lil stinky guy showed up behind me..it was Matt..I introduced them. I had hung out with Matt a few times at Hells Kitchen in Tacoma. We had some mutual friends.Anyways long story short he left with my date.He actually saved me.The date was horrible and she just refused to leave until Matt showed..
The audio quality on this channel is pretty much always a cut above, but goddamn. The mix here is on par with the best concert footage I've seen. Hat's off.
Agreed. Whoever is in charge of the audio work here should be hired and paid handsomely to mix the coverage of major festivals as their sound always sucks. Every time you see it on TV it sounds like the sound guys mixing the audio for broadcast just gave up after 20 minutes.
Can't agree more and I'm pleased to hear that my ears still function after 40 years of this type of thing. This is the work of a true genius if I'm not mistaken.
Ampeg SVT amps are rated at 300w into a 4 ohm load. Watch the Mohak Sleep videos for a taste of how heavy his bass is. Watch video 2 which is Sonic Titan. Notice that Al steps on a DOD OD250 overdrive AND a Boss DS-1distortion before launching into Sonic Titan. Heavy. Notice the sustaining bass completely drown out Matt's guitar during the opening riff to the verse section until Al mutes the bass. Bong tokes for the masses!
@acemechanical275 i had that problem, but ever since i switched to wound 3rd it's kept in tune. But my 1st always falls out of tune even with Tuneomatic bridge. It is what it is.
That's why they're bad ass like Slayer , they don't give a fuck about being poser's ! They just go out there and rip it up unlike sell out's Metallica , where they worry about production values and trying to stay mainstream . I like bands that aren't worried about commercial success and stick to their roots....
@@jacobedward2401 Not so much ugly , but aren't posers. They just go out there in a t-shirt and jeans and kick ass , that's why I am a huge Slayer fan , they never changed from who they were from day one until their last farewell show , which I was lucky to see in the pit. They stayed true to themselves and I respect all bands that do that , I used to be a huge Metallica fan in the 80's and saw them at a small club on the Kill em all tour , but then they sold out in the 90's. Maiden is another band that stayed true to themselves and didn't sell out or dress like chicks in the 80's. Same with the grunge bands in the 90's , they just went out there and played without all the glitz of the hair metal posers...
I know this is a joke but he looks well for a man with diabetes who lost part of his foot to it. Can only he hope he has many more riff filled years whether shirtless or not.
They already have! Last month they posted a message in morse code, which once translated, stated they had almost finished recording a new album. So expect something sooner than later!
I remember when Matt bought his first Les Paul in the mid 80s and played it in my parents garage hella loud in Santa Clara CA. I'm Chris Hakius' older brother lol 🎸 It's so cool that Matt had been in TWO highly-successful underground bands!
Josh Featherstone have you ever been to a Sunn O))) or Boris gig? This number of amps creates a certain resonance that you can feel in every part of your body. Plus they're loud as all hell. No need for insults, it's just an opinion.
Can't get enough of these dudes. Saw em twice in the last year and a half and the set they've been working on is like being thrown into the medium of all that is true and real in our experience. From beyond the realms of our sight. It's knowing whether or not we're dreaming of the light.
I'm at my 37th year in life, just discovering all this rock music fresh out the void feeling like a kid, Beleive me when i tell you I can't thankfull enough for THIS SHIT WTF 😤😤😤😤😤😤😤
Al creating thumping rhythms of electron waves amplified to coincide with Pikes Axemanship leaving perfect space to create drum fillls that drive the profoundness of the entire cosmic music event that is Sleep.🎸🚀🙌😎
Cultivar Morris is my favorite 15 minutes of Sleep music ever. I saw them in 2017 and they played Dopesmoker part 1 and I saw them again in 2019 and they didn’t play either. Hopefully someday I can hear it live!
Fuuuuuuuck I want to go to a sleep show so damn bad. Scott Evans did an outstanding job recording and mixing this live show, he nailed it. Such a good sound engineer. 🍻

god they're so fucking good live. my ears were literally bleeding by the time they got to the solo on the clarity. and sonic titan was the heaviest thing i've ever witnessed. i was just the right amount of stoned.
They are going to cut a live Lathe in December. ThirdMan Records, Nashville. Of course it sold out before I could buy the tickets. I would give my right nutt for a copy of that Lathe.
It would be cool, yes, but that's King Buzzo's thing, Sleep is 3 members, no more. So much power is already being transmitted just from the trio, a 4th member would be Sonic overload lol
What a band! I can't believe I'd never even heard of these guys until about 2 years ago and I'm a 60 year old who thinks he knows his music!! The drummer is extremely cool, the slow Groove Master General, I think he is a micro second behind on the slow stuff, on pu, which excentuates the might and majesty of the overall effect even more. The other 2 are of course incredibly good. Fuzzy, heavy Rickenbaker, Screaming, mutant, power head Blast Les Paul!?!? Oh, alright, go on then! Brilliant stuff!
