Absolutely one of my favorites from the album. Love love love the obvious jazz influence. The beautiful piano, that soft guitar. I don't even care what genre this band is (supposed) to be. When you produce great songs like this, I'm going to listen.
It’s honestly so impressive to me how they are merging all these genres! With such finesse as well. Looking forward to more. Thanks for watching my dude 😊
So being born in 1970, imagine all the music and bands I grew up with. And to this day... Sleep Token is in my top 5 of all time. They have songs I like less than others But, they do not have a bad song! I can't get enough of them. And I can't wait to see what's next from you. Thank you for putting out such good content, it is very entertaining.
I fricken love that! Like they are such a smush of genres but that you can connect dots from earlier music and say, yeah this is great is awesome. Thanks for watching again my dude 😊💜
@@wendypierce5621 Yup, everything across the spectrum coming out of the 60's into early 70's Rock, R&B and Real country.... Being a teen in the mid 80's... we really did get all the great stuff !
I kind of agree with you in regards to vessel's vocals, the live version of Aqua Regia is 100% better especially because they have the choir that harmonizes with vessel. That piano breakdown is sooo tasty tho! Can't wait for you to do Vore, the harmonies are INSANE and it's my favorite from tmbte
I think for sure we’re going to have to do a little wander into live ST stuff. I need to hear the expression outside of the studio. Still a wonderful vocalist. Thanks for watching my dude 😊
What the Vesselettes bring to the live show cannot be overstated. You also get the purest form of Vessel's voice in a live setting. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3LgRqcAD2uo.htmlsi=Qg7I02duurGaKhTi
If you want to hear blues and metal together, give Zeal and Ardor a go. Worth checking out the background of the band too and how they were created by asking 4Chan for 2 genres and the reply was a less polite version of black music and black metal, and so their singer went ahead and mixed blues with metal and based it on a alternate history where slaves make a deal with the devil
I mean, with my slightly ironic interpretation of "the Devil" (as the liberator), that's basically what Haitian Voodoo was, so it's not much of a stretch; Zeal & Ardor take the actual heritage of the lead singer and make it metal (as it should be, in *this* history)
Very much the blues! Cool! I would recommend MD.45 . Dave Mustaine takes blues to a different level! All the songs on that album are really good! Keep up the great work My Fine Scottish Lady! ❤❤❤
Is Aqua Regia an LP listen? By itself it feels flat. Very chill. Like I wanted a few more tasty pebbles, like the keys or something else to ripple the surface.
Yeah I have been informed that the next track is a jump in tone but I am totally enjoying track by track as I don’t think I’d have time to process all my feelings in one go. Thanks for watching my dude 😊
I do enjoy this track, but the only thing i ever remember about it is where he says "Aqua Regia" 💀 I agree about the effected voice against the piano. I wish it was a smoother mix.
I feel like the deliberate decision to make the contrast between the piano and vocals so harsh was almost like a stylistic pun based around the title and the topic itself
Just a note - while a significant amount of metal indeed originates from and is inspired by blues, it doesn't apply to everyone. There is as much influence from punk, for example, especially in the alternative metal/rock scene (grunge is a good example). This doesn't invalidate your comment, it's just there is so much more to metal than many people realise :)
Oh no I understand that influence isn’t linear for sure, and neither it should be. I think the point I was trying to make was that it’s just very cool to me that’s been listening to a lot of metal recently it’s so removed from its origins because of nonlinear influence, so when I hear it going back a little to roots music it feels like a wonderful full circle. Thank you for taking the time for a little conversation on it 😊
Have you heard of the new sludgie Doom super group called slower? They do covers of the band Slayer at like half the tempo... You need to check them out 🙂 their interpretation of war ensemble is pretty cool. I think you'll also like south of heaven. Seriously.
It's a nerdy sex jam. I appreciate the play in the lyrics between romantic chemistry and scientific chemistry. I think if a song this smooth had overtly romantic lyrics it would be too much (I'm on the aromantic side of things.)
Yeah I think you’re completely right! Having balance in a song is definitely the job between the songwriter/arranger. And I think here it’s done well. I love the balance tipped tbh but if the lyrics were too soppy it just wouldn’t be right. Thanks for taking the time 😊
This band proves that genre is not terribly useful for clearly defining music to people that haven't heard that particular music. In the end, music is magic.
Have you heard of Leprous yet? They're quite an interesting somewhat jazzy somewhat metal band. If you want clean vocals from them, I'd say their song Below would be a good start, but if you want something harsher, maybe Slave would be a better start. 🙂
My apologies for my post, last night, which was more colorful than usual (which is what happens when I have a few drinks and watch these things). Of course, I've removed it. Best!
Oh I didn’t even see it I don’t think. Fear not. We’ve all said and one things after another Chardonnay we wish we could take back. At least for you it was on RU-vid. I like to do all my drunk mistakes in person so there’s no way to take them back 😂
These guys... Its so beautiful that they cant be put into any genres... Just 'Sleep Token Music'... Thank you for the insights... Subbing... Do keep the good stuff coming! \m/
You're spot on. I've felt there's been some things missing for a number of years now in Metal and one of those is harmony. You found it more maybe in the 90's but the trend since then has gone a different direction. There is one Metal genre however that has kept those elements quite well and that's Power Metal. One good band just released their first song in about two years, Unleash The Archers. Song is Green and Glass. You got to check it I think you'll find a bit more of what you're looking for! Cheers 🍻 🤙
This has turned into my favorite album so I love that we are doing the whole thing. Can't wait for Ascensionism and Take Me Back to Eden. We you finish this album we should party and no better way then with "We Got The Moves" by Electric Callboy
